Sounds cool. He nicely evaded THE question there but I definately gonna try this one out. Btw, I wonder what a proton barrage is? |

End of MMOs? Dont think so... but, hopefully a well deserved break from all these Fantasy MMOs. This year and the next a lot of cool non-Fantasy MMOs are coming. Personally I am really tired of fantasy games... Men, elves, dwarves and priests warriors and mages, feels like the same thing but with a different name in most games. |

The Hype Man, Good or Bad for their game?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/23/09 1:29:34 PM
Ah yes The allmighty Hype man. Im not sure what to think of him/her. I just tend to regard him as a source of info about the game coming from a source that knows whats going on. I dont disregard forums but they tend asume and guess alot about the game. So Good, bad? That depends on what he says and what happens come release *coughAoCcough*. But I have to say... good. Its info about the game coming from an official source, it might not always be 100% correct but usually he's not guessing how the game will play. |

I agree. Of course there should be death penalty for death. I like the ideas Derektodd had, in the shows the ships could take a helluva beating but still function, not near full capacity but still going. Star trek II, Enterprise was hit bad but they managed to get some stuff back online and save the day, In ST:VOY the "Year of Hell" I think the episodes are called the Voyager takes a crap load of damage but keeps going albeit with very limited functionality but going nevertheless. The ships in ST can take a lot of damage and still keep going but they are not indestructible. Taking alot of damage has to require some sort of extra care at a starbase and take a while to repair. Starships do blow up, its not often but they do so ship loss should be ingame in some way to deter people from just jumping in no matter what the situation is or what condition the ship is in. |

If you look at the shows there arent alot of ships getting blowed up. Severely damaged yes but not destroyed. So maybe a system where your ship gets alot of damage and you have to repair it at a starbase for a cost. In the shows they also seem to be able to make hotfixes to the ships even when they are pretty banged up so maybe you can temp fix your ship and get outa the hotspot to the nearest base. "Captains log: This is Captain Kirk on the starship Enterprise T. I was grinding Gorn in sector M4 when a mob of Romulans popped up, lost my ship again." ... that just sounds so wrong. |

DC Universe: A New Look at DC Universe Online

There are a couple of games on the way that has some interesting features. Star Trek Online will have alot of exploration and customization. Star Wars: The old Republic will focus heavily on story telling City of Heroes/Villains are working their next expansion which I think will include the tools for players to create their own missions. CCP are working on a MMO based on White Wolfs vampire world I believe, so theres some Vamp action for ya... a few years from now that is.

Planetside 2 would be great. Ive fought some epic battles in PS... usually over some stinkin bridge! But that didnt matter at the time hehe... just awsome repelling an armada of tanks trying to cross it, seeing artillery bombarding the other side while a flock of reavers and libs charging em, tons of infantry and MAXes rushing the bridge followed by our tanks too, then they come at us again..."They shall not pass!", just awsome. Would it be that hard to do PS2? I mean the foundation is all there, races, weapons, story.... theres no need to write 2000 quests because there are no boring a** quests in PS... just pure action. New engine, scrap that funky cone of fire, add some new air and sea bases, more weapons and vehicles and sprinkle with love. Serve with cold beer and good endgame, bam, insta successimo! ...One can only dream. |

Seriously, I hope this game does not cater to the Jedi crowd.
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/19/08 5:20:15 PM
I wouldnt want to play as a jedi/Sith. Of course I would try em out sooner or later but if could choose... Mandalorian with a vibro sword and a pair of blaster pistols. |

Simple fix - for this game's biggest issue
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 12/17/08 7:13:49 PM
Well isn't everybody just up 'n doodley happy about this game! Feels nice to get so much positive feedback expecially around the holidays! its my job as ship morale officer to try and keep everyone happy. So if the bridge crew are about embark on an adventure my job is to write them a happy limerick in the local chat hahaaa tihii and wish them luck. If someone is suffering from a bug in the game I simply do emotes and hope they get distracted. Should someone feel bored I simply tell them to log out and in a few times... maybe a more fun spot will open up meanwhile. Yessiry, this is life I tell ya, prancying around this ship for a few hours typing in chat.... c'est la vie! Seriously, I once too shared this dream of walking around in my own ship deep in space with my fellow crewmates. This was back around 2004 and PE's first version of STO... it sounded too cool to be true man. Then I thought about it.... for a looong time. What tha h*ll do you do on a ship thats fun(for more than 10 minutes) that doesnt involve combat, exploration and diplomacy ? Well, you could repair a junction thingymawingyon on deck 7 section 89 corridor 4 again.... wait for injuries in medbay... recalibrate the warp hotdog again. What Cryptic is doing definately works for me. Im in control, I can customize ship and crew. I dont have to wait for people to log on just to get a good bridge crew. I can explore strange new worlds at will. The PC bridge crew is still a great idea for guild events or instances. But for now I belive the current idea is the best one.
Happy Holidays!!! |

So everybody is a Captain, and Emmert is running the show?
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 12/01/08 5:52:03 AM
Here's some info for you guys....this is from the FAQ Q: Will everyone be the Captain of their own ship? A: Yes, but you will have to earn the responsibility and skill to command larger and more powerful vessels. Remember, in Star Trek as well as naval tradition, whoever commands the ship is the "Captain," even if it is not your current rank. Q:Will a gang of smaller ships, say, several Bird-of-Preys, be able to take out something like a Warbird using superior tactics and numbers?
A:Yes. Since we’re not using a traditional level-based system, smaller ships with good tactics and teamwork can take on bigger ships with a solid chance of success. Also check the out Videos, got some nice info there like the Romulans and Dominion will be added in expansions, customizable starship interiors with decks and medbay, holodeck etc., people can come aboard your ship.... Wow, that info almost took me like 3 mins to find and theres more on www.startrekonline.com, gosh they have a website! |

Yup. Nothing Ive read so far about Cryptics STO has me worried. Looks good to me. As long as nobody at Cryptics says anything about mounts in space im cool. |

WHY I WILL PLAY CRYPTIC'S STAR TREK ONLINE, AND YOU SHOULD TO
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 8/25/08 5:22:19 PM
Oh man not you guys again! You guys have been at it for years now.... how do you guys have the stamina for it? The same old same old tactics all over gain... first comes the "Here's why" posts and "This sucks" posts and "This rocks" posts, those containg a series of "I think this is the case man! - Nahaa, thats not flying Bob, this here's fact! - Are you high? This is the truth!" Etc etc etc. and then comes the (drumroll) lists. Oh yes, the lisssssssts. Those wonderful little pieces art mixing fantasy, fact and assumptions with both bold and italic fonts and numbers. They usually start out modest but by the time you guys have broken em down, built them up again, challenged this and that yadayada bla bla bla they finally emerge at the end, not unlike a butterfly emerging from cocoon at spring to feel the first rays of light, as HUGE colorful novell that would even amaze Spock in its complexity to decipher! But then.... maybe one gets banned and you settle down for abit, shake hands and pet eachother on the belly for job nice done. Then BAM a few weeks later some more news comes out and we are back to square one. Now dont get me wrong, I enjoy your little ... whatever they are. Im just simply amazed at yer endurance and willpower to do it for years. Kudos to ya! Keep fightin... Hoozah!
Mos out. *Plilululuwuip* One to beam up. *Schwaaaaaaang* |

General Discussion « Age of Conan 7/15/08 5:12:08 PM
It always amazes me when people compare AoC to WoW in terms of stability and content and polish. WoW has been released since 2004... thats 4 years ago people. 4 years of polish, new content and whatnot. If we are to compare them lets compare WoW 4 years ago to AoC now. Just try to look past the graphics and go for the other stuff. I bet there isnt that much of a difference. I played WoW a few years ago. Got to lvl 30 and realized one thing: This game is no fun, grindy and grindy plus all Rouges are retards Im playing AoC now. The game looks great( veeeery curious about the Dx10 version), but its fricking buggy as hell. It was much more stable at launch than now. Out of memory crap and graphics buggs out on me. The first 20lvls was the most fun I've had in any MMO, after that its fun but not revolutionary and the combat system is pretty fun with the combo system. But the chat system could use a touch up and so could the UI. There is also one thing about fantasy games that annoy me like hell. The dang running. Why do we have to run all the time and for so long a distances huh??? Oh yeah we get a horse at lvl 40 if we can afford one, more like lvl 55. Same thing in AoC and WoW, run here, run there... running must be like 80% of total game time. I hate running.... In CoH you could fly at lvl 14... Fly people!! In Planetside you could drive a tank/car/plane almost immidiately etc etc. But fantasy games? " Yeah you might almost perhaps if yer lucky get a mount at lvl 40-50 something, yeah" Oh, sry off topic there hehe.... umm yeah. Go back to wow and press that no.3 button 478 times straight during a 4 hour raid, sounds like fun. And yes, Mass Effect is real cool. Cheers. |
