So I decided to come back and give Rift a try again, I haven't played since release. This is what I am getting every time I try to play.

Anyone have any idea why I would be getting this? I saw that account management was down for maintenance. Would this have anything to do with that? |

I already pre-purchased the DDE of GW2 and played in the first BWE. It was pretty fun, but I want to give Tera a shot as well. I am going to pick up the DCE later today.

Guild Wars 2: PVP and World vs. World Preview
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 2/20/12 9:42:28 AM
@hikaru77 - I don't think we are going to experience the problems WAR had here. It is a similar system but a completely new game. They have also went out of their way to fix a lot of the problems with RvR. |

Guild Wars 2: PVP and World vs. World Preview

Great article. I was hoping for more footage but I understand it was probably hard to record with the client not being fully optimized etc. |

The game looks great, and will be playable across many systems at launch (which was their goal).
Examples:

http://www.swtor.com/media/screens/jedi-knight-sentinel
etc
You may have had a minor arguement when they released the first couple screenshots of the game, such as the force choke screenshot with the gigantic lightsaber, but the graphics have changed a ton since the TOR website went up. They are very detailed, and there are many more examples of it if you look for them.

" PvP fans will use the option to turn voice-overs into quest text. They will rush through to endgame in order to have the best gear and skills for pvp. BW knows this. "
Not true at all. I am a dedicated PvP player but I plan to really enjoy the story in TOR. Not to mention I am a huge fan of single player RPGs as well. By your logic, anyone who likes PvP really doesn't even like gaming. lol |

So is this that game that microsoft was making?
General Discussion « True Fantasy Live Online 1/06/11 5:24:41 PM
It probably would have been a good game, considering who was developing it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_Fantasy_Live_Online
True Fantasy Live Online was an MMORPG in development by Level-5 for Microsoft's Xbox video game console. After a long and troubled development cycle that lasted close to two years, the game was cancelled on June 2, 2004. The game was to take place in a massive fantasy setting where up to 3,000 users, each with their own fully customizable character, could adventure around with each other fighting monsters and collecting various items. [edit] CancellationOften cited as one of the most disappointing project cancellations of recent years, True Fantasy Live Online was highly anticipated almost right from the moment it was announced in 2002, and was touted as one of the premier titles for the Xbox and its Xbox Live online service in Japan.[citation needed] Yet despite being "fully playable" and near completion according to Microsoft around the time of its cancellation, the title's development was littered with complications from the very beginning. One such problem was Level-5's inexperience with online network coding and their inability to properly implement voice chat compatibility into the game. It was a feature never before implemented on such a large scale in an MMORPG; however, Microsoft was very adamant on its inclusion, as it was a key feature to their Xbox Live service. Relations between the two companies soon began to spiral out of control as Level-5 struggled to meet the demands required by Microsoft, who in turn grew frustrated at the lack of progress being made on the game. After an extremely short and rather underwhelming showing at the Tokyo Game Show in 2003, True Fantasy Live Online was quietly delayed from its initial Fall 2003 release into 2004. From then, little was seen or heard about from the title, and after a surprising absence during the year's E3 convention, it was officially cancelled by Microsoft on June 2. In the months following, Level-5 President and CEO Akihiro Hino stated in a Japanese interview that the poor relations between his company and Microsoft, partially due to the latter's inexperience in dealing with Japanese developers, was one of the major reasons behind True Fantasy Live Online's cancellation. He also heavily implied that the two companies did not part amicably. In an interview in 2008, the CEO Akihiro Hino stated he still has many ideas for True Fantasy Live Online, and would personally like to work on the game. Whether or not the game does come back into development has yet to be seen.[1] In a July 2008 interview with edge-online.com, Shane Kim, former general manager of Microsoft Game Studios spoke in regards to failed Microsoft MMORPG projects (including Marvel Universe Online, and True Fantasy Live Online). While acknowledging that the cancellations were the right thing to do at the time, Shane Kim also felt that such games could be successful on the Xbox 360 platform.[2] |

Why is everyone so sad about APB?
General Discussion « All Points Bulletin (APB) 9/16/10 11:51:28 AM
" APB had great customization and look what happened to that game. Great character customization must not be that important to players. "
That would be a true statement though. Great character customization is not that important. Look at the games with the best customization, all failures in the western market. Aion? APB? etc.
Don't get me wrong, having some customization is great, but being able to move your nose 1 mm up or down or being able to make yourself super short just to be obnoxious is just completely unecessary. |

With as much of a failure and boring piece of trash FF XI was do you actually believe what you are saying? FF XI was an absolute joke, and you can't even jump in the stupid games. Square should stick to what they are good at, single player console RPG. Oh wait, I forgot, they haven't even been good at those since 1997. lol |

Count those years for me. December 2006 (1 year), Dec 2007 (2), Dec 2008 (3), Dec 2009 (4). That's 4 years this game has been in development for over 4 years now. Most MMORPGs are in development for less time than that, and they aren't using the Hero Engine like Bioware is. The engine they are using really speeds up development time by letting developers edit the world without a server shutdown. They can receive feedback instantly about whatever they are working on instead of having to wait for the server to shut down and to come in to work the next day and then finally get some feedback. |

Well, I was thinking about checking this game out and hoping it wasn't garbage like FF XI was, but I really hate games that don't allow you to jump. It just feels so restrictive and confined. I guess I will just stick to All Points Bulletin while waiting for TOR. |

Was thinking about trying this game out (Is it pay to win?)

Is it another pay to win game or is the item shop not necessary to be competitive? My interests are mostly in PvP. |

General: Dragon Age Sex Controversy Examined
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/15/09 8:48:37 AM
You know what I am sick of? Retailers and people of this world acting as if video games are just for children. I am a 29 year old male and I have been playing video games my entire life. I enjoy doing it in my free time. I prefer to play video games as a hobby rather than go play golf or something. How come it's fine for Wal-Mart to sell rated R movies but a rated M video game always causes some big controversy? I got news for you media, the big spenders on video games these days are in the 25-29 age group, and there is no reason you should be crying over a video games that were rated appropriately. It's as stupid as if you were against Wal-Mart selling rated R movies, or any other retailer for that matter. Grow the hell up. On another note, why is it in American culture (if you can call it that) that it is alright for a movie to spill blood and guts everywhere, mutilations, murders, rape, torture, you name it.... but sex is something unnatural that should be left out of movies? What the hell? Sex is unnatural but we can watch movies where people are tortured and murdered in cold blood, and with gory realism I might add. Let me repeat that one more time, murder is natural but sex isn't. What is wrong with you people? |
