Yah, I've recently looked back at the development of this title as well. Seems as the project has just been stagnant. |

Originally posted by Moodah I started Everquest at age 12. I can now type at an avg speed of 93 words per second which I credit due to my ingame experiences at a young age. I also learned many words and expanded my vocabulary due to the vast array of item names and spell/ability titles. I learned words like apprehensively, indifferent, dubious, bauble, maelstrom, pauldren, etc. So in a way, playing everquest was somewhat an education experience to me. |

If you could skip the leveling would you?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/15/08 6:27:01 AM
100% no. I find leveling from 1 - max is the most enjoyable process of the game. If that was taken out, I would feel as if I had learned or gained nothing along my non-existant journey to the top. This is one of the reasons why Guild Wars could not satisfy my MMORPG urge. |

I would say gameplay is the largest factor, because its the basic building block of EVERYTHING to come. Next comes content, that makes the gameplay "fun". and Third is the graphics, the pretty outter coating that can be waxed and tweaked. Its like a stuffed teddy bear... Gameplay could be the design of the bear's anatomy,(where his arms are placed, proportions of his body parts etc, if its not correct, it wouldn't be successfull as a bear). Next, the content could be its stuffing, that junk that fills the thing up and gives it life. and Third could be the fur/aka graphics, the final touch. One simply cannot work without the other in hand. |

World of Warcraft: Correspondent - A Look at Gear in WoW
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/07/08 5:12:17 PM
First, I want to apologize that I didn't really read the article but am more responding to the Topic Line. Every MMO that has a main focus on "Raiding" will be gear dependent. its a Known fact imho. |

Buffy the Vampire Slayer MMO announced
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/03/08 1:05:22 PM
What perplexes me is the fact that there hasn't been one person thats requested or wanted this...You'd think they'd make an MMO catering to the player's desires. Unless there is some secret underground MMO Forum with 50 threads pleading for a Buffy MMO somewhere on the intarwebs, I can't imagine why this is in production. "either as a fully immersive 3D environment or as a Flash-based 2D game."
So how is that gonna work....uhhh |

Holy Crap! I was actually in that conference room durring the SOE fanfaire! Pavillion 3 if my memory serves me correct! But yah, had no idea there was an mmorpg representative there at the time. I must say though that the 3 dev team members of DC Universe were probably the coolest, most layed back, awesome guys out of all the devs. All the EQ guys were stuck up with no personality, kind of cocky to say the least. EQ1 and EQ2. |

My reflection of EverQuest, hate it or like it.
Hogcaller Inn (General) « Everquest 8/26/08 8:49:35 AM
Wonderful read my man! I started EQ in Jan of 2001 myself could write about the same experiences! The first time someone dragged me away from North Qeynos and guided me to blackburrow, being a human I couldn't see a darn thing in the dark. Or being a wizard up until level 5 not knowing how to scribe a single spell, and having a fellow wizard purchase me ice frost to get me on my feet was so cool. The game was amazing because of the people there and the sense of adventure. Games nowadays have people right and left, all doing their own thing and not wanting to give you the light of day. I wish for another game where everything may be foreign like it used to and where the developers will not hold your hand. The only problem with that is that it would not appeal to the mainstream, which would mean it would receive not enough revenue and would be pointless for them to make. |

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes: Correspondent - Examining Vanguard PvP
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/26/08 8:36:04 AM
Thanks for taking the time to write about your experiences. I had no idea vanguard neglected the pvp aspect to that extent. Wow, this really "is" like looking at EQ's long lost brother as EQ1 was never designed as a pvp game either. But with that said, I do like the idea of how pvp can deter one from harming their reputation and the fact that there are no level restrictions. I personally like no level restrictions when it comes to pvp, that is if you have a mature playerbase. Frankly, if you had some max level killing lowbies, you'd hope there'd be other max level players that'd stick up for them and kick the guys arse, but anyway, good read! |
