Hi all,

     I guess many of you know I frequent these forums and I do hate to start a new thread about this but I am really concerned about my computer's ability to handle Age of Conan. I can run most games well but not great. I can run COD4 on almost max and Crysis on the most basic of settings. Also when I game, thats it - nothing running in the background other than standard Windows processes.

My computer set-up is this (and forgive me if I leave out something important):

Windows XP 32bit
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (2.4ghz single core)
Asus Nvidia A8n5x Socket 939 MB
2 gigs Corsair RAM
XFX Nvidia 9600 GT

My main concern is the processor. The sad part is that I am about maxed for my motherboard with the processor so that means that I will have to upgrade, MB, RAM, and processor; and lets just say money is a wee bit tight right now.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Your computer will do decent on medium settings in most areas except crowded areas of course.

By decent I mean 25-30 FPS at most.

The thing setting you back the most is the CPU yes.

Your memory is fine, your video card is fine but your MB and CPU will slow you down pretty bad.

Also it helps to have a fast hard drive. The game loads alot and its huge. over 25 giga of hard drive pace.

So loading screens tend to be LONG and will happen often. Changing zones, entering/exiting instanced stuff etc.

What do you mean? Surely that rig would run conan, just look at some of components. That is what I use and if I ever get a chance to play conan I would expect it to run quite well. I am guessing maybe 64 fps in most areas with some hiccups and a bit of decline when more players are around and so forth, but easily playable. Maybe on the starter area when theres few npcs and no players.

You want 64 fps u will have to turn down alot of graphic settings.

Your rig is decent but dont expect full eye candy and nice performance. It wont happen.

It wont work on XboX on minimal settings.

The game is too demanding.

They'll have to release a special client with cut down graphics or something.

Let me tell ya something.

The game client alone takes 26 gigabytes of space atm.

With 1 gigabyte of RAM its unplayable.

On a dual core 6300 with 7600GT video card its unplayabable in any crowded area.

Also you dont want to play this in minimal settings cause it looks very very bad.

If you planning on getting this game and you want to enjoy it you should

have at least 2 giga of RAM, an 8800GT, a dual core 6300+ and a fast hard drive cause it loads ALOT and often.

The gameplay might be well done and that is enough for alot of people.. but I wouldnt play it cause I dont like the artwork, the graphics, and the character models. Its just ugly stuff to my eye.

1. Starcraft MMO (it should have decent spaceship action included).

2. A new star wars MMO (same as for 1.).

3. Baldurs gate or a different D&D mmo.

Its kinda like Guild Wars.

You cant actually roam free around everywhere.

None.

dont join the bandwagon on these overhyped games.

Aion, TCoS, Jumpgate EVO are better games depending on what does it for you.

Take abit of your time and do some research on those, you might be surprised.

Dont throw away money on pre-orders at least until you get in open-beta or some kind of trial/demo/buddy key program.

Be smart and dont make the rich ones richer based on hype and publicity.

One mmo that was released perfect? Without bugs, not fully balanced and as we all know mmorpg's are never finished. Name one? Are you new to the genre?

If it does.. they will release an unfinished, unbalanced, buggy  product  cause they still have ALOT of work and it wont be done till 20th of may.

I dont think they want the next Vanguard on their hands and they will push it back.

Unless they have money issues they wont be forced with an early and crappy release.

we think best graphics based on the MANY screenshots/videos/dev presentations we've seen

mature rating = mature community, more so than the "whre do i mine for t3h fish" communities that ive seen in other mmo's

i do heart me some war lore though ill just have to see how it goes

okok the decapitation isnt for you to watch, its for the removing of  a head, and in pvp thats anything but useless.

i'll say not best graphics cause sure the world looks nice but characters, mounts, buildings and weapons look crap. theres tons of work still need to be done. and im sure of that cause i had beta access since start.

sure its not finished yet, actually far from it but since you  judge this from what we know so far..

mature rating doesnt mean 100% mature community. and if they manage to release it to the console market too... there goes your community..

but there is still hope this wont happen since the game isnt playable on minimum requirements they say the game needs and current consoles are far back from the minium requirements.

and yes the decapitation animation is useless. sure its a nice animation to see a few times but then..

also decapitation seems stupid.. like you get decapited and you need to be resurrected to respawn back in the game and someone will always be there.. using some MAGIC GLUE to put our head back.

Yes it will run but you will be low on performance.

Basicly your computer is fine only thing keeping you down will be: 256MB Ge Force 7300 Graphics card.

The engine seems decent, graphics dont actually suck, its all up to the user making the game of course.

Seems pretty easy to use. With a few people that know what they are doing its doable.

Isnt out there enough conflict over religous belief in real life?

Why would we want this in games too? Dont think we need to promote that in games.. theres enough violence..
