Although I see your point, it's not entirely accurate, atleast on my server (I say 'my server' because I own it). Last night, on the first day of Land of the Dead debut, yes, a lot of Order were in the LOTD zone, but the implemented mechanic has it so that the opposing force, Destruction, has to gain enough Expedition Resources through RvR (T4 and Player kills) to gain access to the LOTD. Destruction was almost at the point of sacking Altdorf because not a lot of people were protecting it. That's just it though, if they WANT to keep access to the LOTD, Order will rush back to the main lands and fight to keep it. You know, even wars have intermissions.

This game is no where near the point to be considered a failure if anyone is insinuating that. It is actually somewhat successful in it's own right. It's got a few innovative ideas that other MMOs, in this or the next generation, will copy and become MMO standards such as Open Parties, PQs, etc. I enjoy the game from a creative standpoint but much more from a "fun-factor" standpoint. It's just fun. In my opinion, it does suffer from being shallow in most other aspect besides RvR, though they've made it no secret that RvR is their main focus. A couple of years into the future, I think they'll expand it plenty and we'll look back at it as one of the best MMOs.

Oh and as for the nay sayers who really haven't tried it, your opinion really isn't validated. And for the people who complain about "balancing" issues... well that's just a tired one-side argument because at your argument's core, you're really just whining that someone has killed you. Ugh... whiners.

btw, how many king captures we have 6 months after the game relased? I would like to hear them answering to this, I can imagine the amount of effort it will take MJ to come up with another 'you're all wrong, WAR is all perfect' post :P
truth is there is no endgame in WAR, its just the same boring crap every day.  well actually no, 2 weeks after 1.2 and we're no longer even trying to lock zones, people just got tired of feeding sorc/BW with renown :)

Saying there is "no endgame" in WAR is like saying you know everything about it - it's false. There is endgame like any other MMO. There are a few dungeons, live events that pop up every now and then and of course RvR. Six months after the game's initial release and the cities haven't been sacked yet??? Wow, now lets think about that for a minute. Don't the people have to be atleast lvl 37 to even make a valiant effort in attempting it? Doesn't it take time to get to lvl 37 before they do even attempt it for the very first time? I'd say both sides have only had 3 months or so before enough people were able to even attempt to take a city. You then have to anticipate the learning curve, because there is no manual on how to take a city. Plus the shear difficulty that Mythic made it, which it seems is a good idea. I'm sure it'll happen soon as on my server, Badlands, people get closer and closer each day. Sacking a powerful city shouldn't be a weekly thing and I'd be afraid if that's what you really wanted. I'm sure the next thing you'd complain about is that the game is way too easy or that everyone has the same gear because everyone has earned it from sacking the city too many times.

If you're looking for best, you need to look at Destruction.  They outclass Order on everything éxcept the BW/ dou.. think Order wins that one.

Lol you're crazy if you honestly think that. They all have their pros/cons but Mythic uses Mirror classing so every class has a mirror-image of themselves on the other side. The grass isn't greener on the other side... its the same.

No matter what everyone else says, I am having a blast. I played in the closed BETA and got a little burned out, I left before the 30 days was up. Went and tried WotLK...same ole WoW, except now everything is easier than ever. Played around for a few on CoH/CoV, it's ok. So then I made my way back to WAR, and am having a ball. It seems everywhere there is a chance for ORvR, or quick popping scenarios. The thing that made it fun for me again, was to stop listening to all the complaints, take my time levelling, hang out with friends in game, and win or lose scenarios or RvR we just laff and go find another fight...most people only post when they just wanna complain about everything, to me it's a fun game....sorry to bring the sunshine.

No doubt, I'm having a great time. I've been playing since beta but I stopped two months after release but resubbed in January. They've been busting their ass to fix stuff and add stuff. It's impossible to appease everyone with the changes they've made, especially when some people are just chronic whiners. If the game isn't for you, stfu and go play another game. Also, play the game again and do a more thorough review if you're going to bash it because a lot of your QQ reasonings as to why you don't like it are old, tired and need a sponge bath.

Yeah, someone is full of themselves.

I've played many MMOs and have enough experience with them that I believe I form good opinions regarding them but I don't see how that makes me "full of myself". I have an opinion and I believe it to be a good one based on my experiences and what I like about MMOs. Do you even care about this? It seems you would rather just stir things up.

Ok, so stop whining. Everyone who constantly cries about there being unfair balancing issues... just stop. Since the classes are different, there will never been a perfect balance and it's really difficult to be perfect at anything. I hope you whiners understand that. I don't see anything in the game as being "overpowered" and Mythic doesn't have a "hard on" for any side. Seriously though, just get over it.

The White Lion and Witch Hunter are great even after the Slayer has been implemented. I have both and they both beat the crap out of Destruction. If you put that much effort into figuring out your class, your play-style and your opponent and surroundings, you'd be great at any class. Everyone has weaknesses and strengths - it's about how you play and how you train them. Learn that and understand that before constantly complaining and filling people's heads with these "omg, the game is so unbalanced" and "Mythic sucks" comments.

Duplicate.

4800 as average per day... holy cow... even SWG in its old days has that much!
When 77% of all existing servers are closed, calling that no drama is a joke. Yeah 300k isnt bad. But apparently the WAR guys expected 3 millions, haha. The game just gets way too boring after a few weeks, and in the end I could not imagine anything but a drastic change to make this game fun. Which never happens anyway. Usually when stop playing a newly released game I left it on my harddisc to wait how it would develop, but in WARs case it was instant uninstall. Its just way too hollow and simplified to really catch my attention no matter what they do. How often can you conquer the same keep over anbd over. Blast door 1, blast door 2, run up ramp, ad nauseam. What a yawnfest.

This is where I think simple personal preferences come into play, perhaps in a bigger way than the perceived quality of a game.

In contrast to you, I enjoy attacking keeps and battle objectives because of the way the overall game is. WAR is essentially a strategy game within an MMO. It isn't just the attacking of a keep or BO, it's what those activities mean toward capping a zone and advancing your forces against the enemy. Large units moving, communicating, and fighting across multiple pairings in an attempt to defeat an enemy that is also trying to achieve the same goals. Fun stuff.

PvP is the other X factor. To me, PvP is often more fun and interesting than scripted PvE events or activities, because it really is unpredictable. Who I fight with (in terms of numbers, class mix, experience, gearing, skill, communication abilities, leadership, etc) is almost always different. Similarly, the opponent is also almost always different, in those same terms. In my opinion, that's some of the only perpetually new "content" you'll find in most MMOs.

Is WAR perfect? No. Can they do some things better? Sure. But, with some of the changes already made (i.e. zone domination, lock picking), as well as the proposed ones (adding another ramp in keeps, customizable defenses, addition attacker options), along with the Land of the Dead addition, it appears that WAR is heading in the right direction for an RvR game.

I agree with Rohn. Once you understand that the game is RvR-centric and let yourself sink it, it's a great game. The fun factor is high in my opinion. I've played many many MMO's and to be honest, I stopped playing WAR after a couple of months. I resubbed in January and have been having a great time with it. It's seriously fun with all of the activity going on now. I'm killing people in open RvR and if there aren't too many on (which is the case sometimes in the early morning), then I'll either do an easy PQ, some light crafting or go into a scenario for a bit. I think Mythic is doing an outstanding job improving and if you haven't played since release, understand it's not the same. Condensed servers (because Mythic over-anticipated) is a good thing at this point because each one is much more active and booming with oRvR. Oh and for all the folks who think the Scenarios are the main focus of the game... no longer is that true. In fact, it was only true for the first three months or so and since then, they've revamped the oRvR. I can honestly say that this game is getting better and better as the months roll on as they constantly release patches, alterations to improve things that are complained about, and add new content, i.e Live Events, Live Expansion, Etc. Furthermore, I see this game being successful.

For all the haters, because you really have nothing better to do than base your old, tired opinions on a first-released product - try it again. Keep in mind though, it's extremely RvR centered and if you are constantly looking for a game that is all encompassing, you're going to be disappointed. It's an RvR game with other elements and is working for me and roughly 300,000 others and will continue to grow.

P.S I'm pretty picky when it comes to MMOs and my attention span is very short. So my opinion is worth a damn.

Hehe, no doubt. Maybe I should rephrase my question, what is the purpose of all these haters? To destroy fun for people who have fun where they don't?

And some of you must be omnipresent to know all these factual figures... wow. 300,000 + 15.00 + box sales a month is not bad. You really have no basis for your figures or your "prediction". Since launch, they've implemented quite a bit with constant updates, live events, input the classes they were missing from launch, and even announced a live expansion which involves the last two classes, a new rvr dungeon and other improvements with the few bugs, etc. I don't get why there are so many haters? If you'd actually played the game for more than 7 days and really tried all facets of it, you might actually enjoy it.

WE? I stomp on WE almost constantly with my Witch Hunter. I can actually beat, routinely, a WE who's a few ranks ahead of me as well.

I agree that these ideas sound like a great idea. However, I still want more to do in the game. You don't ALWAYS want to fight the opposite faction. In order to make the game totally immersive, I would say that it needs some other side-games and such. Every game has some variety and while the focus is to be fun oRvR, they should still give the choice of doing something else.

First off, you look like you have almost no dmg reduction. Secondly, he landed a critical hit on you which doesn't happen often and he might have large amounts of weapon skill. I've hit people for close to that amount as a White Lion but only with a critical hit.

Yep, I'm looking for an Order guild on Averheim.  I'm a Talisman/Salvager.

Pherysane is the name in the game.

I have a Rank 15/Renown Rank 12 White Lion and I have an easy time becoming one of the top DPS'ers in a Scenario with much higher ranks barely beating me in damage output.  You do have to play them right though.  Some abilities obviously do more dmg than others so character placement and lion placement is vital to good dmg output.  You cannot just spam "Hack" all day long and expect great dps and/or just stand in one spot and expect great survivability.  Use your environment, war lion and your abilities strategically and the White Lion can be one of the best.

Oh and yes, there's a bug where the War Lion's bar will disappear and I've reported it several times.  I'm sure it'll be fixed.

Now, I've been a fan of DAoC for quite some time.  Ever since the release, I was fiend for that game.  I liked the openness of the environment, the group-oriented PvE, the RvR implementation of BGs and Open-RvR and lastly, the Crafting.  It was a good mix of all and I found it to be quite pleasing.  Of course some things grow stale over time and you're going to get a bit bored of it but the thing is, it's how long it takes to get to that point.

In WAR, I'm having a great time with RvR and somewhat of a good time with Crafting.  I see it as being a healthy mix of great ideas from previous MMO's including DAoC.  I do have some gripes though.  I think this game will be pretty successful in it's own right just based on my opinion and my track record is good so far.  However, I hope Mythic will consider maybe adding some other type of Crafting, Weaponsmithing, Armorsmithing, etc.  You need something else other than the seemingly "Utility-only" crafting.  I'm not saying I want to create useless items but creating weapons/armor/seige weapons is helpful and I believe a lot of players would welcome it.  It gives another point of variety into the game and variety is what keeps that "stale point" I was referring to above, away.

The openness of the environment seems to be very limited too.  I don't mind following the story along but for some reason, I feel like I'm too led along.  I'm not looking for the cliched "sandbox" game or whatever, but it adds to the variety when you can do more than follow this linearity.

These really are the only gripes I have and though I'd like to list all of the positives, there are too many and I'm tired of typing.  Hmm, that's all I have for now.

All valid points and I will add in that the chat system is horrible.  No one ever talks in this game since instead of getting a zone wide chat we get every small area broken into a chat channel.  Not to mention the chat window is ugly.

I'm also giving the game it's full month, but I don't see the game having much long term appeal.  The PVP can be fun, but the game really seems to lack a "soul".

They probably limited the chat to areas because world wide chat can get bogged down with spammers and idiots.  This way, if you ask a question, someone is more apt to assist you because they'll likely be dealing with something a bit more relevant in that area.  Sure there is room for other area-unrelated questions but I hope you get my point.

And hmm... the chat window is ugly?!?  That's interesting.  I've never in my life not wanted to chat because the appearance of the chat window.  It really has no bearing on whether I have a question that needs answering or feel like commenting on what someone else has already said.  I hope this was a joke though because I think the UI is great.  It's customizable without having to download a 3rd party mod and the chat window matches the rest of the UI stylistically.

A. Kollaps, you're wrong.

B. Synn, you're right.

(Can't elaborate right now though, 'cause of NDA).

Vicks, I'm in beta for WAR, I don't believe you are.  I see a lot of potential in this game to be successful in the MMO market.  As successful as WoW?  Maybe not but who really knows.

I do see the RvR experience to be very engaging and definiately not "slow and static".  What was slow and static about it?  When I play, I am constantly moving and thinking of strategies to stay alive and kill the opponents.  I can tell you that the fights are not drawn out or boring.  You don't two-three shot someone and move on to crush others.  Even if someone is a few levels higher, they won't defeat you so quickly.  You most likely will have help, in the scenarios, and depending how much help you have, you should be able to take them on and win within a minute or less (rough estimate).  I've played WoW for quite a while, I've played DAoC for quite a while, I think I'll be playing WAR for quite a while as well.

Oh and as for the "avatar floating on the stairs", it's closed beta.  It'll most likely be taken care of before release.
