Hell yeah,I'll play a 100% PvE MMO as long as it is a true MMO and not those lame, piss poor Single player game with co-op advertised as MMORPG.I used to love PvP but after seeing the worse in the community in various game,I have no interest in the overated "PvP is the real thing" because it's all ZERGS.

Copernicus should be intresting . I want to see tods art.from the horse i seen them rendering in a vid it didnt look like his comic style tho.R.A.Salavador has done years of history for the world.Hes built a whole history that goes back over one thousand years if i recall right.

We do know more about the secret world oddly enuff than Copernicus. An it should be good to.at least the grafic engine shouldnt be as much of a problem as its kinks are being worked out in AoC.

If my memory is correct I think they are using Unreal engine 3 + Morpheim .

Bill I'd add World of Darkness Online to that list in place of one of the others (2-5) going on the same premise as your number 1 pick. In fact, if you put it at #2 then your top 2 picks represent the only two games in development that I am supremely interested in knowing more about and hoping for a pleasant surprise.  Warhammer 40K Online would probably be third on my list only because I worked for GW for a bit and that I was really disappointed with WAR. The interest comes in seeing if GW learned anything from WAR and puts their influence to use in designing WH40K Online very differently.

Agreed with you about World of Darkness and I would have add The Secret world to the list too.Copernicus looks like the game that really can bring something fresh and new. With people like Ryan Shawder and Steve Danuser at the helm. With his team R A Salvatore has written 10,000 years of lore,so we can expect a solid story driven MMO.Anyway we will start hearing more about the game soon.

and the only animation from "Copernicus" can be found in this video

Like many has suggested FFXIV may be the next game for you.It will have more than combat as progression and there's also The Secret World but this one might hit the market in 2012. For the mean time check this world wide Multi-gaming community The Older Gamers also known as TOG.I'm sure you will find some like minded people there.

If they make it a sandbox with Elder Scrolls style combat, then yes, I am one excited individual.

If they make it like a "World of Warcraft" type game, than epic, epic, epic fail.

Exactly, what makes TES what it is,is its openess,I'm expecting an mmo with no predefined classes. All you have to do is answering the questions of "whoever they might call him" to know under which sign you were born and earn some basic attributes and from there you build your character as you wish.

They are deleting the group content, making the game more solo friendly. Check my thread in the LoTRO forums here.

Looks like you forgot something my friend

During these past  weeks I have been thinking about going back to LOTRO.I started back when the game launched and left after 5 months. After playing almost everything that has been released during these last 5 years,I found that all these games lack the community feel I experienced in LOTRO.

I'm still undecided because I don`t want to enter the game and found myself alone in the lower level zones and solo all the way to higher levels.I like to play with people and see people all around the place.

Will it be difficult for me to pick up my 50 Minstrel and play to 65 as lots have changed since I left?

Best has been LOTRO for being friendly. Worst is WOW for being unfriendly.

QFT

I found the LOTRO community to be a great group of folks to enjoy the game with.  The WoW "community"...not so much.

Agreed 100 %

Best community by far was Vanguard/LOTRO and I will maintain(my opinion) that Lotro is one of the best community. And the  worse community is WoW.

I agree that on the surface this isn't that big a deal. Most people probably don't even remember what characters they have under level 20... I know I don't. And the low character wipes don't bother me.

The problem is that this move comes from a company with very little "good will" in the bank. And by very little I mean none in most people’s minds. Other companies could do this, and it wouldn’t hurt them much if at all. Funcom though, can’t make these kinds of moves. It just refreshes people’s memories of why they left this game in the first place.

Unfortunately for Funcom they’ve put themselves in the position that any decision they make, no matter how seemingly insignificant, will be highly scrutinized.

It seems like every time the waters start to calm a bit for Funcom, they make a decision like this. It's frustrating and entertaining all at the same time.

By who? A bunch of whiners, forum trolls who did not play beyond level 20,who has never played all the new content that has been added post Gaute era.You must be kidding.

This game belongs to Funcom not the other way.

I reached the same conclusion as OP, but from different perspective.

PvP MMO's are fail because the encounters are almost never "fair". Either the level of your opponent or you is too high, or he has better equipment, and so on. That really makes things too unbalanced to be good. Then add the fact that classes are never completely balanced.. Basically, the encounters don't depend on skill alone but factors that it shouldn't depend on.

I think only Guild Wars does it right, because the level cap is so low and equipment doesn't give much advantage, so things stay balanced. But as for other MMO's, PvP is almost always unbalanced by default because of this.

It's why I prefer PvP in other genres like FPS, and PvE in MMO's.

1.PvP in level base MMO will always be a fail because no matter how good a player is, he/she will always lose against someone who is better geared and higher levels.

2.PvP centric MMOs fail in immersing me in a world at war.As a player I never feel being a Warrior Nation fighting my enemies/invaders.No matter what the devs do it always end up as a FFA fps.Only three games have succeeded in it,DAoC,EvE and Guild Wars.

3.Massive world PvP is another myth just like virgins riding unicorn,it always end into a massive Zerg, there's no tactics only big zergs, zergs, zergs.

Shylock you described exactly ,the reason why I stay away from PvPcentric games.Your FPS analogy is spot on.

Locke you described what will make me enjoy a PVPrpg game.

Gear is not that important in AION as it is in some other games. At lvl 40 I wanted to have some nice stuff crafted by our best crafters but then I realised that it's not worth spending time, resources and Kinah. So my cleric is still wearing some random Blues & Greens

I got ganked by a Glad and a Ranger in Beluslan, they were both one level lower and I defeated both. While checking the combat log I realised I was able to survive due to my Stigma stones >Earth wrath>Blinding Light>Flash of recovery.

I will get better gears at 45 to be able to survive in the Abyss till level 50.

Dam when i saw the title of the article I was hopping there would indeed be more info on WOD.  :)

Samewise..anyway CCP is the company that I have the most respect because they love their playerbase. They don`t try to bite into several apples like most MMO companies have been doing during the last 5 years.

Their success = hard work + dedication.

Why the hate?

Because it's an abomination of what Vampires should be.

More open world games, without zones and instancing.

Skill based games as opposed to level based.

Cheaper subscription costs, after all we are in a recession.

More games that have 1 giant server as opposed to many servers, if possible.

More tools for roleplayers, like better character creation, ability to modify characters after creation, ability to wear vanity clothing while getting stats from other gear, dressing rooms, housing with lots of furnishing options, pets, emotes that allow two avatars to actually touch (Matrix Online did it first), etc.

Agreed 200%

Build a world don`t limit your creativity in just making a game.

because its an RvR based game and you get owned regularly by level 40+ guys. That's why you want to level up quickly... just to compete...

Your mindset is what makes Aion a grind for many...your better off elsewhere imo. I have 4 level 30+ toons (non above 36) and I just rolled a new one today. Its about the journey, not the end of it.

That's the main flaw of a PvP/RvR level base MMO.For People to compete each other they must be around the same level or may be one or two levels difference.

Players won`t mind of the journey if they constantly got ganked by higher levels, they will rush to max level to be able to compete. No matter how skillful a player is,a higher level will beat the holy snot out of your sorry ass...always.

When I look back from where AoC was and what it has become and more to come,it's clear that all those who buried the game after the first 3 months were wrong.Instead of a swansong it looks more like the Phoenix Rising.

It's good news indeed but a little too early though.Let's wait and see how things evolve as we already have a disgrace of an MMO with the Warhammer label on it.

I hope  their unannounced MMO gonna be Ramayan 3392

Never been out of mana either with full chain gear at level 24 .
