MORE DRAMA FOR YA MOMMA!

Did that GM just tell everyone that they have people from Ebaumsworld as GM's? Seriously, if that's the case, then I'm not surprised that their GM's act like retarded fish monkeys.

What do you get from it? The pleasure of ganking someone that is still suffering rez sickness? What skill is in that??

You try to justify you existance by saying it's a PVP server...if they dont like it go to a PvE server. Aye...it is a PvP server but that doesnt justify ganking...actually I pitty people like gankers that have nothing better to do than to grief people. ..it's sad really O.o

I used to admin a BF1942/DC/FH server. We had full FFA with Friendly fire turned off (you could kill your own mates). We used to have people like this come onto the and spawn camp, team kill and just grief in general. They would recieve 1 warning, if they continued they were banned.

NO, In case you're wondering...we always had a full server and our clan competed in the Forgoten Hope challenges.

There is a difference between the realism of FFA PvP and someone that just ganks because they can.

DC was the best game ever!

With 1942/DC there are different servers with different rules, much like AoC where you choose what server you want, PvP or PvE. Complaining you're getting ganked on a PvP server is like complaining you're getting spawn killed on a DC server where their rules clearly state that spawn killing is allowed.

Unless there are rules that clearly state that spawn camping isn't allowed in AoC, then that GM should have no right banning (or threatening to ban) people. Yes, it's pathetic to gank a lowbie over and over, but the player has the choice of what server they choose. It's like complaining that your Cheesecake has cheese in it.

That GM acted like a kid with power (like a CSS admin ;)), how does one "take the game too far"? That makes no sense! Regardless of what you think of camping, this GM doesn't deserve the job he's got as it sounds like he hasn't got a clue about the rules... and not to mention he failed to tell the other players about any kind of rules, again, "taking the game too far" doesn't explain anything.

Ah, so if you die in the game, your character gets deleted and you're not able to play again? Real life comparisons don't work in gaming, especially when you try to use it as an excuse for slow game mechanics. (not that I know if WAR is actually slow or not... I'm just saying. ;P)

If you can't grasp simple aspects of a computer game (controls), then you should stick to the tabletop game... that would suit you better.

I find it ironic that you would say these things, since that's exactly what MMOs were supposed to emulate. They wanted a way to give people the tabletop experience without all the hassle of setting up and designing a dungeon. MMOs, especially the RPG variety, were never supposed to be about player skill, it was primarily a thinking game.

Yea, 10 years ago before MMO's became popular. Now MMO's are being played by millions of people and is probably the biggest genre atm, more and more people are trying them out. Sadly for you tabletop types, these gamers don't want AI to do things for them and developers realise this.

Seriously, holding right-click isn't hard to do.

DAoC had and still has the best PvP of any MMO to date.  When you faced your opponent it really was a fight to the death as it should be.  Win or lose you remembered the good fights and for the most part respected a tough opponant.  /face & /stick were essential parts of that system and to remove them would be crazy.  An MMORPG should be about the skill of the character, not the skill of the player other than the skill that goes into building the toon.  If you want player skill then RPG's are not your thing and there are plenty FPS games out there that would suit you better.

DAoC has awesome PvP because it actually has PvP content, instead of boring modes such as CTF (like WoW). Conquering castles is what I want to do, and I want to actually do it myself rather than let AI hold my hand.

Whatever. I'm playing GTA4 'til WAR comes out!

...Oh, can people please stop posting about how well (or not so well) the game will run if you know absolutely nothing and are just getting these ideas randomly from your head. No one knows how well the game will run yet, not even those in closed beta, there's lots of work to be done yet lot's of things to be added, tweaked, etc... so please, stfu. ;)

That was gate camping. I don't really see it as PvP, just defending territory. There are also fleet battles, which I don't really like myself (200+ ships vs 200+ other team ships! YEAH!). But seriously, if you like that, then props to you, I couldn't find myself to like fleet battles.

My personal favorites, are pirate encounters, or tournaments. For the pirate part, me and a group of friends go around (usually 3-8 of us in all), and look for pirates in 0.4-0.1. And then we kill em. Well, the jackasses at least. And the tournaments usually are corp/alliance dependent. I like doing all t1 (That's right, no t2, no faction stuff) frigates or cruiser tournaments. Maybe a bc once in a while. Oop, forgot to say, most of the tournaments I go to are usually FFA, 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4 fights.

That is my idea of pvp in eve, and like that part. Others will probably say otherwise.

Same here! Though I've never thought about doing some kind of tournament, good idea.

I also like to jump into 0.0 with some friends, normally around places that have low secs. leading to 0.0... always pirates around to kill.

EA Games and Mythic Entertainment have just signed an agreement with Sara Lee to form a new corporation called  Massively Multiplayer Pies, Inc., in order to begin production of a new line of mini-pies designed to be held easily with one hand and eaten while playing online games.

The mini-pies will be about 4 inches in diameter (10 centimeters) and will come in individual plastic wrappers.

Production will start with the following flavors:

~ Green Griefing Apple

~ Luscious Leet Lemon

~ Pwnz Joo Pineapple

~ Nutty Noob Chocolate

LOL! MmmMmMMMMmm Nutty Noob Chocolate!

Since Spirit got the ball rolling, let's create some gaming-branded Pie!

Dear lord, do not let EA/Mythic EVER EVER EVER do that with Warhammer.

Why wouldn't you want this in WAR? Many games have these kind of tournaments and they sound bloody fun!

That's pretty amazing, what you guys explain about DAOC, so OK let's imagine they do something similar or better.

But still.. was it really fun, in that 2 hour battle, to die and respawn and run to the front over and over again? Maybe it is for a few battles and specially if you win, but I don't see it being too good in the long run.

And why do you say nobody complained about not having a penalty if you had to run for 10 to 20 minutes, as has been said in this thread before? Running for 15 minutes is quite a penalty, so it's only normal they didn't complain about a lack of it.

I see where you're coming from, but sadly this is just how gaming in general is no matter what game you're playing. I suppose, being a FPS gamer, I'm used to dying and respawning over and over again. But having said that, I could even go back as far as Mario (well I could go further back! :)) and say I was used to dying and restarting the level over and over again until I beat it, then you'd move on to the next area.

Every game -MMO or otherwise- will have some repetitive value, but since you're comparing this to WoW then you'll understand that Blizzard try to combat this by simply adding extra tiers - that is a huge mistake to make, imo. Even in their expansions they only offer better stats at a higher level rather than adding something that allows players to do something that has an impact on the whole game. As you know, you'll kill some PvE boss and it'll be some dramatic storyline that may sound great, but you walk outside and nothing has actually changed.

in WAR things will change, you will have an impact on the world when you take over cities, and this for me is where the game sounds interesting. You'll have a sense of achieving something because you and your realm has just wasted an entire city/town, which is now yours. You don't come out of the instance to see everything back to normal, you'll actually have something different - and this is just one part of the game.

Mythic are trying to come up with ideas to stop things going stale, and they seem to be going about it the right way.
