yeah, Im a reporter and Id like to know this one.... I mean... theres NO info on this since orks have NOT been in ANY phase of beta2 if you read the notes all the betas have been chaos darkelves and darkelves+chaos since last fall.... oh and last fall, the Light tank "choppa" grew in size as it gained power and started to bnuild waaagghh!! as seen in the video I took. |

Im gonna call it for you right now... same things gonna happen here that has happened in EVERY game the past 15 years of MMO's
everyone is gonna start out making "cool charachters" and playing hybrids and other classes that do cool things. By the time everyone knows the game and it comes time to pvp against others people wil figure out that you can kill MORE people if you have one small unit working together comprised of Healers that heal, support classes that support and tanks that are sturdy.
Remember daoc? everyone ran around in a zerg... healers speced smite, casters speced for aoe and tanks just ran out and died to arrow fire. Once we all learned the game? Every group was 3 healers who healed and 5 tanks for the most part. Remember wow? everyone played a rogue or a hunter and all the healers speced shadow. Casters speced for aoe and everyone ran around in a zerg. what happened once 5v5 arena started? 2 warriors, 2 healers that healed (priest and a paladin) became the "go to " mold for a group and casters speced for single target damage and DOT's So im calling it right now. There are two healers that heal in the game... rune priest and the chaos priest. And there are two heavy tanks.... one in orks and one in Dwarves... and there are also two no frills light tanks.... one in dwarves one in orks. So I think dwarves will be rare in the beginning but everyone will have to reroll to make the best tank and best support class. I think in the end Rune priest will be the best class in the game. because its support only type. it will be like the midgard healer and the holy paladin. |

Will WAR be friendly to part-time gamers?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 4/28/08 5:51:27 AM
please dont confuse wow esq gear progression with no gear at all. ALl games have gear..... WoW and EQ have gear as means of leveling up and not leveling up as means of leveling up. having an END game based around gear and raiding dungeons means the casual gamer will not be able to keep up... thats wow and EQ In DAoC it was "casual friendly" because the casual player could make the same armor that you got off raids and all gear had a stat cap. so even if you played 50 hours a week and raided all day long and slayed dragons to your heart bleed.... you still wouldnt have more than 250 str and no weapon would ever do more than 16.5 damage.
casual friendly means I can come home at 6 and log on and play... not wait around for a raid or wait for computer controled dragons to spawn to fight.... I just log on, sharpen my axe, and walk in the direction of the burning city to have a good time for the night. |

Will WAR be friendly to part-time gamers?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 4/28/08 1:40:48 AM
what was funny about daoc was that the top scorers were all grownups/part time or limited time players. Back then I was a full time gamer and player all day long.. but I had to always get off the game from 6pm-11pm when my then girlfriend came over to visit. My brother who worked full time in the city only played from 7-12 and outscored me every week! why? Because most of the scoring in an rvr game gets done at prime time when everyone is out killing. remember most of the scoring that goes on gets done by killing.... open world killing. if nobody is home then you wont score. so yes the game is casual friendly. you can log on at 6pm get into 2 hours worth of fighting and then log off and not miss a beat. there is no gear progression like wow so you dont HAVE TO play or fear falling behind by leaps and bounds. |

majority of the moves are combo and reactive only a FEW charachters have an anytime melee attack ike mortal strike/sinister strike. and NONE of the classes can win a fight pressin 1 button..
the light tanks front line fighters and the witch hunter/Witch elf deal possitional damage... since in theory they will not be standing toe to toe with anyone |
|
|
white lions use melee skills with a 2h axe to case effects. they also have a pet kitty that deals damage along with you and can even grab agro so you can deal back and side possitional debuff attacks. |
|
Originally posted by Ralsarthats because in most games you have a pet to help you pve and you are a ranged class. white lion is going to be a melee class. so its pick your poison.. kill the pet or fight a tank, both are going to deal damage to you. DAoC had a class called hunter. it was a shooter class that was melee oriented and had a pet. when in melee combat your pet did damage to your target and this supplimented your damage output. expect the pet to have back stab ability and damage over time claw attacks. I would also expect "team"attacks. like having a special attack that is only active if target is bleeding.... but the only way to make target bleed is by using the pet. light armor with high damage output and a pet as your "offhand weapon" type damge |

How often will a city be capped?

Originally posted by Pheace Wait... U cant just 1 liner and walk away. explain yourself. I take my geekdom seriously. And I was in college and unemployed in 2000-2002. I played daoc about 10 hours on a SLOW day. (shudders at the thought of being a young 20something again) Marathon sieges are an oxymoron. a SIEGE by deffinition was a drawn out Siege : any prolonged or persistent effort to overcome resistance. surrounding a keep and wearing it down with trebs and banging on the door for 30 minutes... or taking a tower so you could treb the walls and have a base of operations, and then you add defenders and respawns? unless you were an alb and outnumbered people 2-1 or played with 3-4 animist friends at all times.... keep sieges were long. |

Originally posted by Krayzjoeldont want a marathon siege?!??! you do know thats an oxymoron right? kinda like cold heat and safe combat. a SIEGE is supposed to take a long time where as capture the flag takes a few minutes. wow pvp is not war RVR. to give you some insight, keying off your "people have to go to bed" line. the first week of the new frontiers rvr system in daoc.... so its the same system we will be using in keep and city warfare in Warhammer by the way..... I was running around and saw an invasion force comming up the road using the river bank as cover to not be discovered. I quickly U turned and ran the other way to defend the closest keep. They laid "siege" to my keep which I defended with boiling oil, and I used guards casting magic insted of shooting arrows and I set up for a long fight. This was at 9pm. Reinforcements came and we held them at bay for a long time, finally at about 11:30 they broke down the outer wall... they full charge into the keep and it was something out of the final scene from "glory" we had casters on the ramparts and melee in the courtyard and decimated their main push. but outnumbered 2-1 they were able to fall back outside the keep. so our force rebuilds the wall and we start all over again with them slowly trying to bomb the wall and destroy the keep gate.. it was late for me so I went to sleep. I woke up, went to work for a few hours and came home to log on at 3pm. I log in to the SAME keep and the SAME battle STILL going on. yes boys and girls... it was a 20 hour siege that only ended because the third realm came and jumped in and steamrolled the attacking forced from behind. a scene like this can also happen in war, especially with a town siege (this was just a keep) I would say you will ATTACK a capital every 4-5 weeks and one will get TAKEN about 4-6 a year. (just like relic raids) |

Auto facing, no point in circle strafing?!
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 4/23/08 5:58:20 AM
Originally posted by xenogiasthere really is no such thing as "lazy" in this game. each class has 3 times the amount of skills than WoW classes have and there are no 1 button skills, most are build up or combo moves. you actually NEED the auto face because most time is spent looking at how much special or morale you have, the other 2 tenths of a sec are spent making a decision on which skill to use... I dont have time to be busy with circle straife... besides... if I call upon grok smash with my shaman... is the fact that you ducked 90 degrees to my left and "out of line of sight" going to save you from my GOD stomping on your head with a 40ft look foot? |

General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 4/23/08 5:53:15 AM
All spells and charged abilities automaticaly FACE the target You can not jump over, on, into, or thru your opponents.
so yes, to recap, there is no debate, its already in the game. what we now need in the game is /stick command. a complaint I have, and I had a tester at comicon say.... you can run back and forth... in and out of range (aka jousting) so that the person with the slowest attack always wins. so in theory a bright wizard can run in with his 5.0 speed staff... whack a choppa with his staff for 80damage and the choppa will hit with his main hand for 50damage but before he can get his offhand and other 2 attacks.....now by mechanics the choppa would get in 4 attacks and deal 200 damage and the caster would get in 1 whack for 80 but insted you are going "hit for hit" and the caster is winning because of the 80 vs 50 damage advantage. thats my only gripe |

My 2cents on Stealth /No stealth (For what its worth)
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 4/15/08 7:16:30 PM
For you guys who are used to "escape ability" I hate to break it to you, but to escape in war you pretty much have to just sprint away and lose all morale. Think about it like this, everyone has melee so you pretty much are supposed to go down swinging before you die. its a WAR. |

wow is balanced? you dont balance a game with gear. so theorycraft..... stealth = 5 sec to go into stealth and you have 15 sec to move towards a target before coming out of stealth. during which time you will be invis until you get close at which point you become translucent/shadowy hard to see. would you take it? because remember... these classes are fighters not rogues. the point is to help the light armored classes close on their targets. not scout, not hide not, infiltrate a keep or walk past monsters to solo a cave encounter. I for one would rather them add a charge ability like the warrior class has in wow. |

Originally posted by URMAKER go play daoc. one realm has a stealth fighter that can backstab with a 2handed axe!! another realm has 3 stealthers, an assassin, a stealth archer and even a stealth support class! |

will you go back to warcraft if warhammer(or conan) delivers ?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 4/10/08 5:04:32 AM
most fans that I have spoken too..... the "pvpers" wont be back and will play war even if it bombs. I know myself I will play warhammer online even if it launched with the beta it has today. Warcraft is something I will only play so I can cover news on it. balanced player vs player combat is what I like. time to move on to better and newer things. |

every class has a mirror class in the opposite side. the classes arent always directly opposite sides however. like the warrior priest (fighter healer) is NOT the opposite of the chaos priest (debuffer healer) he is the opposite of the diciple of khaine (melee healer) the Black ork is anti melee tank, and the sword master is anti magic tank. the Chaos warrior is an offensive debuffer/melee and the knight is a buffer/melee so that pretty much leaves you to black guard being the opposite ofIronbreaker. if you look at their core skills you can see this. You hit an ironbreaker and it gains grudge and grudge makes him stronger. you hit a black guard and it builds vengance, and uses that to do special moves. so I am actually expecting the black guard to be just as unstoppable as the ironbreaker is. ironbreaker FYI is/was by far the most dominant of the classes. it was like playing a protection warrior in wow with full epics but a non epic green 1hander, and fighting a bunch of level 65's in normal items. your powerful and feel unstoppable, you just cant 1 shot anyone. EDIT. ok so you build vengance like an ironbreaker builds grudge. but your focus skills will be anti magic tank insted of anti melee tank. so your the opposite of a sword master only using grudge bearer mechanics. |
