i love a good trailer, and will play it a bunch of times, it's nice to get excited about a game, however, i've never played a morg that lived up to its trailer

[Media] Neverwinter: Blackdagger Ruins & Vellosk Exclusive Screens
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/05/13 9:24:30 PM
I have been following the game in the periphery for a while as I am an old school dnd guy, but it does not look to good to me. I'm not completely writing it off, if I do give it a shot its just because of my nostalgia for dungeons and dragons. I also tried dnd online when it came out and that game sucked, waited for that game for like a year :(

[Column] General: Do Graphics Matter?
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/22/12 5:13:38 PM
when I first looked at wow I was like no way I could ever play that the graphics suck! but when I gave it a shot I was hooked due to the depth of the game. I played never winter nights II because I wanted to try a rpg and it was rated so highly on the internet, at the time I played it, it was several years old and seemed like something my 8 year old would be playing but that game was excellent despite very dated graphics. It was so immersive that after a very short time I didn't even notice the visual deficiencies. So the long and short of it is that the good game play is what matters, visuals really are the icing on the cake. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Game Update 1.2 – Legacy Preview
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/13/12 9:41:40 PM
I am not a hater and do enjoy playing the game. I started playing with my son but as of a week and a half ago, he has bailed on the game and is bored, even after rolling tons of alts. That being said the update doesn't impress me, I'll still play but will probably need the game to step up to maintain my subscription even semi long term. Someone mentioned early on that if this morg was not star wars that no one would even be playing it, I've gotta say it that's probably true

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Verdict on the Fourth Pillar
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/30/12 9:14:02 PM
I read through some of the comments from people which were pretty negative. I am playing the game with my son and thoroughly enjoying it. I like the dialogue options and it's great fun to roll against each other to see how it will turn out. For me following the story is one of the strongest parts of the game. I actually wish I could save or replay some of the more epic story related encounters. (Not really interested in watching someone else's toon on youtube) |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Staff Roundtable Review
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/28/11 6:01:18 PM
I have played slowly since early release as I work full time and have a family. My take thus far is it's a good substitute for wow since I had btdt. I'm a star wars fan and have had great fun with the little collectibles I received such as the book, music cd, etc. That stuff really breathes star wars, i feel bad about throwing away the big box with the excellent art work. However the game does mimic this same feeling imo. I just feel like i'm doing a regular morg with better stories and cinematics (a good thing). Not sure how they could make it more star warsy, maybe as my character levels it will change we'll see |

General: The Digital Parent: Raising a Gamer
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/04/11 10:00:53 PM
i felt compelled to talk about one more issue, which is activities other than games. It's really trite to say the kids should go outside more and play tag, climb trees and fences and stuff but they really don't have much value for those things and to create fun on their own. What i do with my 9 y/o is to put him in the cubscouts which he loves. This gets him learning new skills, interacting with other boys and finding other aspects of life he likes rather than just the games. It's also another venue that I can do things with him. Highly recommend it for those of you with elementary school kids 1st to 4th grade. |

General: The Digital Parent: Raising a Gamer
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/04/11 9:42:52 PM
good article, this topic could go on for days. My children play games of course too and I plan to play tor with my 9 y/o, which will require a second account :(. I plan to censor the game in several ways, i.e can only play when I am on, cannot talk to anyone, and I'll closely monitor the companion to keep out any romance non-sense. Other things will come about but I figure as long as i'm playing with him I can regulate the content. Despite all that we are both looking forward to it and my wife is even going to get the kids a new computer to handle the requirements of the game cheers! |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Full Beta Preview
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/25/11 8:14:09 PM
thanks for the article! my son wants me to sign up for the beta but I'm not interested, I don't want to take anything away from the total exploration and fun at launch. With these games the absolute best thing about them is finding your way with other people in the beginning |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: You Got Your Story in My World PVP
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/14/11 3:54:35 PM
hmm, although I suck at pvp, I really enjoy this aspect of a morg. After reading the article and the comments above, I may step outside my comfort zone and role my character in a pvp world. My concern is usually in a morg I pvp after I'm already pretty much an expert at the game. We'll see btw for the few doubters above, give it a chance, stay excited, if you look to find crap that's what the game will be for you |

Star Wars Galaxies: Farewell to SWG
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 9/26/11 9:44:28 PM
swg pre nge was my first morg and that will always be the gold standard. No other game i've played since has the depth of that and especially the sense of community, the excitement, and bigness of the world, the interactivity of the classes.. just excellent (pre nge) i'm trying to keep my expectations down for tor because its not a sandbox. I played the two mass effect games and found their format enjoyable so i'm hoping to have fun in a different way than swg |

General: Moving On from Your MMO
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 9/09/11 7:25:58 PM
many of your points are well taken for me. Toward the end of the game i'll want to log in just from habit of doing so, but when I get in game, it's like i've seen everything and done everything pretty much. Then I start hitting the pvp pretty heavy. Next is getting into the social aspect guild stuff pretty heavy. But when that dries up and there are no friends coming on I wind up pretty much done. I'll log in, see that no ones on and then pop back out. At that point I go through my withdrawls and stop logging in, then eventually call the customer service people and stop my acct. I always kind of expect the customer service people to at least give me a query why I am stopping play, email questionairre or something. They miss the boat there because there would be a lot to say! After I stop playing a morg i usually switch to a shooter for a while and lately I am playing rpg's (witcher 2) which are pretty cool actually while I wait for old republic to come out. And no I don't see myself going back to wow, btdt ciao |
