gw2 is not a trinity game and thank god its not..

 

i like it the way it is.. does every mmo have to be a trinity to you people? some have it and some dont, there are different types of mmo.

imo, best mmo out right now.. the dynamic stuff is way better the FFARR stupid fates...

 

the platforming is cool, which alot of mmos dont have, fun jumping puzzles... 

 

only thing i dont like is the limited hot bar..... sucks..

just like alot of western games.. horrible animation with the combat.. just like ESO just like conan...

the fates look like crap.. GW2 dynamic events are way better.. not only that this game is so 2 dimensional... you hardly platform anywhere so its basically pure combat nothing else, gw2 have better exploration... 

poeple here make stupid excuses... as if the company is nearly broke and poor.. they have the resources and money to relaunch an entire game.. of course they can do it if they wanted to.. they reason they didn't was time like yoshi stated..

 

and why are you guys making excuses when your paying top dollar for this game... you should expect top dollar standards.. every other game is doing it.  

 

thats like buying a premium sundae and you made excuses for them because they didn't give you the banana that you expect in a sundae.

with other triple A games like wildstar providing amazing fun personalities and voices for the npc and cut scenes.. i dont know how FF can get away with it..

 

i think its really lazy of them and the world is so dead in that game... everything feels bland and not alive..

 

funny people claim "its about the story" whats the point when you have stupid moving mouths and reading text... it sucks, and not expected in modern mmos.. its a standard at this point

I'm sorry.  I think it's wise to make raid content more accessible and to get a larger percentage of people doing raiding, but the way to do it is not to dumb raiding down to where it's not even raiding.  The better solution for WoW was when raids shifted from stupidly large sizes (ahem, like 40) to something guilds could manage and continue easier (like 10, 20 at worst case) and when raids were setup to be large and offer a variety of challenge.  The bigger raids in WOTLK that offered both 10 and 20 (24, wtf-ever it was, it's been a few years) man, normal and hard modes, and which had wings that varied in difficulty (naxx and icc) was when raiding was most certainly at its peak in WoW - guilds of all kinds of variance in ability and size could raid.  Pugging was common but usually only got so far and you still had to have a clue.  You could be casual and low geared and still get some bosses down and feel involved.  Uber guilds could get firsts, do hard modes, and be challenged.  Raiding was common and there was raiding for just about everyone who was interested.  This, IMO, is how raiding should be.

 

One critical mistake I think being made with WildStar is to return to 40 man raiding.  There simply is not and never will be enough people doing raids of that size to justify the amount of development or development efficiency (spending huge amounts of time developing content for an extreme minority is not efficient).  I personally can't stand 40 man - it's too big.  It's too difficult to maintain a guild that can do it.  You have to be too paramilitary to make it work.  Too much redundancy and repetition in roles, no intimacy, too many delays.  It was hard enough to do back in the day of classic WoW when WoW had next to no competition.  With the state of the MMORPG genre and player mentalities these days I think it will be miraculous for 40 man raids and guilds that can field 40 regularly to happen much at all.

 

I also advocate more niche style MMORPGs - like ones that are more old school and feature more grouping, less solo, more challenge, less ez-mode.  Yet I don't think 40-man can ever have enough players to even be niche.  It's even more fringe than that.

A strong raiding setup and progression are things I want to see.  But I want to be able to do it without joining the army.  I'm hardly casual when it comes to raiding but I do like a more intimate setting, raiding with people I know rather than a zerg, and I like for players to have impact and for content to demand all players be important.  You don't really get that in a 40 man where it's more zerg like and where any particular individual other than the raid leader is just an anonymous cog in a big machine.

 

It's kind of like the difference between a rock band and an orchestra.  In a 4/5 piece rock band, if the drummer keels over during a song, you kind of notice that.  There's something significant missing.  It just isn't working any more.  In an orchestra one of the 10 violinists could bail and take a leak in the middle of a song and you'd never notice a difference in the music at all.

In a lot of 10 man raiding losing 1 or 2 people is often a wipe, especially when you're breaking new content or doing hard modes where losing anybody is the difference between success and fail.  In a 40 man, there's so much redundancy and so much more margin for error it's just not the same.  If one of your 30 dps dies, no biggie.  It's nearly as bad with even 24 man, which is why most uber guilds that do progression do 24/20 man vs 10 man - it's easier.

i dont have friiends playing all the time and not enough of them, so LFG function is exactly what every mmo needs

OP needs to do some quick easy research and it would have given him the answer instead of coming here complaining
please add jumping puzzles to this game and im all in! or at least lots of platforming.. mmos are too 2 dimensional..

Im not sure about that.  If you base the game only on voice overs maybe.  I cant recall a single Korean mmo that had even halfway decent story or voice overs.

 

On top of that, the game itself is so much better than even the Korean standard which I think is Aion still.  FF is a much better built game, with a better story, and a better world (though I did love a few of Aions zones...that game lacked atmosphere though)

I would say the exact opposite of your post and substitute voice over quantity with actual game mechanics and atmosphere.  To each their own I guess, some value full voice overs more than the actual game.

I don't get the "game feels dead because no player chat bubbles" thing...that one is strange...very strange.

Japanese arent into mmo's for one thing and they dont have an mmo culture like koreans, this is basically their only good mmo and they studied the crap out of wow and other mmos because the first FF14 sucked.. 

for them to go all out and fix it, they should have done what we consider a standard and put voice acting.. why is it one for the other? look at the voice acting in wildstar.. very alive characters straight out of a movie not mouth moving NPC's.. its like they could have done it and got lazy, this is a high budget game mind you and we expect it.  it so lame to have a cut scene and all you see are moving mouths and then u gotta read...

 

abotu the chat bubble.. its simple, in many mmo's i can walk up and natually say hi, they would look at me, not the spam box and i have to pray they read it or do some dumb whisper thing.. when fighing mobs we can say things and look at the screen and each character fighting and saying things, again not at the chat box.  if you like reading so many text bubbles why the hell are you complainging about actual human chat bubbles?

it seems the telegraph alwyas has the same timing.. about 2 second then the attack goes off.. its so freakin simple and easy...

japanese are still way behind in mmo standards..

korean games are all voiced.. even older ones.. why a triple AAA modern  title skipped out on this is beyond me... i rather the npc just keeps talking like in diablo 3 after i already walked away

 

this game feels dead, no chat bubbles, just a spam box, only npc get chat bubbles, no voices at all.. just really silent and stoic... they really need to make it more alive with voices

lets be honest the game is probably gonna be a pretty ugly game... like most western games

it wont look anywhere as good as black desert or bless.. or even final fantasy

Instances limit the possibility of games because it segragates the community away from each other and detracts from continuity. Instances have no place in this game, and should not be included.

Aside from the sandbox/thempark or open world over instance content (ie I'm not valuing one over the other), the one thing that instances do better than open world is in crafting a specific experience in story-telling, mood and single-group content/immersion (having a contained quest without seeing 50 toons dancing next to you in a dungeon). DDO (I know it has plenty of flaws) has great quests/dungeon runs that couldn't be done as well in an open worl with others running around it trying to do the same things you are. Most of the low level quests are lame but higher up they do a great job with interesting and unique content (unique in it's different than the other quests with story and challenges. One example is the rogue class. On elite level, one trap can wipe the group without rogue finding/disarming traps. In most games a rogue is just mostly dps with some stealth that is only used in combat. The instance challenges makes the class more important and fun, as well as dps combat.

But as to EQN, a good blend of open world and instances could be better than just one or the other, if both are given the proper attention and thought. I don't even know what a sandbox really is, as no one can give a definition that is agreed upon.

agreed! i dont think this guy gets it.. dungeons that are tweakable and perfect for LFG content should be instance.. different difficulty settings etc...

 

you just can't do that in openword.. you can't have set paths everywhere in the open world.. and whats with this new obsession with immersion, its a game get over it, 

 

and stop confusing instance with lobbys, the way FF:ARR does it is perfect and fun as hell.. you can't do that in the open world
