DAOC popped my MMORPG cherry long ago, I have been out of the mmorpg world ever since Vanguard flopped. But anyway my question is, how does WAR compare to DAOC? Is it too cartoony like WoW? Is leveling too easy? Hows the music? Etc.

*Also a side question, do they have any plans to release it for Mac's? That's a huge advantage that WoW has for now*

i heard about this, installed it again. launched it and in seconds i knew why i pressed uninstall long ago. the game is still a pile of steaming crap. needless to say it was uninstalled minutes later. its dead...just like all mmorpgs these days...ps the client wasnt too large like some other ones out there.

next time post your "personal background" so it doesn't sound so funny. gaming forums..

1. Drop the First Person view, if it is really a mmorpg it will stick with the 3rd.

Yes I agree. There FAQ sounds great and grand-but also too good too be true. Not to mention kind of unprofessional. Reminds me of Vanguard-everything was going to be great blah blah it will have this and that etc. Launch came and was nothing but bugs,unfinished work and totally lame. Plus this sounds like they are going to need A LOT of money to pull this one through, Sigil couldn't even do it on their own so can these people? who have never made a mmo before?(i am saying that without actually looking up their history :)

Sounds to me like one of those games that will either

A) Be stopped due to no funds

B)Released too soon(probably due to no funds)

C) Sold to $oe and given the old "Upgrades or Enhancements or Revision"

But anyway, yes macs are catching on, no they are not immune as much as you fanboys want us to think, everything can be exploited.  Why are there fewer viruses and spyware on macs? because not as many people use it, it's simple logic.  Hackers want to screw over the mass populous, not the 1% of people (made that up dont jump my ass and say "OMG APPLE HAS X% OF THE MARKET THANK YOU!).  Also, PC is easier for people new to computers (older generation) to use, as more places will be able to help them (Geek Squad, Firedog, etc.)  And those people usually forget to protect themselves, its fairly simple, and I agree with the other poster, all it takes is a bit of common sense to avoid getting infected.

Anyway, Apples aren't really focused as gaming machines.  Macs are usually a LOT more expensive, and compared to a gaming rig that's a PC, it's a rip off(for what you get).  From what I know, Macs are mainly good for photo editing/video editing.

Besides, if you really want to play MMORPGs on your mac, why don't you just run Windows on it?  And if you really want to play MMORPGs, why did you buy a Mac in the first place?

Most people who don't have viruses/spyware on their windows PC have to use a whole program which is usually a system hog that runs in the background.

I'm not a PC hater-I have both, I use a windows pc desktop but use an Apple for a laptop.

Windows PC without any firewalls/antivirus/antispyware on nowadays is like a Quarterback with no linemen.

Mac without any other programs is like a QB with a full line out of the box. And if you want more linemen you can get em to be extra secure.

I really think that dev's really need to start making some high budget mmorpgs that are playable on Apple computers, I see more and more people on mac's everyday(especially college students). The mac is making a huge comeback and might even catch up to windows pc's in years. One reason Blizzard is so succesful is that they made WoW playable on Mac's-opens a whole new door and a whole lot more sub's. Seeing that WoW box in Apple Stores helps a lot-those stores are usually crowded out the door everyday! Not to mention, while running a game on mac means no spyware no viruses running in the background like most windows pc's have whether you know it or not. I don't play WoW so there really are no mmorpgs for me on my mac :(

Either way, Nirvana was a good band; Dave Grohl more than made up for the lack of talent any other members of the band may have had.  Sad that Foo Fighters nowadays has been reduced to what I can only positively identify as Country.

God Foo Fighters is such a better band than Nirvana...

And actually to calrify Grunge is really  a Sub-genre of Alt rock so it's not really a Whole genre. And Nirvana was actually only the mainstream success for Grunge so people associate the birth of Grunge music from them, but in reality look at bands like Soundgarden, the melvins. green River etc.

THe reason he killed himself is because he became so famous.  Not that he became famous because he killed himself.  He was huge before he killed himself and whether he had or not he would still be taught in Music history class because he did start a whole new genre.

Stop giving credit for creating a whole genre to one person. And he was suicidal and was a drug addict who OD many times. Sorry i didn't know that YOU know why he killed himself and the rest of the world doesen't lol.  maybe you should go down to the Seattle police dept. and tell them everything about a case that they never really solved.

Secondly, 99% of all really good jazz guitarists are technically better than anyone on that Rolling Stones list.  Rolling Stone magazine isn't worth the paper it is written on, what a worthless conduit into the music world.  Ontop of that, I hate Jazz, but I know talent when I hear/see it.  LOL, Ketih Richards made the list, what a joke.

Thirdly, most of the bands in the OP could be considered hard rock, but to use the word "metal" is astoundingly idiotic.  There are no metal bands on that list persay.  In fact, hard rock is stretching it, as most of those bands are simply rock bands.

Anyone ever seen Dream Theatre?  Personally, I cannot stand their music, but IMO their guitarist is one of the best of all time.  I have never seen anyone move the frets like that guy.

Also, certain death metal bands have far more talented guitarists as well.  Someone mentioned Slayer, I concur.  Going deeper into the fold we have such guitarists from Carcass, I Killed the Prom Queen (best metal guitar solos of all time), Nothingface (best rythm guitarist of all time), Kill Switch Engage (noteworthy guitar player) and etc.  All of these bands fall into the classification of "metal".

I really wish people would stop abusing the term "metal".

Actually not really, If you wake up tomorrow and the date is september 196x and your listening to Led Zeppelin-a lot of people will say your listening to hard rock and perhaps even metal. Jimmy Paige is a founding father to Metal Dont forget about time period, what metal is today is totally different than it was.

It's kinda silly trying to compare guitarists and saying X is better than Y, at least after a certain standard of musicianship. Other than perhaps technical ability and knowledge of theory, (in which case the "best" would probably be some virtually unknown session player) it's entirely subjective and depends on what you consider to be worthy criterea to judge by.

 

The Rolling Stone list here would appear to be based on innovation and individual style. What the guitarists on this list have in common is that they were ground breaking and have a definitive, recognisable way of playing. For instance, you couldn't say that Chuck Berry would be technically better than Joe Satriani, but he was certainly more original and influential.

I agree, comparing apples to oranges. Carlos Santana can do all kinds of techinical things and face melting solos, Jerry Garcia was only great in his own style-some people thought he sucked...yet he is further up the list. Never really liked Rolling Stones "Lists". They dont give credit where credit is due usually.
