Fade to Darkness is now recruiting, we are a Guardian PvE/PvP/RP guild.
 

Fade to Darkness has played and been successful in games such as Vangaurd, EQ, WoW, AoC and many more, see guild website for full list. We slowly fell apart because of Co-leader and officers leaving the guild but we are now back and are ready to be stronger than ever.

Our goal is to strife to be known for both PvE and PvP achievements.

I agree with everyone tat the whole WoW Killer thing is hype and never lives up. In reality, MMOs are never really "killed" by another game, but rather killed by themselves. How many games have you played and loved only to be disenchanted once Generic Expansion Seven was released and turned your virtual world upside down? That's when players move on to the next big game. With that said though, I don't think it'll be Rift necessarily that'll kill any game, but perhaps this new era of games will run out the old era. Rift, Guild Wars 2, The Old Republic are all taking different paths from the generic quest system. I myself -hate- questing. It's a means to an end, anti-social, solo "play" - I use the term play loosely, because it feels more like a chore to me. I look forward to this new wave of games that are going to step away from that more and introduce what, to me, looks like more fun.

So I don't think millions will abandon WoW for Rift, but I do think reasons that AoC, WAR, and Aion didn't do so well is because they follow very closely to the WoW model. People are ready for something new, and unlike the previous new games, this next generation looks like they're actually trying new things.

That's my 2 cents.

read the thread before you post no one said anything about WoW killer really, it was just what the article was called.

what are you talking about the guy above you showed you that there is real HD gaming

ive tried Chroms, Explorer, Firefox and it just re-directs me to log in again after i log in, ive emailed them about it and they havent said anything back and i have tried to make a new account but it does the same thing, ive deleted my cookies and anything else i could think of.

nothing i try is working, it blows.

well im not having problems with it remembering me im having problems with after logging in it says im no longer logged in

This article was written in June of last year, and by scifi wire, not a MMORPG site. That alone should ring bells. The other bells rung were that the article's author only compared the game to WoW. That is sad. If I were to compare Rift to any game it would be FFXI. It looks similar graphically and the idea of one character all classes/subclasses is FFXIish as well.

Mind you I think that's a good thing. I love FFXI and wish more games were like it.

graphically it does not campare to FFXI, very few people have seen this game in its true graphical state, in all the new interviews people say "the screen shots do not even come close to giving the graphics in the game justice".

okay we will see when we get to run it on a PC with an HD monitor and good HD video card compared to not having it.

shows right here eight race spots and said in another interview that there would be eight.

well i dont think everyone with a pc has had an HD video card and an HD montior, so dont say its been a standard for years.

but i found an article where they Trion gave a guestiment on what the min reqs will be.

So how do you think this game in HD will effect its players other than giving them great visuals?

Do you think it will make people shy away from the game becasue they think there computer cant handle it or do you think more people with try to beef up to play it and/or just run it on the systems they already have.

Personally i have been out of the MMO realm for a little bit so im buying a whole new rig to run PoT

is anyone having the same problem on the main telara forum, i registered and confirmed and i have been trying for over a week but everytime i go to post it says im not signed in and then ill sign in again and nothing works, its really starting to make me mad.
