Gw2 is a subtle beast. It took me a while to get into it.
Beta Weekend Event Reviews & Impressions « Guild Wars 2 4/30/12 8:19:26 AM
heh, I randomly ran into that Shadow Behemoth. I will tell you, the fight is interesting as it sows chaos around it.

I hope they add many more skills related to each weapon type for each class later.

Still terrible FPS in GW2 - Worrying
Beta Weekend Event Reviews & Impressions « Guild Wars 2 4/27/12 2:19:16 PM
Honestly, I am surprised how well it ran for how old my system is. But I did get a brand new ~$2,100 computer all from Newegg coming in by next week.

I doubt being the producer of a WH:40k or WHFB PC game is not difficult with Games Workshop's IP restrictions (which I think how they manage their IP is good, I just absolutely refuse to play their TT games due to their poorly written rules). But it is producing a game that will play well while following what the player base wants to see as an MMO that is a nightmare. And I am 100% in the boat that to do a properly done WH:40k MMO, there ABSOLUTELY must be at least 5 factions in the game. And we know how disastrous that could be. |

Dungeons & Dragons Online: Menace of the Underdark Trailer
News Discussion « General Discussion 4/11/12 9:25:28 PM
One thing that keeps me from this game is the horrible, repetive animations. I love the idea behind the gameplay, the mechanics, the lore, the story. But if they are pushing all this money into content and stuff, why could they just not add like, a few more animations to spell casting and combat? Those extra few animations would go a LONG ways. |

Would you support Raids with just cosmetic rewards
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 4/11/12 8:05:58 PM
Interesting to see the poll at exactly 50/50. I can see raids containing gear that is partly cosmetic but not completely. |

Could the "poetic" UI be something that gives you visual cues in your current surroundings based on your skills? Maybe you assign hotkeys to Celerity Hostile and Celerity Beneficial. When moving your character, you can visually see some type of cue, maybe some blurring of your character, where you hit your Celerity Beneficial button which then gives you increased speed for a duration based on your Celerity power. The Celerity Hostile could be visual cue for introducing blocks and attacks during combat that you must manage to hit the hotkey at the right time to perform an action to counter-attack someone at lightning speed. At least that is what I think of a "poetic" UI. Basically, your environment gives you the cues based on the current "plot" of the environment. |

This is no surprise. As soon as they announced two faction play, it was already over. |

Would finite resource ever work in an MMO?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/28/12 8:44:49 PM
Maybe instead of completely finite, make stuff have a rarity. Based on population values (all online/offline accounts with at least a single character on the server), raw materials replenish as a function of rarity and population. Rare material may only respawn 100 points of resources while common material respawns at 1,000,000 points. So once a resource is gone, everyone has to wait for it to replenish before seeing more. Have common, reoccuring areas were a light amount of a material replenishes each time the replenishing happens but the rich deposits will be random and scattered around the world. Allievates all the issues with characters hoarding it all or inactive accounts. Makes resources scare when they are in demand, especially rare materials. |

Many, many reasons combined together, as basically everyone have said. I so wanted this game to work. I do not understand the logic behind pushing 2 factions when the Warhammer lore already has 3 factions in it (Order, Chaos, Netural). While I concede that Mythic was pushing new territory going into PQs, they were done illogically by not linking PQs together so individuals would see and feel the natural progression between them. Removal of various classes and cities at launch. Overall performance of the engine. |

The character customization was so so for me. Physically, you can alter the look of your character about just as much as any other MMO. But making yourself stand differently from another character of the same class was completely devoid. The only differences you can make in terms of character abilities/skills was the glyph system. Basically boiled down to a talent tree with no branches to follow but did not change your character abilities at all. In terms of combat, it was done great. Wished there was some way to customize your basic attack and add more chains to the triggered combat skills. Fighting a basilisk for the first time was pretty awesome. Took a lot of movement playing as a Mystic. |

I can not see myself playing this game long term. No character customization regarding skills/abilities. Glyphs are a joke for customization. World much too linear for my liking while I understand that I did not get to play fully through the game, I do not see this changing much going into higher levels. Also, I could reach lvl 30+ in ~24 hours of gaming is not a good sign either, at least to me. |

Yup! At least I will now have something to play while waiting for other MMOs. |

why are gender-locked class is today's big thing?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/20/12 1:36:46 PM
It is because those games are made without their players in mind. |

I mostly concur with RefMinor. If the artist believes in the design he/she created, then I see no problem. Also, if the designer's creation is only pushed by the business to promote profits, then there is a problem. But there is also other aspects. Providing only options that are considered "sexy" by the designer, by any agenda, would be considered sexist. Of course, a lot of this is speculative because every individual views their looks differently. So, I personally say, give options. This is the safest bet. |
