Regarding EVE China, yes censorship is a part of it, but a small one. The big thing is that businesses, especially internet services, have to be operated by Chinese and must fall under government regulation. Even Google's operation in China was a subsidiary. Technically, there is very little stopping westerners from playing on the Chinese EVE server - in fact there are over 500 players from TQ setting up base on there right now. The game's operators are at a loss what to do with them since there is little in the regulation about foreigners. For the time being it is increasing interest in the player base so they get optimistically ignored. The Chinese EVE server (Serenity) has 8k-10k max population - they could all join TQ if they wanted to without major issues. I'm looking forward to seeing another culture driven group come into the game as we've seen with the French, German, and Russian players already. Things will get interesting. |

How does EVE compare with regard to "gold" spamming?
Jita (General) « EVE Online 6/23/11 1:02:39 AM
In EVE you can set a 'fine' that unknown people must pay to contact you. I had set this to the maximum value off and on to deter ISK sellers - but that was a few years ago. At some point I just made it free to contact me and I haven't seen a "gold seller" since. I would say they've been pretty much weeded out thanks to PLEX and 1-click spam reporting. |

Do you run missions?

Something on the PC, since the tracert never even made it to his router.. |

It sounds like you never actually installed the game and are trying to run it directly from the mounted DMG. Try the instructions on this web page for installing DMG programs on Mac.

Help! what does it mean with this volume space nonsensicleness???
Jita (General) « EVE Online 12/16/10 9:52:42 PM
Um.. how long have you had your Mac? The 'eve-premium_004952_207554-mac.dmg' is an archive file, kind of like a .zip - you are not supposed to run it from inside the dmg. |

If you want to read all the backstory in one place (or offline) I recommend fetching this: The Book of EVE. In general all of the original colonists arrived in New Eden by their affiliation, not by any racial or social diaspora. Each colony was a melting pot to begin with even before their ships past through the EVE Gate. |

If I understand it correctly the 0.3 SP only come into play if you had maxed the point allocation in any attribute (which can only be done for 1) and lvl 5 implants. Over all a tiny amount that, as said, would take around 8 years to become a deficit when you consider that you are also getting over 5M SP back up front. |

Incursion 1.0.0 was released today (Nov 30). There are 2 other big feature updates scheduled for Dec 14 and January. This has more details - Dev Blog: Incursion Release Date.
The "incursion" feature is being released in January. You can read about how its supposed to work here - Dev Blog: The Nation Strikes Back. I haven't been involved with any incursion combat fleets on the test server but I did explore the different sites. They definitely will require group effort to complete (not to mention doing enough to reclaim a whole system). The goals at each site are varied and refreshing including moving refugees from habitats to transports, sabotaging Sansha mining outposts, hacking data centers, etc. The new Sansha "Incursion" NPC are new too - with stats and roles approaching that of T2 player ships in some cases. Don't expect to fight incursions alone and live. The biggest criticism so far (as much as one can make before its released) is how well players will come together to defend a system a system an how accessible incursion content will be to newer players. You'll have to get more info from others who have tested the Incursion feature better.
Your lag issue doesn't seem to be due to EVE itself. 30 minutes to log in is ridiculous by any measure (I can login in 1 minute over a 64k mobile connection in the middle of nowhere). If you find that the lag happens around the same time of day I would suggest checking that your virus scanner/disk defragmentor/etc isn't running at this time. Also check that there are no heavy downloads happening on your network. Periodic sluggish graphics performance and crashes could also be a sign of hardware failure (especially if its been on enough to get hot).
The new avatar system is coming in the Incursion feature patch in January. Every current and new character will have the option of recreating their avatar with the new system. After a month it will be mandatory.
You do not need a credit card to use the 5 day offer. If you trained the learning skills up you are actually better off even with them being removed. As long as you gained levels in them you still made SP at a higher rate. You will be able to reallocate these extra SP to other skills instantly (full levels or partial) or save them for future use. Skills still train at the speed determined by your attributes but everyone will have 12 extra in each (slightly better then having all Advanced Learning skill at max, ignoring implants) so everything will train faster overall. |

I believe that characters were always made with the same total number of attribute points, even at launch. Your character from 2008 may have high Int but that can be remapped now. Unfortunately unless your old character has any decent skill training I doubt you could sell him for much :\ |

You can cheat by running the repair tools in the folder you want to install it to. You will have to make a dummy file called "eve.exe" first or it won't work. http://support.eveonline.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=750 This is absolutely not the approved way of getting the game. It won't give you an uninstaller or any shortcuts. Its there to fix an existing but broken install of the game, but it will consider 0 files as no working files and get them for you, piece meal, and double check them. It should work with what ever connection issues you are having. |

That's pretty much what is already planned for Dust. Capsuleers or NPCs contract Dust squads to take a planet/district with ISK. There is also the implication that losing your dropship will also destroy anything on board so your group will have to keep a reasonable income to stay equipped. The current planned interaction between EVE and dust ends at payment and planet status, though. Its not known how/if Dust planet relocation will be handled with ships or whatever. Dust squads are supposed to own a capital class "War Barge" to deploy from. |

Are you sure you looked at it? Its less a money making guide and much more a general game manual. |

Oops, guess I shouldn't use ancient numbers next time... |

There are 3 things you can do with the supplied GTC (game time code/card) in the box. Start a new account and get the special items. The items are a limited edition Interbus/Gallente shuttle with double the cargo space (they carry barely anything in the first place, but are fast) and a voucher you can redeem with any of the 4 empires to increase your standings with them, allowing you to immediately enter Factional Warfare (and other things?). Activate a trial account. Pretty much just that. You keep your character and the time you've invested in him/her. The special GTC bestows no extras and is just a normal GTC. There is a slight play time/$ gain if you run the numbers over activating with a payment. Pay $ to activate your account and keep the GTC. Why would you want to do that? Because you are allowed to convert the GTC to an in game item and sell it to other players. Normal going rate for 30 days is 350M ISK. |

QFT, but the "random direction" is actually always the same. [Immersion Breaker] Open the mini-map (F11) and check the orientation of stations and stargates. They all point the same direction! |

New (tutorial) player - I have questions about the UI
Jita (General) « EVE Online 5/01/10 11:44:23 AM
Trial accounts can post in the EVE New Citizens Q&A forum. Changing the font size is limited. You can adjust the font spacing a bit, and change the font size for the right click menues. You can also change the font size for each chat channel individually with the control on their windows. You can get EVE to use two monitors if you set up for graphics drivers to use "span mode" that turns your two monitors into one big virtual monitor as far as programs are concerned. You ship will be stuck in the middle (split between the screens) but you can drag the controls around. |
