[Media] General: Brand New Comic Debuts
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/12/13 3:11:44 PM
Bill Murphy's comments under the comic were intresting to read, but even after reading them I feel I don't understand what was the point of the comic. There's usually some joke, or some story that the comics tell, but this one seems to have nothing. And it doesn't look like an introduction about characters and topics that will be covered in future comics either. |

Originally posted by Nanfoodle I'm ready to change my opinion a bit: Maybe they should add a follow command that would work max. 5 minutes and have 30 minute cooldown. But aside from allowing people to take short breaks, I think follow command is bad for the game. People should not be given tools to be less attentive while playing. |

I think they should not add follow command, because AFK, botting and multiboxing aren't desirable playing styles.

Is this internet fast enough to play mmo's and rts games online?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/09/13 1:01:54 PM
The bandwidth is good enough if you've got a good connection and really get that bandwidth with good latencies, even during peak hours. However if your net operator has sold more bandwidth than they actually have, and during peak hours your network performance jumps up and down because the operator's network is busy, then the bandwidth wouldn't be good enough. Good and stable connection is more important than bandwidth while playing online games. EDIT: You can check how much bandwidth you use while playing by using a program like NetLimiter: http://www.netlimiter.com |

Most solid MMO graphics engine of 2013
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn 3/09/13 8:05:48 AM
I think ArcheAge's graphic engine looks better. It's a bit early to start talking about most solid graphic engine of 2013 since the year is only beginning. |

I think it would be really stupid to pre-order before they announce the pre-order details. I'm waiting for the game, and will likely be playing at launch day. But buying a product that Gamespot invented in hopes that it'll match a real product that will likely release some time in the future is just stupid.

Is KickStarter just a charitable contribution without a tax deduction?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/07/13 9:53:54 AM
Originally posted by zymurgeist Zymurgeist you need to reread the Kickstarter rules, like the part where it says: "Project Creators are required to fulfill all rewards of their successful fundraising campaigns or refund any Backer whose reward they do not or cannot fulfill". Or where it says: "By creating a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter, you as the Project Creator are offering the public the opportunity to enter into a contract with you. By backing a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter, you as the Backer accept that offer and the contract between Backer and Project Creator is formed" Kickstarter Terms of Use are clear that it's not a donation, it's a contract between project creator and the backer. And the project creators are obliged to either fullfill their promises or refund the backers. Source for quoted rules: http://www.kickstarter.com/terms-of-use |

Is KickStarter just a charitable contribution without a tax deduction?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/06/13 8:04:58 PM
Originally posted by zymurgeist I disagree with the part in red. Kickstarter projects go to great lengths trying to promise backers the finished game, artbooks, miniature figures, and other goodies. As a result the promised value of what a backer gets if the game is released is usually significant compared to the money backer spends. That makes it a purchase. If kickstarter projects really promised you something like 5$ worth for donating them 5 000$ dollars, then it would be a donation made to them and not a purchase. But most of the backers are promised so valuable rewards that it does not qualify as a donation. |

Kickstarter would only be charity is backers were not promised anything valuable in return. So many Kickstarter projects promise finished (and valuable) products to the backers that it's a purchase, not a charity. |

I'm starting to wish they'd just let people install Windows to PS4. Then use mouse, keyboard, monitor, and completely replace their desktop computer. |

Find out how copyright laws in your contry work, then publish everything in internet and try to get some game devs to look at it. You won't need to worry about anyone copying your idea, copyright will give you enough protection. |

I'd suggest going to some large electronic store that has keyboards on display and lets you test a bit how the keys feel, then choose the one that feels best. It's about personal preference and there's no choise that would be good or bad for everyone. Personally I love Logitech K800, it feels good when writing. But it's just me, and other people have different tastes. |

It will be hard to find legit reviews about Sim City 5
General Gaming « General Discussion 2/25/13 2:07:46 PM
Originally posted by TheScavenger I take it you haven't experienced it when single-player game is unplayable because of some f***** server somewhere is down and thus copy protection prevents you from playing your legally bought game. I think it's unnecessary to complain about SimCity's reviews when the same problem is with every new game. So many of the reviewers are either trolls or blind fanboys that it's hard to find a legit review no matter what game. |

I haven't heard of that issue before. But if you want you can also validate your e-mail by going to account management on SWTOR website, and clicking the "subcriptions" -option. You'll be redirected to e-mail address validation page that should work if you haven't validated your e-mail address already. |

The Creepiest thing you have done in a MMORPG.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/24/13 8:24:59 AM
I was trying to innocently quest in Stonetalon Mountains in WoW and got a quest to rescue frightened peons from a mine. I went to a peon, clicked him, and he said "Oof! You touch naughty spot!", but I god credit towards the quest so I went to next peon. Again same reaction when I clicked him "Oof! You touch naughty spot!". I wasn't really doing anything creepy (at least intentionally), but I was honestly creeped out. Why did Blizzard write that answer to the peons when they are rescued? What exactly was my character doing to rescue those peons? Quest was "And That's Why They Call Them Peons", http://www.wowhead.com/quest=26047/and-thats-why-they-call-them-peons |

CU will be renamed. Let us throw in some ideas.
General Discussion « Camelot Unchained 2/24/13 3:31:44 AM
I think they should keep either Camelot or Unchained so that the new name would be easy to remember for those who remember the old name and the hype would better carry over to new name. My suggestion: Players Unchained English is not my native tongue so I'm not quite sure how native speakers would interpret that name. |

Definitely no. Players who paid for the game are already entitled to get any patches to combat mechanism, balance, interface and control options free of charge.

Why is there NO humor at all ?
Reviews & Impressions « Star Wars: The Old Republic 2/23/13 5:32:23 AM
I think some of the humor was sacrifised because of voice overs, cinematics and conversation choises. Bioware's conversation system is much harder to write humor with that WoW's quest descriptions.
