He probably never played Darkfall and Shadowbane.

In terms of best PVP game out its Darkfall, and will be for a long time (MO being designed more for RP supposedly).

  Most people must be major imbeciles (and the mods must completely understand where im coming from) to Deny Darkfall the number 1 PVP spot, in any circumstance.

Eve is not FFA pvp (empire space)

DF was built up for pvp and thats why ALL the greatest pvp guilds are playing it, from Blood to Themercs, to Sinister, Murder Herd, Oromea and much much more. WoW pales in comparison in any shape and form compared to DFs pvp.

Werent you a big fanboy of Aion? Why dont you hold back and take care of aion's issues than giving your opinions on a game that you dislike, let us the knowledgeable DF fans take care of DF info.

Besides Mount and Blade (which by DF combat dev quote is 70% drawn from MB) is not a MMORPG.

BTW M&B is a great game

Darkfall had this since its inception, one of the many reasons I consider it to be the only real PVP mmorpg around. (eve has empire space so that wont fly with my opinion of PVP should be)

good to see you are having fun.

But really to have friends and a guild ingame will expand your enjoyment tremendously. To have a hamlet or city to call home and defend it, to go out hunting monsters and people with clanmates, to have someone watch your back while you harvest...i'm sure you can understand why being in a good guild will make the DF experience much better.

Sure you can solo and have seen a few soloing, but you need to have a PK mentality and perhaps played UO Felucca or AC Darktide for a long time to understand what i'm saying.

but seriously at this moment its Darkfall, and when MO will come out it will be there along with it. EVE also, even though I dont play it I respect the PVP guidelines and death penalties.

EDIT: and the Daoc fanboys, drop the little tag team match that DAOC is, give it a break seriously. In terms of PVP old school Asheron's Call Darktide shits all over DAOC mordred or whichever server you want. There is a reason all the old school PVP guilds, the serious ones, are AC DT vets. No one brags about playing DAOC.

I agree with the review, although I would rather rate it a 7 myself.

The graphics were made to support a high number of players, so while its not AoC it does what its supposed to do. Sounds the same. The need to grind and or macro is a big issue with me, and the current melee is way too fast, needs to be slowed down.

Besides that its a good game, and stays true to what it was designed to do.

 I thought you quit the game in discust months ago.

Just wait until a month or so and see how excited you are by the vertical slash, gathering resources, skilling magic and the dozens of other boring monotonus tasks that you must engage in.

 

So far, every title I've played is full of monotonus timesinks, some games are just better at masking them and calling them something else than others, but when it boils down to it, that's what it is. Gathering in Darkfall so far has to be one of the most mind-numbing processes because of how long you can use a node and the amount of fails, thank God it's an automated process, tho, and I can watch TV, read, or do whatever when I go on a gathering session.

I've dumped in over 25 hours so far, it still isn't much, but I have learned, and become accustomed to a little bit more of what Darkfall is. I still couldn't tell you how much I'm enjoying it, if I'll continue to play until the end of the free month, or what have you, but I haven't wanted to /wrist yet, so it's not all completely horrible and bad. And yes, I know, I know, just wait until I play for another week or so before I make up my mind, and if you read every post I've done on this thread, that's exactly what I'm doing.

Some highlights of my day included watching the mounted and shiny armored guys slay eachother all around my poor little Goblin camps, and me looting them and stocking completely up on shiny armors and weapons. That made up for my three hours of chopping wood, molesting these little bushes with my sickle, and running everywhere trying to find an Iron node that wasn't tapped. I didn't like the train of 4 fellow miners that followed me from metal node to metal node, tho. 

Joined Blood and have been seeing tons of familiar names from my AC days. Tired of the noobie outposts, really want to head out to one of the guild towns or whatever, not sure if my sexy little Kitty/Doggy (whatever he is) man is ready, tho. Hmmmm.

Well Blood is finally up for some fighting, after what 3 months of farming and building their defences.

The fight versus the goons should be pretty sweet.

 I was much more impressed by Darkfall's Alpha video than this cinematic hogwash.

I cant believe so many of you themeparkers believe "omg this game will be awesome" from a CGI movie, just boggles my mind.

Show me CGI as an intro and the rest (90%) ingame footage, running around, fighting, PVE whatever. That will impress me...

Notice I didnt say the game sucks, it will be good probably although not my flavor (FFA PVP). But i'm just amused from the praises you guys throw around "omg this is best EVA omgomgomg!!!" from watching CGI.

Perhaps i'm just insane, lost my edge prolly thinking that....

DO NOT COMPARE EVE TO THIS GAME - EVER - FOR ANY REASON.

in eve, there's a ton of stuff to do.  in darkfall, there's just more grind to macro thru.

npcs -- in df, you bug them, get where they can't hit you, or otherwise exploit the mobs.

construction in df - pretty much a joke.  you grind for assloads of building modules and build up the predesigned cities.

quests - what? 5 or 10 quests?  yeah, df has no pve worth mentioning.

 

don't compare this joke of a game to eve - EVER.   all of the above... darkfall is pre-school.  by comparison - eve online is sophmore in college.

 

LOL, EVE and DF are almost the same in terms of content - EVE just has more carebear-oriented content.

 

- small handful of quests in both EVE and DF

- EVE has different ships, DF has different weapons, skills and spells.

- DF mining is just as boring as EVE mining.

- DF has a lot more varied terrain that actually affects the outcome of battles, EVE is always just space.

- construction in EVE and DF is very similar; DF does not have jump gates and cynojammers, EVE's POSs are not as elaborate as DF's cities.

- DF's mobs blow EVE's away; EVE's mobs are braindead stupid. apocrypha added sleepers that are about equivalent to DF's hard mobs but that's only recent; 5 years after release. not to mention auto-aiming and auto-targeting == sad.

- EVE has research-invention, which is a bit like DF's enchantment.

- you could easily argue hauling is a huge timesink/grind in EVE, which DF doesn't have.

- DF has nothing like EVE's market stuff, yet.

 

and the best one: grind. lol. in EVE you have to time-grind your char for 12+ months just to get enough basic skills to even compete in PVP, and even then you'll ALWAYS be worse off than 90% of the game who have 20+ mill skillpoints more than you. in DF, you can be equal to 90% of the server in 2 months of regular playing, no grinding.

 

i realise you're an EVE fanboi, but at least try to be objective. i too play EVE and i like it, but saying EVE is OMG SO MUCH BETTER THAN DF is just wrong. EVE and DF are both excellent games and very comparable as sandboxes.
