It's amazing, but, who's the Sith guy raging at the control panel? From which storyline are these bits?

Edit: OMG, Sony blocked the last two seconds of that video in my county! /faceslap at that fail

It's the Sith Warrior storyline.

I like how they dodge the player housing question.

Holy crap that was funny xD

The poster on the SWTOR forums is funny...that wasn't an "experiment" that was just him getting a headache and continuing to play the game.

Any game can trigger a headache. Heck, sitting down in front of his computer could have triggered a migraine. There are plenty of bright flashing lights just streaming the internet.

Furthermore, most migraine sufferers will tell you if they feel a migraine coming on there is typically very little they can do (short of something like lying in bed with their eyes closed) that will stop it from getting worse (and even then it typically still gets worse, they are just more prepared by being in a quiet place in the dark). Someone feeling a migraine coming on and thinking "Hm I'll just keep playing a video game" is just asking to suffer.

hehe, and an honest Doctor response kills the legitimacy of the complaint.

SWTOR never did it to me, but I can relate to the complaint.

I have actually gone to the ER over an Everquest  gaming session, started with motion sickness, progressed to a horrible migraine, and ended up with a seizure.

Turned out to be photosensitive occipital lobe epilepsy, and until this incident I had never presented a single symptom.

Since that seizure I get frequent inner eye pain, migraines, and my eye twitches.

So seriously it can happen just saying.

Oh I know it can, in SWG for some odd reason the dark light and constant flashes of Mustafar made me and many others sick and or dizzy, but I'm not realy certain BioWare cares about every sympom someone has and if you took a tylonol. If it's serious, discontinue use and go talk to your doctor. Lets see how they respond to this I guess.

OK WTH? Seriously sometimes people feel the need to share a bit too much...Bioware forums are not your medical doctor btw.

Anyone else have issues? Perhaps a visit to a doctor or neurologist or is advised?

I went looking for this game before I saw this thread, MMORPG.com needs to either update the forum title with "Closed", or remove the dang forum.

I've been ranting on about this game ever since my extensive beta experience. In general, what one experiences in beta is what they experience on the live servers. However, I broke down and decided to give it another try (because of guildmate pressure).

So I installed the game and started playing. Again, the story was pretty entertaining at first. However, after a few days, I couldn't deal with all the useless "run here, run there, come back, run here, deliver this, come back" bullcrap. Most of my playtime seemed to be just running along these boring paths.

My guildies agreed that the questing becomes boring as heck. So they had pretty much leveled up via PvP. Okay. "I'll try that."

So we queue our group for PvP. It's a beatdown. We pillaged just about every Void Star, Huttball, and Alderaan match. However, after about the 20th time, I couldn't take it anymore. Dailes / PvP / Rinse & Repeat - ugh.

I left the group and headed over to the nearest Auction House. It was flooded with players - all wearing the same Battlemaster-whatever gear. They all looked the same. They all had the same few speeders. They all had the same little pets. They all had the same titles.

My goodness. This game is honestly the worst MMO I've ever played. It's not a clone of WoW, though. Even a linear game like WoW has MUCH MORE depth than SWTOR. This game is terrible and should not be considered a MMORPG.

Even my guildies agreed that they would be long gone had it not been mildly entertaining playing with friends.

And why it should be F2P imho. SUre they can add all they want, eventually everyone will look the same agian though.

Your biggest problem with the game is that it's not another totally different game with the same IP.

Sounds like you got sold on the IP alone.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, as a Star Wars fan, at least your getting better SW story an lore out of Bioware than you have out of anything Lucas has crapped out in the past decade.

Basically, at least it's better than the prequels.

Want my advice? Too bad, I'm giving it to you anyways. Get all you the entertainment you can out of the stories that interest you, and decide if you want to move on after that.

Don't regret the sub, $15 dollars is way less than it would cost you to rent or buy all three prequels, an you're going to get better storytelling.

Enjoy it while you've got it at least. Nothing to regret.

umm, beyond story (which IMHO is minor selling point for most people), the IP is the big selling point. I mean if BW had made some random fantasy game with just story, people would have groaned about it even more. Star Wars is what sold this game man.

Best thing in those patches

Hydrosupply leak was one of my favorite stories.

Why must all the armor in this game make one look like they're at a cosplay-fest?

Sometimes when I read things on the internet I find myself saying "who are these people in the outside world?"  Based on some of the replies in this thread I imagine folks I would not want to meet and have an intelligent discussion with.
I hated MMO back in the day. Games like Diablo 1-2 were more my flav with the clicky combat action. I thought the combat in other RPGs and MMOs was slow and boring looking. This was until I found SWG; which back in 2003-2004 hid the combat dice roles and made combat feel cool. SWG had almost everything I was looking for. I was willing to overlook the lack of content even.  I figured it would at least get me by and give me some skills I could take to WoW when it launched; I had no intention on staying in SWG.

Then I tried WoW and was disappointed with the mechanics of RPG combat yet again (Must face Target) I got used to it all, endured the torture of RPG style combat for the sake of gaming with other folks and played many MMOs after the demise of galaxies to find that one that just felt right to play. I even tried the FPS style MMos and they just seemed forced to say the least. Sad to say I have not found that perfect MMO. SWTOR almost had it with the combat, but the lack of freedom is a deal breaker. I'm starting to really think maybe MMOs are just not for me anymore.

Oh and can I say I agree with the OP. Games will get more and more simplistic and developers will get off on not having to put any real creativity  into them or allow player expression knowing that folks will still shell out $15 per month for their games. “hey I can make a game that should be free to play and still charge fools monthly for this, and they pay it willingly oh for the lolols”

Obvious troll is obvious, "Removed" was original post.

well since we need to stay on topic and the topic is "Removed", I say that is a great idea, next time I'll do a *mod edit* and get the crowd really going.

I don't think this proves that subscription-based MMOs are dead, but that devs and publishers will finally realize that you can no longer release a sub-based game an expect a huge number of subscribers. New sub-based games will become a niche and will do well in holding a 1 million of less subscribers, but the days of dreaming WoW sub numbers are dead.

at least looking to get  those numbers when you only launch your game in EU and N/A

Well op left his idea of a reason in another thread but MMORPG.com deleted it, but funny thing is my browser still has it cached. Not sure what to say tbh

dude, you can't make a thread like this and then remove the post. It's like giving away a free hamburger and then pulling out the meat and saying "sike" I'm no fan of meatless hamburgers, bring the beef back.

Beyond the obvious complaints about how TOR is not an MMO, these complaints seem to be more frequent with every game launch, which leads me to believe that most folks don’t want to pay a subscription for the level of game design we are now seeing in MMOs.

If things are going to remain the same from here on out with MMos should we bother paying for them? Someone in another thread brought up a good point; most single player games have more robust and better multiplayer tools then most of these so called MMOs. MMOs seem to be catering to people who like to play alone, are we seeing a merge in genera here?

If someone made the most epic and awesome hybrid MMO would people eventually feel that paying to play this was just as pointless as the one on rails? Here is what I expect to see…. “I’m not going to pay for this beyond the first month” Why? Are MMos these days just boring? What’s the secret to making folks want to pay a regular subscription rather than pay as they go?

Opinions and thoughts?
