You should have played a warrior... there are reasons why warriors difficulty rate is 5 stars ;) |
|
|
I am now at level 56 and I haven't experienced ANY slowdown during the leveling process.. its still too fast... from 50 to 52, took us around 2-3 hours... and now at 56... well it feels a tad slower but I can tell you there is definately no steep xp curve at the end :) Also since you are moving always to another place (which always look even greater than the place before), I think the leveling is really well done. Yeah its traditional questing, but due to the graphics, open dungeons and cool BAMs I enjoyed the level process alot. |

Only 2 stars out of 5 on amazon with over 600 ratings?
General Discussion « Diablo 3 5/16/12 3:13:57 AM
Wow I always heard diablo will be the next gen hack & slay, but I have never seen such a low rating on a game within a long time. I mean 3 out of 5 stars would be ok counting a lot of angry people in, but 2 stars tells the average customer its a crappy game. I mean I am not really interested in this hack & slay game, maybe if I am bored I will want to try it out... but does it really deserve 2 stars... is it the greediness of activision and the loss of the core people from blizzard maybe? The true Diablo creator are working on torchlight 2 anyway... Just wow... |

Well won't do this because then its downgraded to 30 fps :( ... and we all know that on a monitor 60fps looks simple much more smooth ;) |

True and I was surprised that even the german localization was well done. Usually I only play those games in english due to bad localization... but in Tera you can really play in german too - even the voices are synchronized... |

Lol who is the troll here !? Sorry but the last game I played with her together was Aion a long time ago.. and as I said... there wasn't any MMOs worth playing out there the last 2 years... ! And yeah Tera came totally suprising for me... it was a friend who told me and after that I contacted her again, because I wondered why it didn't do well in korea... - so she explained me her view - that's all, no more, no less. But hey, no need to believe me, if that makes you happy, just believe the rumors... ;) |

Yeah NCSoft is more than angry at bluehole studios... they hurt their sales a lot! On the other hand it gives them some free publicity. |
|

The good thing is since tera wasnt really hyped (at least I didn't know about this game - just got recommended by a friend) .... so it could start small and is now steadily increasing... something that is much better publicity wise than the other way around ;) Here in europe it is currently ranked #1 in last weeks sale statistics (taken from mediacontrol). |

Sorry but you don't need to get convinced... thats just some straight facts. My girlfriend is actually living in Seoul... and she is playing there. So yeah I now a lot more about the situation than some people who try to tell that the game was a "fail" in Asia. Which it wasn't. Just because they had to merge servers because start was huge success, but subscription drop afterwards due to no real end game content, sounds pretty familiar to me... ! But yeah we all know what happens with facts if they get in the right mouth, aren't we? :) No need to play Tera if someone doesn't like it, I can just say that the game is totally healthy and the population is currently growing - just through word of mouth... - so I am pretty impressed, because 2 month ago I didn't even know about Tera and I haven't played any good MMO the last years. So yeah it was even a big surprise for me too... - the good reviews and good sale numbers here in europe just approve this. Surely we can't judge the future yet, but guild wars, politics and drama usually have much longer lasting effects than stupid battlegrounds with points and ranks... |

Hey there, I just uploaded a video with 60 fps (most sites limit you to 30fps) - so you can see the true speed and smoothness of Tera. Its a really cool boss, pretty fast and has some evil attacks. Forecasting the attacks of the monster, timing and good reaction makes the difference in here. I guess here you can see what end bosses will be about later on. As most other videos show you success, this was our first try with randoms and sadly we couldn't beat it. But nonetheless it was fun, so I thought I would share with you. Always remember you are playing this game like a 3rd person shooter/hack & slay game. There is no target, auto hit rating or mouse pointer... ! Video - Marutash - Level 46 - World Boss (610 MB in size, be sure to have at least 20Mbit if you want to stream this file, otherwise right click and download it) Enjoy, LD P.S. Just in case you wonder, the video is not accelerated. We just have a few attack/move speed buffs on. |

Guys stop bringing wrong information about the game in here - if you haven't confirmed it yourself. I have a girlfriend from korea and the game didn't flop! They just had a tough start. The game was hyped a lot and had the best launch of a MMO with the most concurrent users ever (thus so many servers at the beginning). Since the game is pretty easy to go to max level (koreans are hardcore grinders), the politics system, hard mode inis etc. and most of the PvP rules were not implemented by that time (also they had several issues with hacks). So people got bored fast and returned back to Aion - as always the game was released a little too early, so lost a lot of initial customers. However now a year after, they have a lot more content - politics, guild wars, nexus etc. ! And since we have this from start, the game will do alot better here in the western. Oh and BTW 15 server there is still a lot, because TERA servers can hold a lot of people due to the very large world and the channels. Just look on one of our German PvP servers, we now have over 600 guilds registered ... the top most have over 200 members! Just wanted to say this because its ridiculous how much wrong information about this rumor is going through the internet :) |

Strange, I make good money with crafting, and I am far away from level 60... ! I think its totally cheap to craft... you just should not start crafting with a level of 10-20... start crafting with e.g. 35 and you are totally fine. Use the mats you picked up from gathering and from the drops and you can craft some very viable stuff. I guess most people who had a bad experience with crafting just started to early and there it looked like a big money sink. |

Well there is only a very small percentage who have problems (actually for all of our guild members it worked flawlessly) - the forum represents not even 2% of the player base. So servers are full, people are playing. Surely it's sad for those rare cases who have issues with the account but well that kind of stuff can always happen. Hopefully you will be able to play soon... |

In regards of Tera, I would still say you can't compare Guild Wars 2 and Tera's combat. Combat is a area where Tera really as a very big advantage. Especially because Tera is 100% synchron like a shooter. With a normal ping you will have absolute no delays. If I move my char on one PC in TERA and I look at another PC, there is absolute no difference - even your facing is totally accurate. I haven't seen this in any MMO as of yet. I only know this precise behaviour from shooters like Counter Strike etc. And I also think thats what makes combat in Tera so stunnning - also the animation totally fit your actions - in GW2 the combat animation are not really fluid - its ok, but not stunning... and there is a delay in all of your actions... so it will be hard to do "true action combat" in gw2... You may enjoy other one over the other, but the combat is definately better or at least more exact and "true action like" in Tera! |

I don't have any problems with EU, nor with Frogster.. I am from EU and I want to have the best ping in a game like this :) The PvP server has a big queue, so I can tell you Tera Europe is doing very well. Believe me one thing people moaning on the boards are at most representing 1-2% of the total player base :) Everyone from our guild is having a blast so far :) |

I am pretty sure you will love the game. I also didn't wanted to try this game, but I am glad I did. Its the first MMO after a very long time that sucked me totally into it once again. Let alone the awesome true combat system, open world pvp with politics and drama instead of instanced battlegrounds with rankings and stupid points. Most of my friend which actually played TERA are hooked so far :) - so I can really recommend it to you. |

Sorry I didn't wanted to say something bad in your forum... but I thought it was a VS thread ;) I don't know anything about their engine... I just speak from experience. Those are cores things that can't be simply changed. Its all about how you design an engine. I know that it is like this in GW too, but just look on 2 pcs what happens... its FAR from being truly synchronized like tera is. You can talk about that you like the story much more and questing and whatever other features, but the "true combat" and animations are definately not compareable to Tera :) - otherwise you haven't really played it yourselve, beyond the starter area... |

Well I still think you cant compare combat in Tera and GW2. Tera uses a real FPS approach. All of your positions and actions and those of your foes are 100% accuracte and synched. All executions of your skills are (at leas tif you ping is below 100 - which it should in europe) absolute instant and without delay (just think like a normal shooter). I tried it with my wifes PC -> when I move on my PC I instantly move on her PC too - something I haven't yet seen in any MMO. There is absolutely no skill delay, lag etc. - this alone makes combat so much real time. In GW2 how often did I time the skill wrong because I had to take lag into account - and don't tell me they will fix this. The problems lie in the engine. Tera uses the Unreal 3 Engine... it is made for totally synched fight because its comes from shooters. And that exactly is what I think stands totally out in Tera. Once you get to the later bosses and you fight (or in pvp), timing is so important and the feeling that you don't have any delays, that you feel your enemy due to collision detection etc. is so awesome. Also the fact that hit rating and evasion, solely depends on you and not on skills/level/gera is a big plus. Regarding PvP ... well some people prefer instanced PvP and some prefer open World PvP with Politics and Drama instead of points and rankings and fairness. I guess that just depends on your mmo carrier... |

People are different... I can't agree to most of the posts here... in my eyes the combat in Tera is so much better than in GW2 - I guess I can never move back to point and click MMOs. Besides the quest which are truly good in GW2 it doesnt offer anything nice. The PvP for me is completly crappy... I hate instanced PvP! Nothing is better than Open World PvP with politics and drama and not about stupid rankings. But well there is something for everyone. But if I count everything together and if I take the awesome graphics of tera (and the so fluid animations and combat feeling with collision detection etc.). All other MMOs just feel so old :) Our guild is having a blast in Tera and we will definately skip GW2 for now. Let's see how Teras endgame is... and how long we are hooked there. But it looks like due to the open dynymic of the game it will be much longer than any arena or battleground instance pvp can give us. |

Also one very important thing that creates a much better fighting immersion is the fact that the animation locks are not just locks, they are absolutely well tied to the characters animations. E.g. as a warrior if you are doing side steps while attacking, you can do so, but you will only move step by step in between the attacks... but the animations are so fluid and fully aware of this so you dont see some gliding or flying character moves... it looks totally realistic. Thats also one thing I absolutely liked about the combat system. And it must have been pretty hard to make the animations fit together with the skills etc. - maybe thats also one of the thing why so many people say that the graphic feels so good after finally playing it - the videos don't do it justice... - graphic wise you can see that GW2 doesnt use any graphical work here... animations look pretty bad in comrparision. Sure a game is not just about graphics, but it adds or removes immersion to it. That was why I couldnt stand WoW fights (except from being fun)... but people jumping inside other characters (also no collision detection), doing attacks while running around like crazy, just doesn't feel right to me :) |
