What is it with these leveling speed complaints on the official forums?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 6/11/12 1:37:22 AM
Originally posted by cooper85 Leveling is a level per 2 hours says the developers. I was leveling doing heart quests and surrounding dynamic events at about 4 level in 3 hours (if you focus on it). NOrmally i level about 1 every 90 minutes. And that's not repeating content or redoing heart quests. |

What is it with these leveling speed complaints on the official forums?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 6/11/12 1:35:16 AM
Originally posted by Zuvielify As my wife said, this is a game for people who like to explore. The hearts are a great way to find things to do, but a lot of stuff happens on the way from and to places and in between. For instance, if you see a cave on your map, go and investigate it, theirs a regular event that takes place in most caves. If you see a skill point, go and try to find it (also events circulate around that). Listen to people talking (talk to people, or listen to idle conversation). Many times they are taking about events going on. Try exploring htew aters, even in starter zones, again events happen. If you play this game like Wow, going from obvious quest to obvious quest, you're not going to find a lot of stuff to do. I stopped talking to the scouts aftter level 10, scouts were put in to ease wow players into a new game. After you figure out that just giong out and "finding things" is the best way to stay busy. |

With access to 3 starting zones their shouldn't be any problems leveling from the beginning. I just made 26 to 30 in 3 hours. Exploration is definately key, many times DEs are often the beaten track. I didnt notice a problem in the frequency. |

GW2 - the first MMO to make you puke ? ...(literally)
Beta Weekend Event Reviews & Impressions (Archived) « Guild Wars 2 6/10/12 3:33:53 PM
I havn't experienced this in the game, but I have this bad in console games. This is very common, your brain essentially can't tell the difference between reality and the game. There are a lot of articles about it. After years of so many incomplete games (batman:arkham, dragon age 2, mass effect 2 etc). I deciced to do some reasearch talk to my doctor. I was given dramamoine, a magnet wrist band and some ginger pills (from gnc). I have finally beatten all of them.

Beta Weekend Event Reviews & Impressions (Archived) « Guild Wars 2 6/10/12 2:26:08 PM
I decided not to try it out this beta. Had a ball last beta, but by the time i logged on we were pitted against 2 new servers and owned 94 percent of the map (and sunday still holding) lol. My hope is that i am just on an awesome server but i know its the server balance issue. |

What is hurting current MMOs the most?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/10/12 1:05:24 PM
What is hurting gaming is the mindset I've read in 2 upcoming MMOs. We want people who play MMOs to feel comfortable playing MMOs so we did A, B C Do you hear this kinda crap from any other genre. "We want you to feel comfortable playing god of war so we made it like metal gear? " "We wanted you to enjoy Halo so we made it like DOOM,"

Action MMO + no grouping req in general PvE + no global has me worried for the community building in this game
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 6/10/12 1:01:22 PM
Unsure if its a role playing server or what, but lots of chat going on in my general area for various large events. I think I found more chat near cities and places where people were idle. Unlike a lot of games, theirs no way to sit in even the basic combat and chat. So you have to go to hte city zones. I've made 4 friends this weekend, just from adventuring for a bit together. |

Originally posted by Meowhead I'm with the you. If you're bored you're trying to be bored. I never got bored with Secret World, frustrated- saddened- annoyed , but not bored, cause i made my own fun. And when the anger got to me i'd cut it off for a few hours and play again until i got annoyed. Fairly odd how folk who grind the same dungeons over and over and over and over an over again troll GW2 forums and talk about how bored they are. Irony

Originally posted by Nykyrian In 2004, WOW was the hottest. It had great grpahics for its time. Their were a few other non-aaa titles that came out, but they didnt hold a candle. However, graphics "alone" do not make a AAA title. It's the money that is invested in. It's the production that makes the title. Their are some AAA titles with horrible graphics in this world. That's not what makes it AAA, it's that they are putting a lot of money into producing it, even if they waste it. |

Originally posted by drakaena Unsure how selfishness got so ingrained in this current crop of gamer. As someone said, the best reward for winning wvw is giving your server bonuses to stats not to mention giving your guild bonuses as well. But, if your'e looking for pvp grindfest, you knew when u cut it on guild wars was not the game for you. You certainly can't get on here and have barely touched most of the content and then claim bored. If you are, this wasn't the game for you anyway, and your wow sub is calling. |

Pathfinder Online (Sandbox) has 48 hours left on Kickstarter

Originally posted by Traugar I understand that you have modified the rules of the game, but as per the rules of game players should be within one alignment of each other. It's also quite unbelievable for good players to party or travel with evil players for any length of time. Dnd was designed as a cooperative game, so actions against other players are against the design of the game. I can only speak to the hundreds of players I've dm'd, and few would want to be apart of a campaign that was consistently derailed because the DM is not following the rules and restricting alighnment. Say you have that orc. Following pathfinder rules his ability score isn't lower than a 7, which is smart enough to know right from wrong. Run your game how you want, but if you're breaking rules to allow your dm style that's on you. If you have a player constantly derailing the campaign, trust me, your other players don't like it. |

Skills and Traits: Much Ado about nothing
Beta Weekend Event Reviews & Impressions (Archived) « Guild Wars 2 6/08/12 3:12:46 PM
BWE 2's big skill change definately changes the game for the better. First, the world didn't end, which was nice. Second, you should be able to unlock everything pretty much at the same pace. Skill prices are lower and balanced. We have our 1 point skills, 3 point skills and 6 point skills. This makes for a very neat way of presenting information. |

FActions are your servers. ) WvW X Open World PvP X (no, but open world PVP is pointless in a cooperative Role playing game (see all RPGs) Fully Explorable World X X Seemless World X X (GW2's starting zones are 1.5 times larger scale wise than the high level Rift zones) |

Originally posted by OldManFunk If the holy trinity is your porn, then rift is the best game you'll find, Rift have great developers. HOwever, if you are looking for another type of game, GW2 is setting hte bar. You can clearely see that at the games that are coming out. Games like neverwinter and elder scroll are using GW2 as their template for new and innovative combat. If i had to choose a holy trin game i'd go to rift, but, like now, i'd rather just wait for something new. I hate trudging to get levels in Rift. I hate the stand here and fire this type of combat that theo nly trinity brings and i hate competing in cooperative games. |

Originally posted by Teilo Believe it or not, that's why i am now kinda looking foward to this game. 4e was a great board game/ great mmo game and makes for a decent ruleset for an MMO. I like to think that 4e was research for this game.

See, i don't think ranged have as much an advantage as you think. Melee combatters just need to know how to play the game. Ranged fighters can stand back and fire, but do lower damage. Melee takesa risk and have to dodge and use their healing abilities effectively. This isn't going to change. |

There havn't been two beta event? Just the one? But if you're judging a game by whats in beta or a stress test you're taking the wrong approach. Even still melee worked fine for me guardian and engineer (though i want more melee options). And both wer primarily lag free. |

So why have pvp at all if its , again , just a side effect. Why not find a more DnD like way to resolve player versus player conflict. This goes back me saying create a new game. Stop copying off the old game. PVP, what else can u do with a game? What about a war engine? a diplomacy engine, a trade engine? Why develope these caveman conflict resolution intiiatives that gamers (en masse) just don't like. PVP is literally anti DnD. Any DM will tell you, you want to slow down a session of a game. You want to create real life conflict in your group. Allow players to attack one another, steal from one another and grief one another. Quickest campaign you'll ever run. |
