I think this looks like crap. The only bright side I see to this article is that it might lead to something fun someday.

The whole lore thing is just for roleplayers, which won't be the people who control these two points. There will be villages by the sea is something good, the more villages the better, but that doesn't in any way promote sea battles, except that it's a spot to hit with your cannons, and even that's favoring the big alliances.

I see nothing good in this for the game, nothing. If they had 20 towers, then small guilds could attempt to take one, that would lead to more ship usage, and battles that follow, two large points is going to crush any small teams hopes of a sea presence.

I hope there's a lot more coming, or this is just a pure waste of time. Not only crap, but then to top it off the large alliances will get the clan of choice free recruiting.

Bad all the way around.

Sea villages should promote small scale sea battles while these will promote larger conflicts.   I think it is better to be conservative with this then to over dilute it by something that sounds cool but does produce.

They probably also need to do something that promotes treasure hunting and fishing like in the old UO days.   Deep sea fish could provide certain potion benefits or something.

warhammer orcs are too cartoony.   i am gonna say darkfall orcs

edit change my vote to lotro orcs

Darkfall made it on the list because... people thought it was vaporware? That's it?

I agree with the list as a whole (though I would've included some in the list and not others, they all have reasons to be in a top 10 list), and that even Darkfall may have its place here, but not for the one lame reason given. What about it's unusual "limited account releases to take it easy on the servers" method of trying to give original players a good launch? What about all of the bugs and issues that future games should learn not to make? I'm sure that others who have followed the game closer could come up with a few more big hitters other than, "Wow, no one expected THAT ONE!"

Given the number of games that have been darkfall and failed from mourning to dark and light DF i think DF has a place on this list.  Not above eve though

Maybe funcom really should just give up on MMOs.  Does not seem to be their strong suite.  AOC now i think is a great game but it took them forever to get it there.

A Darkfall fan admits that they are using twitter with a big circle of friends to make sure that Darkfall gets tons of clicks every day. If even 30% of the Darkfall players clicked it once per day they would probably get enough to get the n1 spot each day.

MMORPG.com should do something, or that list means nothing, perhaps they should just remove it if they can't.

I would think it  more likely a few people using some sort of program to do this and not thousands of people have put a coordinated effort together up darkfalls ranking.  believing that 30% of the darkfall community,  thousands of players,  are all working together in some sort of conspiracy like this is INSANE.

If you'd been around before launch and after and paid any attention at all to some of the more "eccentric" of the DF fanbots, you'd realize the only insanity is that they HAVE DONE IT.

Zorvan i have been around for both.  And the thing between df fanbots and trolls is they are both equally insane.  But neither is coordinated enough for a stunt like that.  One would be insane enough to do it but not the masses.   Which is why I suspect a program  (i should not say suspect should more say obvious) The OP here is just the flip side of the coin for ya.  I have seen enough of your post to know you do not fall into the retarded troll area.  But do not pretend the the trolls for this game are not equally off the wall.

darkfall runs mostly off 1 cpu so more cores are not gonna help you a lot.

that is not a horrible drop off rate,  average retention rates for MMO after the first month i think is normally 40%

I am actually enjoying dragon age more then mass effect.  Been a long time since i played so Kotor so hard to judge.  Dragon age is more of a setting I like though then sci fi.  Low fantasy FTW.

As for a lot of the complaints for the opening post.  I can only say you seriously misjudged this game and what it was suppose to be.  Its kind of like complaining about GTA because there are not enough dragons and you like fantasy.

Nice MO does have really good lore.  Hope they implant it well in the world and don't just leave it hanging like shadowbane did.

Wish they would update the races though.

That is good news, and with all those other people leaving because this game is very very very  bad today,,,,,each of you can have your very own server in a few months.

Aion is strong right now, and guild wars two will have as much as AOC does....so really there are at least 15 better MMOs out today(better defined as more people play better MMOs) and there will be more out soon so only a fool would pick up this dying game.

Aion does not really hold anything against a revamped AOC.  AOC better graphics,  better combat system,  better quests and PvE,  Better beginner area,  better zones,  better lore,  not sure about better pvp or not.  Did not experience the Abyss so.

I'm wondering if I should get the ps3 or PC version. I know once Left 4 Dead 2 comes out, my gf will bitchslap me out of my desk chair. Then again, I do love my PC. I should just bite the bullet. Now the questions are digital version or retail box? CE or standard edition? Oh noes...

Cripes, there are some solid games coming out. Probably my favorite year of games in a long time.

I'm still playing Fallen Earth, Uncharted 2, Way of the Samurai 3, and Oblivion: GOTY for ps3 (never ran right on my pc). I am having gamer overload.

Gamer overload is correct. My friends and I were talking about that today. Between Borderlands,Dragon Age, Oblivion, Left 4 Dead 2 and Mass Effect 2 its like madness in a good way. We're poor but we're happy gamers though!

Tried some dragon age... seems like they're basically just finally getting their older games right with some upgrades and decent new features from other successful games.  The story seems like it's going to be great but not sure what this has for someone looking for something new.  I still think Risen offers the most as far as great fun and some innovation although you could also say that they're finally gettong gothic right.

Risen did not really do it for me.  Will have to give it another go around.

Bioware has an absolutely amazing formula when ti comes to making video games.  It is one they used in all their games from nwn to mass effect.  if you played them you know what i am talkng about.  Weather this formula will work in an MMO is still to be scene.  i think it will work,  but will be pretty solo oriented and heavily instants.  Your party members will instead be replaced by other players online>  Then throw some raids and pvp things into the mix and you got a pretty decent MMO.

I guess a new conspiracy theory is born.

Yes. I hear the new buzz on the streets is calling patches expansions. Anyway, I just made my tinfoil hat, and a double-layered one, at that.

They provide enough new content in them that they can call them expansions especially with them being free.  This is not uncommon throughout the entire MMO industry.  People only make a big deal out of it because they want another reason to rag on this game.  There are many good reasons to rag on this game,  but trolls do not like to stick to honest criticism alone.

The hit thing is odd definitely though.

Read my posting history about this, please. If you have questions, we can talk over PMs.

Do not have the time,  have read most of the arguments for and against it.  We would likely just bark stuff at each other we both already know.   Prob would not change each others mind on the issue anyhow.

Was gonna flame this post.  But most of the stuff is stop on.  AV has to their credit though covered tons of problems and this games does fix itself overtime,  Given the fact its not even a year a old they have made incredible progress.

Darkfall is not a game to give up on.  it may be a game to cancel for a few months.  but it will produce.

one of the odd things about the df team.  Especially since it is a pretty unconventional game.  Is their total lack of ability to l implemented creative game mechanics well done.  They are good however at taking a revolutionary big picture and over time working it into an actual reality.

They are also above and beyond committed bastards.   Almost all indy dev teams can boast the overtime they put in.   Aventurine however puts even those to shame.  This game has survived its insanely long development due mostly to devs commitment .  They all even tasos deserve credit for that.

Just to let people know.  Anyone with an Unsubbed account can still transfer it from EU to US free of charge.

Early on the Aion combat for me was funner then warhammer.  All other aspects of the game subpar though.
