There have been no major changes.  The game still plays the same as it did two years ago. The Burning Crusade added new lands, new dungeons, new races, and a new tradeskill. It's all more of the same, so if you liked it two years ago, chances are you'll still like it.  If the community is the only thing that bothers you, get into a good guild, make liberal use of the /ignore function, and don't hang out in the cities too long.

I quit when I reached level 60, resubbed after The Burning Crusade was released, and quit again after reaching level 70. I'm 99.9% sure that I'll resub again when Wrath of the Lich King is released.

I dunno... I think the game feels a lot different since TBC - for the worse. I got the expansion late, and levelling from 60-70 was really boring except for the times when I'd go into a new area and go "oooh, that's purdy!", other than that I felt like I was on an empty server while levelling.

I also don't like all this resilience, I really don't see why they did that. If there was a Pre-TBC server, I'd re-roll on that server! I miss all the world PvP - the Outlands, and flying mounts pretty much killed it.

Where did you hear that WoW's next expansion will be Sept' 08? Last I heard it was May (well, by "heard" I mean I saw the pre-order date as May)

Anyhoo, I think it could affect Warhammer if Blizzards new expansion is released at the same time. As Tyfreaky said, lots of people have already invested time and effort into their Characters in WoW, and the promise of siege weapons and destructible buildings has the PvP'ers peeking over the wall, waiting to see if it's any good.

Having said that, WoW must be getting stale, so perhaps by next year people will want to try a new game rather than invest in the expansion.

For me personally, I ask myself which I'd prefer: New WoW content that's well overdue, and is potentially going to be a failure given Blizzards record of adding new "PvP" content, but with an already progressed character? Or play a new game, starting from scratch, which has been created by a team with a great record for PvP content?

Well, my favourite part of WoW was levelling, being new and taking everything in for the first time. So I think Warhammer will be my choice.

Not had this problem myself, so I'm not sure if this'll help, but have a look at http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=119 <- that page.

If you're behind a firewall take a look at Number 6. :)

Am I the only person in the world still only using 1280x1024?

Damn, I still remember the days when I thought 800x600 was a crazy small res! (or is that big? whatever ;P)

Sorry, but that's absolutely nonsense. You can't play WoW and expect them to change it to the type of game you're mentioning - your argument makes no sense!

What you're saying is like ordering a cup of Tea, then complaining that Tea should be different, like made from beans that are grounded up and then brewed - that's Coffee! You want to drink Coffee? Go drink it! What you're describing is a completely new game... "Mages should heal"... pfft.

Most  Amarr ships use no ammo instead they use crystals to modulate energy into damage.
Lots of damage to start with prob more than any other race.

Check out Akita T's post on eve-o forums for a holistic view on your starting options here

Nice first post.

EVE will be a difficult game to get into if you start playing it, and expect to be able to compete right away. If you play the game to learn what you can do, rather than expect it to happen the day you play then you'll enjoy it.

That's not everyone's thing, some people have no patience and are not willing to learn what EVE can offer. It takes time to learn the game, despite what some people might say it's not all about click F1, F2, F2 etc... you have to learn how to set up your ship and learn what those modules and guns do, for and against other ships.

There is a 14 Day Free Trial out there, but I think you need longer than that to experience what the game can offer. Like I said though, it can be difficult to get into, it took my friends a second try to get into the game (they all regretted not playing the first time too, as they could have had a few more skill points ;)) and now they won't try anything else.

Go to hell elitist, he gave some perfectly fine points without resorting to lulz this game suxorz, there are other EVE Online players I've met that want a similar if not same thing, the game is incredibly slow paced compared to most other MMORPGs.

What he said is nothing more than a boring rant from a frustrated, clueless new player. I say this because he says:

"Well now supose you stick at it and grind enough cash to have that nice ship. You get to do one PvP encounter with it, just one. Then it gets destroyed and you lose months of mining."

Yet he's still on the 14 Day Trial? He obviously has no clue how to make money, and rightly so because he's a noob, but he has no right to lie about something he's never experienced.

He went far off the subject of a new player...  "You control areas of space by camping the gates and killing ships that pass though. So thats your gameplay. Sitting doing nothing for hours on end hoping for some action. The action of course is few and far between. Nobody wants to risk thier ships." again, more bullshit from someone basing their opinions on what they've obviously read elsewhere, because there's no way he's experienced any of that!

But if you cut the bottom half out, then he has some kind of point.

Exactly as the guys above said, 1v1 is more about what type of BS and what setup they have on that. Generally, you'd setup as one role, as opposed to thinking about countering everything - it's not possible.

I always like to tank, and if that's your thing then you'd need to train up armor/shield hardeners (depends on your ship), and skills that help your Cap... Sorry, couldn't say how long it'd take, but there's a program in the sticky that can calculate it for you, with your skills.

The missions are just as fun as the matrix online running up and down elevators, same shit ever time. Getto. The space ships look lame too.
{Mod Edit}

What!? They created a game to make money!? No way...

Seriously, if you're going to that tinfoil-hat about it, why not train a 30 day skill and cancel your account? It'll still carry on training.

(btw, there are no sand witches in the game... there's not even any sand!)

The combat system and animations - they've got it almost perfect. The game feels really smooth to play, as opposed to most other MMOG's that seem not to sync properly with animations and combat.

Content is amazing the first time you play WoW, you love the new NPCs to kill, the new zones to enter and the professions are nice too.

Sorry if this has already been said, but have you tried the official forums? There's a good thread of ship setups (http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=571635) which might be useful to you.

There's also probably lots of other threads about Gallente in that section too.

As Taram said, there are roleplayers in EVE... there's lots of different types of players! I think players who are mercenaries are roleplayers (imo), which is just one of the many roles you can play (make something up yourself!).

There's a free trial out there which you can try for 14 days, and no credit card is required (always a bonus in my books).

Otherwise, I think RF Online is now free to play... not played it myself, but I'm sure it's more of a fantasy game.
