IGG (http://www.igg.com/), a leading MMO publisher in North America, has scored a big hit with its brand new MMO game-2029 Online. With an epic storyline broken into exquisitely plotted quests and snaking through your playing hours, this game is set to enjoy great success and even greater market dominance. Get your game time groove on and become the Savior of war-torn Helen Continent. Will the inspired and cunning Humans outsmart the awakened Dryad and take over the universe? Or will the sneaky Electronic Elves step in and successfully bring down the Humans’ plans to build their leadership and save this sinful land? The war has just begun!

So  everyone else finds the above unintentionaly funny as well.

The over the top hype of the first line kinda makes you think this company is clueless and the used car salesman trying to sell it to you knows it.

Of to it's site I gooo...

As far as I know, they haven't told us yet, and we're supposedly one week away from launch.

I have to agree with you there. When the head of a company talks about his product IN PUBLIC people usualy don't ask themselves if he is speaking offically.  It's usually taken as a fact.

When a head of a company speaks in public it's an offical statement of a sort. An unoffical statement would be what he says to his coworkers and not to gaming sites, reporters, etc.

None of the above statements seem to have been taken from internal sources.

This disregarding what the head of a company says about his own product IN PUBLIC becouse it wasn't "offcial" is a bit of an odd stance. Don't you think?

I would think he mean't them to be read by us, his future customers.

Which would have lead us to think the game has been ready for near future release for several years now.  .

That's a TON of polish they must be doing. I fully expect my moniter to explode from the seer awesomeness of DF upon first execution.

I hope all of this is nothing but Talos being weird, but...

Darkfall (and Aventurine) are the Barrack Obama of MMOs.

Pretty, but evasive, inexperienced, and dangerous to the whole.

But hey, why not build a campaign around nothing but promises on a foundation thats not even remotely solid?

Fixed your post for you.

i'm sorry but 10,000 at once is just plain rediculous.  i dont care how friggen good your programming is there is far too many variables that interfere with the game to make a lag free game with that many players.  Battles with hundreds?  thats achievable but some cuts needs to be made (graphics and effects mainly).

you can argue all you want but until we get decent connections, better servers and even better programming we wont see lag free games.

good luck to Darkfall and i can see maybe up to 100 at once (damn big fight) could be lag free (with those graphics and sparse landscape)

EVE has 300,000 players on one server. You...are an idiot.

Buhahahaha! Best post on this thread.

It's best to double check yourself when calling aother people idoits.

Also I am still VERY sceptical about these claims by Darkfall's devs. I would hope they can pull off what they claim but I don't see it happening on today's internet.

Anyone remmeber when Valve was talking about redoing tcp/ip so dialups could get pings almost like a broadband connection?

This is hardly the worst economy ever. Banks were doing some stupid stuff and it caught up with them. Now things have to settle out. Times may be a bit harder but ups and downs are normal.

Also entertainment tends to do well in bad economic times due to the fact that people want a release form money pressures. Some people are thinking video games will be what movies were for people during the depression.

Which race are the ones that look like sad, evil clowns?

If this game ever comes out I'll try the race that has the best looking outfits. IE ones with no horns.

It's the manual block and aimming in 200v200 battles that makes me really wonder. I don't think it can be done without alot of people whinning about how lag killed them. I'd like to see it happen but I have large doubts about it working well.

Personally I think "skills" are overrated for mmo's. What good are your skills going to do against a guy with 100 ms lower ping?

Also I disagree that clicking a button and waiting for cooldown takes no skill. The skill is in what order and how you use those buttons. Anyone who has evered played a mmo can attest to the fact that there are some people who can't play thier class well and there are some who can. That's skill(or lack of). Skill isn't found in the lack of cooldown timers, 100% manual aim, etc. It's found in any game.

For me I might give darkfall a try. But I'm staying away right now. The art for the outfits looks awful. There's no fun in it for me in an uber game if I look like a 5 year old made an outfit and put it on me.

I do like the evil clown race though. I hope they die alot. Die evil sword clowns, die.

So they fix something and your kinda complaining about them not fixing 'things'.

Most of their design decsions lately have been good and this is just continuing the trend.

I like what I see. Some cool changes there. I think Trubine is doing a good job with LotRO.

I agree. People have been saying PC gaming is dead/dying for at least the 10 years from my recollection.

Well they were wrong then and still are.

In fact over the years I've seen consoles start to be more like PCs.

"Help us Obi-wan Kenobi, you're our only hope"

It just came to mind when I read the thread title.

DF would fit the bill, however the probability of it ever being released is unfortunately not very high atm.

We can only hope that after enough companies fail at attacking the WOW monster by creating copies of it that they'll consider trying to make something different.

I thought that too when I read the title. Then I remmeber how Princess Leia only saw Obi as he was getting pwned by Darth Vader. (We all know that Obi couldn't beat Vader and letting his gaurd down was just a haxzor cheat to get to to get to transparent jedimode.)

To all the fanatic fans looking to this game to be THE mmo. You'll proboly get disappointed if you let yourself get overhyped. It IS JUST a game after all. (Or will be if it ever comes out.)

It was made by people IT WILL HAVE FLAWS. Hopefully not any big ones. It's made by Greeks too. Remmeber, Greeks forget to put arms on thier some of thier stautes. (Now don't go all Spartan on me.)

There are folks out there who still care about real pollution? All you hear about is that fake pollution carbon dioxide and carbon footprints these days. (How could something plants NEED be  pollution? Stop breathing to save the planet! Lead the way Al Gore.)

Yay for greenpeace. Too bad thier idiotic and fanitical ways get them ignored. Reducing pollution should not be handled like a religion.

I think the free market should handle pollution, there are compaines who recycle used electronics and sell the metals, chemicals,  etc. Governments can help by not taxing them and having electonics bins at the dumps.

That will reduce alot of the problem right there.

"you know how before blizzard release anything they announce it like 2-3 years in advanced "

"P.S. dont announce a game unless its being released in one year MAX thank u"

At first I thought you were just trying to diss NCsoft in a thinly disguised manner with   some kinda of crazy.

But then I noticed to two above statements and now I don't even know what your saying.

It's a shame that CCP had to take such time and effort (and man-hour dollars) away from the game to deal with this.  This has been attempted by every angry player for every online game ever.  All it takes is a couple of players to stir the conspiracy plot and it's off.  But I will say that I hope CCP has legal recourse because this sounds like the most skilled, coordinated and executed attack that I've ever seen...someone knew how to excite a riot and did and those people ought to be strung up legally.

I've seen this happen since UO when a player finds out they just got their butt kicked from an employee playing after work an they are pissed about it.  I know from this personally as my best friend worked at Origin on UO and got me started on UO and MMO's in general.  And he kicked my butt on a daily basis...but because he knew the game better, not because he cheated.  And that is what this is all about: cheating.  Just because an employee who works so hard on a game and knows a hell of a lot about it kicks your butt, is that cheating?  No...they just know the game better and are better at it than you.  Did my friend at Origin use any "tools" from work or anything to cheat?  Absolutely not!  What is the point in playing if you have to cheat any way...where is the fun in that?  My friend pwnd me and most others because he was better at the game and knew the game inside and out (and not because he knew "behinds the doors stuff"...it was all open information...he just knew it better than me).  And I bet that CCP players as a whole know EVE a heck of a lot better than the general player base does.

So please put the conspiracy theories back into the closet until the next November and we can revisit "the man in the grassy knoll" and realize that CCP employees enjoy their own work and product and would never take a chance at "cheating" or "controling" something to work in their own benefit; their benefit is when the most amount of people have the most amount of fun and if you bend that toward one side "winning", then the game becomes unbalanced and CCP would only lose.  Give them credit for being smarter than that.

The bottom line is THIS IS JUST A GAME PEOPLE!  Enjoy what you do and what you play; if not, find a new game and take your flaming energy to try to make a better planet/society instead of pulling it down.

Um didn't CCP already admit one of thier employees did just that? So cheating devs are just paranoia? Sir/Maam It seems to me your clearly biased for the game to the point of blocking out negative dev actions. It's just a game don't love it so much you have "game goggles" on.

I agree the recent snafu is a attack against ccp. And it seems like the those attacking CCP didn't have the whole story im some instances.

I believe ccp on the rigging thing. I'm not so sure about the shackbait thing. People who play for the other team shouldn't be joining the enemy and be able to see what they have while fixing a bug. People will never know if thier enemy whos has a dev/gm on thier team, who joined thier corp with access will use that info. This generates paranoia and distrust.

On the ISD reporter getting banned. CCP didn't give enough info. It still looks like the reporter's side of the story can be true. Infact CCP seems to confirm his side of the arguement with that petition screenshot. The attidude of the petition macths the attitude the ISD reporter.. reported.

I still don't like how close the devs are to people.  I'm not saying devs can't play thier own game but they should do so with a CLEAR and WELL defined speration. And people should NEVER know who the devs are ingame.

Devs and gms CANNOT afford to play in the big alliances in THIS game or stuff like this WILL continue to happen.

I hope CCP learns from this and takes action with themselves for the good of thier own income.

I myself found it a likeable game. Except finding parties under lv 30 very hard. It was very grindy.  I only got to lv 17. Yeah maybe I should put more into it but I got too bored to grind to lv whatever-the-fun-is.

That's why > i < don't play.

"So when people kill you it can hardly count as nasty."

When I read this I went "huh!?"  Funny and logicaly wacked.

This is Eve.

Eve is about scamming, backstabbing, murder, devious market plots, ethugs and cheating(by the game rules, not hacking).

It is a ruthless, cutthroat game.

I myself don't like that so I quit.  (That and the huge amount of time it takes to play this 2nd job game.)

Good job on the questions.

Some of the answers were kinda fluffy and some had good info.

I found 9D fun for the time I played, that is until the grind got to much.

9D isn't a bad game, just too grindy. And it sounds like they are doing good things to the game... except for the grind.

This part sounds interesting:

We had to stop a Black vs. White War between the alliances once because we had a technical glitch but it's resolved and players can expect them to resume every weekend. Coming soon, players will be able to participate in a new feature called Storm vs. Storm in which you can form a raiding party and actually take over a castle from NPCs. We're waiting until enough players reach high enough levels to participate. If a group of players are successful, they'll get to own the place, tax the map for gold, and will then need to defend it against other players with NPCs as their slaves! What's more fun than that?

Sounds alot like Lineage2's seige system, which made for some really cool battles. I'm so temped to go back, but again, the grind.

Graphics!

Who cares if your playing the the bestest mmo ever if it looks bad. How can it be great if it looks bad? Its kike having a 1000 hp motor and racing suspension in a rusty pinto. Sure its got great power but...

Who cares if the game is boring! If it looks good at least you can enjoy the view. It's like having a one of a kind dream car that runs on batteries. AA 's.  Sure it lacks power but it turns heads. And you never get a speeding ticket!

I'm joking.

Kinda.

I'm talking about experienced MMO players who test games and find them thoroughly crappy... Why is that?

It's because some of them are crappy.
Many of us have been there, done that. We get picky about what to spend our time on.
