Did you guys run out of Dupes, bugs and broken quests to argue about? So now it's time to argue about downtime scheduled or not?

If you been playing MMOs for many years...we all know servers go down, most times planned, sometimes for an emergency fix. This isn't the first MMO to do this...and doubfully will be the last. It's with it instead of raging about them calling it a scheduled maintenance even tho it isn't. Think they got plenty of other issues to deal with than to worry about their proper wording for a downtime.

Im really sick of seeing these videos.  I know all i need to, let me in!  :)

Agreed. They have gone from not a single word about this game to bombarding us with videos about everything. Now it's almost too much info and still not giving us any solid release date.

Obviously it is not as hardcore as EQ1. There are no corpse runs, leveling is not AS difficult, there is no xp loss on dying, and it is much more solo friendly. That being said, I think ESO is a great balance between what made EQ such a special game, and the modern expectation of what people want in an MMO.

So basically you are saying....take out everything  that made EQ special and exciting to play and you got ESO? What's next...claiming Hello Kitty Online is the spiritual successor to SWG?

I typically stick to PC gaming. Have alot of single player games on the go right now which should keep me busy  till the next round of MMOs.

Lookin forward to Archage, Black Desert n Shroud of the Avatar for next winter.

I can't remember the last time I was required to sub before my free game time ran out. Actually, now that I think about it, it may have been daoc. They stopped doing it years ago though, that is when they still sold boxes.
That is what I was thinking too. I don't recall any MMO I have played which I needed to make up the Sub plan before the 30 days are up. Typically it has been 30 days are almost up, subscribe now option or wait till the time is up.

I guess they just want to be sure to get as much money as they can after the 30 days is up. So those who decide not to sub will probibly  will be charged for the next month because they didn't give two weeks notice before the charge. Since most games need a few days notice before cancelling payments.

so you have never played EQ, EQ2, wow, SWTOR, and every other sub based mmo out there that used this same exact practice?

Yes I have played every single one of those games. And Ultima Online, Final Fantasy, Anarchy Online, Vanguard, SWG, Matrix and most other popular Sub based MMOs. And I didn't put billing info untill or just before the  trials were up.

Haven't played AA yet. Like most, I'm going to wait till it come to NA. I know I'll definately be giving it a go. PvE, PvP, crafting, housing and everything else and MMO should have.

Have played ESO beta. And my opinion is that it is just another cookie cutter MMO. Nothing really interesting there for me. Bored the whole level up just to improve gear and no other goals to work for. I like a bit more reason to play an MMO other than just to be able to tweek my armor so I can stand around lookin all spiffy.

Daja Vu anyone? Think I have been reading this same thread every year for like the past 15 years. So really can't see it happening anytime soon. the 80's, by now we were also supposed to be done away with gas powered cars and have all flying cars and floating devices...and be living on the moon and mars. Still not seen any of that  happening.

Your both projecting your personal dislike for the game to equate poor reception.  If I could do that McDonalds would have gone out of business a decade ago.

Quoted from the Wiki

"During the first day of release, Steam showed over 230,000 people playing Skyrim concurrently.[114] In the first week of release, Bethesda stated that 7 million copies of the game had been shipped to retailers worldwide, and that total sales through the following Wednesday were expected to generate an estimated US$450 million.[115][116] By December 16, 2011, this had risen to 10 million copies shipped to retail and around US$620 million.[117] Additionally, Valve stated that it was the fastest selling game to date on their Steam platform.[117] Steam's statistics page showed the client breaking a five million user record by having 5,012,468 users logged in January 2, 2012. During this time, Skyrim was the most-played game on Steam by a huge margin, with double the number of players as Team Fortress 2, the second-placed game.[118] In the United Kingdom, Skyrim was the 9th best selling title of 2012.[119] In June 2013, Bethesda announced that over 20 million copies of the game had been sold;[120] of those sales, 59% were for the Xbox 360, 27% for the PS3, and 14% for the PC.[121]"

Still want to stand by your 600K projection on sales?  I won't even guess at player retention at this point but 5-7 million in box/digital sales between PC and Console is easy to see for a Elder Scrolls Title.

Really you can't compare Skyrim and ESO. They are two entirely different games.

It's like comparing SWG pre NGE to SWtoR. They are based in the Star wars galaxy, but that is as far as the similarities go.

Pffft, the cost of the games is nothing compared to the amount of money I've spent on "gaming" PC's, laptops and upgrades to the same.

Very true. Been gaming since UO in '97. And have pretty much bought into every AAA release up till GW2. I wouldn't just count thegames and subs. But to think of the 6 gaming rigs I have bought since then. Updated graphics cards and such. The games have costed a fair amount, but the PCs to play the games has been wayyyy more.

I don't get the point of this thread at all. So the OP is complaining that people can pay with in game currency for their monthly sub. So they are still paying a sub one way or the other. Whether it be RL cash or in game is still going to cost them.

And feeling obligated to play more because you pay? Seriously? 15/month is too steep. That is like 50cents a day! Most people spend more than that on their morning cup of coffee. Or a snack at work or school.

I am not going to be playing this game. But I do support Sub based MMOs. I wish more were purely sub based. Not this sub plus cash shop like certain other upcomming releases.

I'd say this is just another 'I want my game to be free to play.' And if it were F2P it would be a post about Cash shop costing too much.  Pay the dam sub one way or the other and stop cryin about it. Or go play one of the other hundreds of poorly made F2P MMOs out there.

Mounts are just the first step. Next will be the race they they only included in CE. Followed by other small items such as experience boosts, special armors, special mounts and pets, and items for double loot n such. All these items will be available in game of course. But at an outrageous gold price that it will be much easier for people just to toss an extra couple bucks on their CC.

I can see where people are getting upset.  Already with a monthly sub, EVERYTHING in game should be included and accesible by ALL players at the same rate. Already they have decided to take out one race and only give to the ones who are willing to shell out the cash. Now they are gearing up for a cash shop for people to shell out more cash. On top of the box price and monthly sub. And they already know, after selling off the CE as they did, people will still throw them more cash.

There are people who will spend the money, not see it as a big deal. And that is fine. Being on the fence already after seeing the CE joke. Now seeing a cash shop already being put in place. Pretty much counts me out of bothering to invest money in it.

The game is total piece of crap. Sorry but it is, tons of bugs, collision issues, and the graphics are dated.

There are some cool features granted, but its still a cheaply made korean grind game wrapped in a pretty wrapper.

Maybe the reason trion is taking so long is because they are trying to fix some of those issues.

To be fair I am playing it at least until ESO release, so I guess its at least playable at least.

Yes...and ESO has such amazing graphics? It has no bugs or other issues?  ESO is an overpriced overhyped game in an ugly wrapper. So I might play ESO till AA comes out.

"You’ll be able to find Evan and Eric posting on the official forums, chatting via socials, and previewing upcoming game content in videos. Feel free to call them by their first names or forum handles, and be sure to let them know about the best ArcheAge livestreams, cool player-made content, and what you want to see next in the game."

What we would want to see next in the game? I think I would like to see the actual GAME before what I would like to see next in the game. And what...we should let them know that every other country in the world is playing, live streaming and puttin out player made content while they sit on this game?

Internet+Anonymous posting/chatting= Asshatery reguardless of age.

People of all age can act like idiots if nobody knows who they are...and many do.

Should really have a 'None of the above' option in there.

Wildstar devs after seeing WOW's graphics update:

Is that because wildstar devs know that an over ten year old game looks slightly less childish and slightly better  than their new game?

Saying there is no grinding in ESO is a joke. There is just as much ginding in ESO as WoW, Tera, or SWTOR or any other mainstream MMORPG.  It may be differently done, as many have stated...alot more running around and alot more talking to NPCs. But it is still a  grind.

Grind is part of the genre, why would the OP even make such a silly claim is either a complete Fanboy or has not played the game.

rps = nail on head this time.

Not a very truthful review and very biased, the guy hates Raiding and PVP. That automatically takes out about 50% of any decent MMO. The guy needs to quit his day job of being a journalist or learn to review properly.  He isn't cut out to review games maybe he should try another product like Kleenex or something first.

How much raiding and PvP is in the first seven levels? So even if he dislikes that aspect of the game, it still is completely irrelevant to the review. His review was on the beginning of the game. Which is a tell tale sign of how much of the game will carry along untill you get to the PvP and raiding endgame.

Was considering pre-ordering it. After seeing  the pre-order to get a race bit...which I feel is a money grab. And playing two weekends of beta. I decided to pass on it.  When it comes down to it....this one offers nothing really different from any other current F2P or P2P mmo out there already. Just the ESO's not Skyrim by any means.
