Quit ages ago.

All of my ingame friends left, too.

all I can say: no.

good review.

game wasn't for me, though.

I got bored. yuck.

"yes - 10.3%"

What the fuck where those 4 people thinking?

A F2P game will never be like WoW. Especially one like PWI. PWI is all about hack 'n slash for the first 10, 15 levels. Things don't change much from there (except the addition of PvP).

WoW is not hack 'n slash, and the community actually talks.

Just .02% of my .02¢

I have played WoW, GW, and countless/mindless f2p games. This is one of the better f2ps for those that have never played WoW.

To be completely honest, the gameplay is nothing new. It felt exactly like World of Warcraft, but smashed into a smaller map and you can only be human. There is a mailbox, works the same as WoW. The Auction House works the same as WoW (the interface even looks like it was copied and pasted). Everything is basically the same - EXCEPT leveling your skills. leveling your skills is not buying the same skill, but stronger, over and over. In RoM, you receive Talent Points (TP) from killing monsters. With this TP, you can level your skills. Basically, you will eventually max all your skills.

The dual class system is a lot like FFXI like other people have said. I've never experienced FFXI, but you can read above.

It has even been said by the developers that they bumped up the time required to level so that people would "enjoy certain aspects of the game longer". However, they really meant "we want you to grind, but hey! there are EXP boosting items in our cash shop. yes. the cash shop!!"

TL;DR Version: This is exactly like WoW. No new gameplay systems. You basically sign up for two characters in one because of dual class characters.

I would strongly advise doing this:

- Find good builds for your Heroes and then H/H the missions
- Find a PvE guild/alliance that would be willing to help you achieve the title(s).
- Find some in-game friends! They make everything much more fun.

I bought them all seperatly, and I must say when I played Prophecies back during Xmas '05, Guild Wars was at it's peak.

I think that Prophecies is the most "new-player" friendly of them all; followed by Nightfall and then Factions in last.

Why?

Prophecies was made so that people could group together and get a whole area to themselves for a quest, mobs, or farming. It had steady leveling so that you could get used to your class as you progress through Tyria.

I was "okay" with Nightfall. It is a game where you like it or you don't. When I started, I did not like it because I brought my Prophecie character to Elona. You really need to start from the beggining of the story line for Nightfall. The feature that made Nightfall a hit was the introduction of Heroes. It made soloing the game much easier. I'm not really into soloing with a bunch of NPCs. I play an online game to play with others. Also, the environment of Nightfall was constant sand. sand. sand. sand. desert. sand. I'm not into that, but that is just my opinion.

Factions had a crappy story line. The character development was not made for a new player either. You can get to level 20 in a matter of 4 hours. Just do all of Shing Jea Monestary's quests and you are set. Factions was made for PvP, not PvE. There are a few PvP-game outposts and the introduction of Alliance Battles definitly showed that Factions was pro-PvP. I do enjoy my PvP games every now and then, but ArenaNet focused so much on the PvP content that the PvE plot-line suffered.

That is just my $0.02. I liked Prophecies .

same exact thing happened to me.

I probably created about 17 accounts along with many email accounts to get on this game. Not a single one of those emails arrived. Heck, I even put in my bellsouth email to get on, but still no email.

I sent them a message in the Help Center, and it hasn't been responded to. Tells you how much the care.

I gave up yesterday morning and started trying other games...

It stinks cause I really wanted to play this game.

Every time I try to install this game, it will say something on the lines of "This file is corrupt, please download a fresh copy and reinstall."

Anyone know how to get around this? I've used every download client on the main site by now, and nothing is working.

Whenever I register... I add my email in and wait for the verification. I wait my hour, but no email has come. I tried to register a couple of months ago, and no email ever came... and it is doing it again.

Has anyone had this problem and/or gotten their email in some special way.

If it helps you help me, I'm using a yahoo.com email address.

I played ROSE Online when it was in Open Beta. I really loved it and got a lot of my gaming friends to play along with me. We all enjoyed it completely, but had to quit when we found out it was going to a P2P game.

Since I really liked ROSE so much, I have been trying to find a game that is fun and/or extremely close to ROSE.

So my title says it all. Is this game in any shape/size/form like ROSE Online?

what a vague review...

but i can't resist on your opinion that "if you like KH, this is good for you" because i am a Kingdom Hearts fanboi.

i'll give it a try.

I'm playing till my temp-ban for Guild Wars is over.

mine is extremely different.

Dog Redrat.

Seriously people?

"How do you know it was your cousin?"

um... news flash - I think people would know who their relative is. Most people don't just walk up to other people and assume they are their cousin. Sheesh.

I understand the whole, "it is a younger audience of players... so they are trying to avoid them learning bad words". So I agree with the temp-ban.

But honestly, I'm appauled at some other posters that think that you don't know your own cousin. Seriously - that is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Whenever I launch the game, it comes up EXTREMELY laggy. Like, takes 5 minutes to type in my user name. When I log in, it takes ages to make a character. I have not been able to play yet because the lag is so bad. I really am doubting it is the server.

I am using Windows XP - have avery up-to-date graphics card. I donno what is the problem?

Any suggestions?

They will lose subscribers if/when they take out Blood Elves and Night Elves as race choices.

then all the 10 year olds will be gone. HORRAY

Get a 14-day trial first. Oh god, this is a must. Don't be dumb like me, and pay for the full game, the expansion, and two months of gameplay, and realizing you don't like it before the one free month is up.

only problem with 14-da trials is you can't trade or whisper people unless they whisper you first.

WoW is very fun. It isn't for everyone because of the cartoony graphics. People that can't afford it usually get upset and yell "IT SUCKS!!! I'VE PLAYED, I KNOW!!!" when they really don't know anything about it. The game has come a long way since it started. They balanced out the classes more than they were years ago (shamans aren't the kings, warlocks don't suck, BM hunter > MM hunter. stuff like that).

The community  has its typical "lol noob you are gay" players. the typical "this game is my life" players. the "i'm here for something to do" casual players. The community is great. Just don't have trade chat on while in a city, unless you are buying something.

The graphics have come a long way than what they were... don't look at the banner on the top of the WoW page and judge. they are a lot different than that. If you have a really good graphics card, the game is AMAZING.

other than that, i'd advise a 14 day trial... if anything. even though you might not meet people through chats (except say) because they are blocked to trial accounts.

I have been playing Guild Wars for a school semester now (August 25th till tomorrow). I quit WoW because I thought it was "repetative" and "boring" and all you could do was raid to get better. Well I was wrong.

After playing Guild Wars, I've come to the conclusion, you can't beat WoW as a game. WoW, in my opinion, just has more to do. GW got dull once you beat the story line. WoW, you can get rich, get more gear, raid, quest, play the BGs. GW you can start a new character or play the dreadful Alliance Battles, or title farm (which is worse than leveling 10 characters from 1-70).

Props to Blizz for showing that this is the best game out there... I'm hopefully joining up again tomorrow when I'm done with my last final.

and i'll probably get flammed for my post, but whatever. The internet isn't that super.
