At level 35 I had all the skills that interested me.  I had already done a "respec" mission.   I had almost 4 million influence and all the SO's that I required.    I realized I had nothing more to play for.   My friend  made 35 around the same time I did and came to the same conclusion.   Had alot of fun with this game, but without anything to spend your influence on besides some "cool effects" and a few new costumes, there just wasn't any motivation to continue.

My friend and I both agree'd that maybe they could offer some "uber" enhancements that cost say.. 1 million each..or more, that would justify not giving your influence to noobs.

One day I logged on, called out to the zone "giving away 99,999 influence to anyone who opens a trade window with me".   I was in Steel Canyon where that amount still meant something... I looked like I was feeding pigeons.   A large crowd collected around me.  I should have snagged a screen shot.    Eventually I ran out of influence and logged off.  It was like leaving a girlfriend you loved but just couldn't be with anymore.

Someday a game like City of Heroes will come out with all the fun, and enough content to keep you interested.   I am currently playing EQ2, and I haven't a clue whats going on.   I mine, gather, chop wood..kill.   I get butterflies, tin clusters, canine saliva, parsley and coffee beans.   I would save all this crap until I learn what to do with it but with only 8 slots in my bank and no ability to store loot in my "apartment" I am forced to delete most of it as I go.

I miss Ultima Online.

Black Dragon:

You are just going to have to accept the fact that some people won't like your beloved game.

I have played Ultima Online, Anarchy Online, Eve, Horizons, Asheron's call 2, Earth and Beyond, Lineage II and City of Hero's.

I am tired of killing rats.   Simple as that.

If Eq2 had been the first mmorpg that I had played, I am sure I would be smitten.   But it has a "samey" feel to it.   I fear I am bored with the whole genre.

You have permission to like the game Black Dragon.   Feel free to explain to everyone why you like it.   Just don't try to explain to everyone why I don't.

I am in the "disapointed" camp myself.    I don't find the game very intuitive.   I found the lvl 10 Quest maddening.   I spent 3 hours looking for the gaurd "at the southern most gate on the eastern side" of Antonica, dieing twice.   I didn't enjoy the quest, I did it as a chore.

I gather, mine, trap and all the stuff I get I have no idea if I should destroy it or take up precious slots in my bank (much has no value).   If I could place them in my house, I would just collect it (as you could in Ultima Online).   I have read the manual but still feel in the dark on many things.   I shout out questions and get yelled at for shouting.

I feel the detail oriented will love this game, and it is a noble effort.  I am very impressed with the graphics and smooth launch.     I will most likely give WOW a try, with lowered expectations, but I think the genre in general is getting pretty stale.

My favorite mobs are the clearwater trout that can attack on land.

I love the red dot on the map showing where I am.   An arrow pointing in the direction that I am going would probably have strained the graphic engine too much.

I pre-ordered my game from Sony... I still haven't gotten that copy yet.   Was shipped thursday.  I went ahead and bought one at the store in town the day it came out.   Pre-ordering was A BIG mistake.   I'll just return the one I get in the mail unopen w/ my reciept, but its still annoying to think that I pre-ordered a game only to get it over a week after its release.

The game is beautiful.  I am very impressed with the graphics.   I think I have just come to the conclusion that I am bored with the Genre.

I can't believe I am killing rats again.

Time for a new hobby.

My god.    I can't believe this game is still alive and kicking.   How on earth can it stand a chance?   How long has it been in developement now?    I remember reading about his game and viewing screen shots waaay back in '01.   We are on the verge of '05 people.   Let go.   Its over.

I have yet to experience any lag.  None.  Zero.  Nadda, Zilch.

I bet your lag problems are actually slow comp issues, probably accessing your hard drive because you are OUT OF RAM.

Well I am not a casual gamer, nor am I a comic book geek.

I wasn't suggesting people buy this game to hold them over until another game came out, I said thats what I did.

I have had more unadultered "fun" playing this game than any of the mmorpg's I have played.

character creation is supurb.  You can really develope an indenty.   It is alot more casual in in depth and complexity, but I don't mind that.   I also don't feel the over whelming pressure to lvl that I get in other games.   Socializing, and making new characters are a big part of the fun.

But the action...oh my the action.   Pants soiling carnaqe.  I have spontaneously burst into giddy laughter as the fun and excitement took me to levels i have never been from (at least not from a video game).

Having quit Lineage II with a lvl 37 character a month ago and not being able to wait for wow or eq2, I thought I would pick this up to fill the gap.   I predict I will keep this subscription for a very long time, even if I go with a more traditional mmorpg.   I think it will be a perfect compliment to a wow or a eq2.   The missions are fun and City of Villains is comming as well.

Don't let the corney 5-10 minute tutorial discourage you.   Get it...get in the game... level up a couple times then start grouping.    MAKE a cra p load of characters!  8 per server... 12 or so servers!    Have fun!

I originally rated this game poorly.   I didn't realize how fun it is.   As soon as I get my rank up on this site I will edit my review.   I have played Ultima Online, Anarchy Online, Eve, Horizons, Asheron's Call 2 and Lineage II.     For just pants wetting fun and hilarity...this one takes the prize completely.   Grouping is easy...The game is polished as heck...and hilarous.   So many funny things...and so many funny people.   This is the first game I didn't feel compelled to level obsessively.    Instead I have created many varied Characters and play them as I wish.      Key to this game is not to judge it by the 5 to 10 minute tutorial you have to get your character through.   And find TEAMS...  its fun as heck.   I was mostly a solo player and I admit it sucked.   You can help others w/ thier missions and its pure carnage.    Don't listen to poster of this Thread.   He is obviously in the minority considering the games rating and popularity.

pfft... I don't look at porn to feel better about myself.   I look at porn because I enjoy spending quiet moments alone with my bottle of lubriderm.   Has nothing to do with "feeling better about ones self" just feeling... better.   Get off your moral high ground we all know you have a dozen sears catalogues under your mattress with all the women's underwear pages stuck together.

I got excited about Atriarch several  years ago.   I can't believe its not out yet.    Guess what...

I'm not excited anymore.

My prediction:  cancellation before release.

Okay... remove the hassles and bugs and laggy servers blah blah blah... we all know that will be fixed eventually.   What I want to know is... for anyone who was actually able to experience gameplay...

Was it fun?

I just want to know.     I haven't played an mmorpg since I quit EVE last august.   I feel like cornflakes without the milk... Ying without my Yang... Captain without Teniel.

I lost interest in Earth and Beyond after about 8 weeks.   It took me about 4 months to quit EVE.

I'm not sure I would even put the two in the same class.   Eve has much more depth.
