Because "Tasos" said so ....... Quotes from the past

I have to agree with you there. When the head of a company talks about his product IN PUBLIC people usualy don't ask themselves if he is speaking offically. It's usually taken as a fact. When a head of a company speaks in public it's an offical statement of a sort. An unoffical statement would be what he says to his coworkers and not to gaming sites, reporters, etc. None of the above statements seem to have been taken from internal sources. This disregarding what the head of a company says about his own product IN PUBLIC becouse it wasn't "offcial" is a bit of an odd stance. Don't you think? I would think he mean't them to be read by us, his future customers. Which would have lead us to think the game has been ready for near future release for several years now. . That's a TON of polish they must be doing. I fully expect my moniter to explode from the seer awesomeness of DF upon first execution. I hope all of this is nothing but Talos being weird, but...

Darkfall (and Aventurine) are the Barrack Obama of MMOs. Pretty, but evasive, inexperienced, and dangerous to the whole. But hey, why not build a campaign around nothing but promises on a foundation thats not even remotely solid?
Fixed your post for you. |

Buhahahaha! Best post on this thread. It's best to double check yourself when calling aother people idoits. Also I am still VERY sceptical about these claims by Darkfall's devs. I would hope they can pull off what they claim but I don't see it happening on today's internet. Anyone remmeber when Valve was talking about redoing tcp/ip so dialups could get pings almost like a broadband connection? |

Darkfall will be trying to make $ in the worste world economy ever
General Discussion « Darkfall 10/07/08 9:37:55 PM
This is hardly the worst economy ever. Banks were doing some stupid stuff and it caught up with them. Now things have to settle out. Times may be a bit harder but ups and downs are normal. Also entertainment tends to do well in bad economic times due to the fact that people want a release form money pressures. Some people are thinking video games will be what movies were for people during the depression. |

Which race are the ones that look like sad, evil clowns? If this game ever comes out I'll try the race that has the best looking outfits. IE ones with no horns. |

Good news, the next generation MMORPG is soon to be released, it's a little too hardcore though!

It's the manual block and aimming in 200v200 battles that makes me really wonder. I don't think it can be done without alot of people whinning about how lag killed them. I'd like to see it happen but I have large doubts about it working well. Personally I think "skills" are overrated for mmo's. What good are your skills going to do against a guy with 100 ms lower ping? Also I disagree that clicking a button and waiting for cooldown takes no skill. The skill is in what order and how you use those buttons. Anyone who has evered played a mmo can attest to the fact that there are some people who can't play thier class well and there are some who can. That's skill(or lack of). Skill isn't found in the lack of cooldown timers, 100% manual aim, etc. It's found in any game. For me I might give darkfall a try. But I'm staying away right now. The art for the outfits looks awful. There's no fun in it for me in an uber game if I look like a 5 year old made an outfit and put it on me. I do like the evil clown race though. I hope they die alot. Die evil sword clowns, die. |

So they fix something and your kinda complaining about them not fixing 'things'. Most of their design decsions lately have been good and this is just continuing the trend. |

I like what I see. Some cool changes there. I think Trubine is doing a good job with LotRO.

I agree. People have been saying PC gaming is dead/dying for at least the 10 years from my recollection. Well they were wrong then and still are. In fact over the years I've seen consoles start to be more like PCs. |

General: Game Industry Ranks Poor: Greenpeace
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/29/07 5:57:49 AM
There are folks out there who still care about real pollution? All you hear about is that fake pollution carbon dioxide and carbon footprints these days. (How could something plants NEED be pollution? Stop breathing to save the planet! Lead the way Al Gore.) Yay for greenpeace. Too bad thier idiotic and fanitical ways get them ignored. Reducing pollution should not be handled like a religion. I think the free market should handle pollution, there are compaines who recycle used electronics and sell the metals, chemicals, etc. Governments can help by not taxing them and having electonics bins at the dumps. That will reduce alot of the problem right there.

"you know how before blizzard release anything they announce it like 2-3 years in advanced "
"P.S. dont announce a game unless its being released in one year MAX thank u"
At first I thought you were just trying to diss NCsoft in a thinly disguised manner with But then I noticed to two above statements and now I don't even know what your saying.

I'm not so sure about the shackbait thing. People who play for the other team shouldn't be joining the enemy and be able to see what they have while fixing a bug. People will never know if thier enemy whos has a dev/gm on thier team, who joined thier corp with access will use that info. This generates paranoia and distrust. On the ISD reporter getting banned. CCP didn't give enough info. It still looks like the reporter's side of the story can be true. Infact CCP seems to confirm his side of the arguement with that petition screenshot. The attidude of the petition macths the attitude the ISD reporter.. reported. I still don't like how close the devs are to people. I'm not saying devs can't play thier own game but they should do so with a CLEAR and WELL defined speration. And people should NEVER know who the devs are ingame. Devs and gms CANNOT afford to play in the big alliances in THIS game or stuff like this WILL continue to happen. I hope CCP learns from this and takes action with themselves for the good of thier own income.

I myself found it a likeable game. Except finding parties under lv 30 very hard. It was very grindy. I only got to lv 17. Yeah maybe I should put more into it but I got too bored to grind to lv whatever-the-fun-is. That's why > i < don't play.

"So when people kill you it can hardly count as nasty."
When I read this I went "huh!?" Funny and logicaly wacked. This is Eve. Eve is about scamming, backstabbing, murder, devious market plots, ethugs and cheating(by the game rules, not hacking). It is a ruthless, cutthroat game. I myself don't like that so I quit. (That and the huge amount of time it takes to play this 2nd job game.)

Good job on the questions. Some of the answers were kinda fluffy and some had good info. I found 9D fun for the time I played, that is until the grind got to much. 9D isn't a bad game, just too grindy. And it sounds like they are doing good things to the game... except for the grind.
This part sounds interesting: We had to stop a Black vs. White War between the alliances once because we had a technical glitch but it's resolved and players can expect them to resume every weekend. Coming soon, players will be able to participate in a new feature called Storm vs. Storm in which you can form a raiding party and actually take over a castle from NPCs. We're waiting until enough players reach high enough levels to participate. If a group of players are successful, they'll get to own the place, tax the map for gold, and will then need to defend it against other players with NPCs as their slaves! What's more fun than that?
Sounds alot like Lineage2's seige system, which made for some really cool battles. I'm so temped to go back, but again, the grind.

Poll: Whats more important to you in an MMO?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/02/07 4:27:15 PM
Graphics! Who cares if your playing the the bestest mmo ever if it looks bad. How can it be great if it looks bad? Its kike having a 1000 hp motor and racing suspension in a rusty pinto. Sure its got great power but... Who cares if the game is boring! If it looks good at least you can enjoy the view. It's like having a one of a kind dream car that runs on batteries. AA 's. Sure it lacks power but it turns heads. And you never get a speeding ticket!
I'm joking. Kinda. |

How narrow-minded are you guys, seriously!?

It's because some of them are crappy.
