I am not a troll, and I dislike the game a great deal. You can both not like something and share your views on a message board and not be trolling. I don't want a reaction out of you, I am not fishing for a negative response. I am here because I want to talk about my experiences... share them with other users and maybe save some people on the fence money I wish I could have saved myself. These are free and open forums and we all have that right. I do not like the game. It is a WoW clone in almost every sense of the word, where the differences lie would be the heavy Korean influence. From the poor sound effects to the button click to loot, and the setting up your character as a merchant out in the world. The grind. Okay some say it is not so bad, in my opinion it is that bad. I do not want to have to kill a hundred of the same mob to level, I do not want to have to grind anything a game should be fun from the start and should be without you having to put in effort. Going from level 1 to 10 in my opinion takes too long and if you do not grind in between you are not going to be able to kill the mobs in your next level without significant downtime. This is especially true for rogue types. I think it is laughable I can only kill one crab before i have to bandage and or sit and wait to regen health. MMOs as a whole have worked to eliminate down time I don't even mind it taking as long as it does to go from 1-10 I do mind that so much of that time is spent doing nothing but bandaging or resting or running back and forth to places I have already been... multiple times. Spam? No one can defend the spam levels in this game so please stop trying. I logged in and I could not view ANYTHING going on in the chat window I had gold sellers and power levelers all over the chat trying to sell their services or wares while encouraging me to visit their websites. Blocking them takes time out of my play time adding to more down time. It is great when they come in every channel including tells... and then you get the ads in in game mail as well. Talk about immersion destroying. Not only that I constantly missed tells from people I was trying to talk to in the sea of spam. Block it all but know it would all be back the next day... why bother? Bots... yeah. Again no one here can deny they exist and that they get in the way, beyond that it is just plain frustrating. In conclusion NOT a game worth the $70 dollars I paid for the CE, and certainly not one I would EVER recommend to anyone I know. To those reading this post.. .I have been playing MMOs since UO in 1997 I am a fan of the genre I love the games... this is not a game I love in fact I didn't even like it... a little.
I would ultimately make your own decision but think long and hard before you spend your hard earned money on a game with so many issues. Hope that helps at least one or two people like me who might not have the extra cash to blow for a game you won't play but 2-3 weeks tops especially when it is painful and not fun to do so. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic will fail just like WAR and AoC.

I could not find where this has been addressed before but can one of you kind souls in the beta tell me... Is this a point and click movement system or can you configure it to use WASD or the Arrow keys?
Thanks in advance. |

Penny Arcade comic : Homosexuality in Star Wars: The Old Republic
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 4/29/09 10:58:28 AM
There are a number of player groups based around being gay, I remember when SWG launched their forums had a major issue with these groups and their right to exist in game. Personally I just do not much care about it one way or the other, either you are or you are not gay. I do not see it as noteworthy, and I do not get offended by it. I am sure there were gay people in the Star Wars universe however ;) |

Poll: Does the lack of ship interiors decrease your interest in this game?

I do not spend every waking moment on a message board for an unreleased video game trolling, trying to prove my superiority, debating every point even when I do not have a solid leg to stand on. I find your comments above ironic in that sense. In the real world no one cares about your epeen. So stop trying to stroke it here, be a man and take the hit. Your post count doesn't matter, and trying to sell yourself as king of the as yet unreleased Star Trek Online Universe doesn't matter. What does matter is making sense, and being credible in what you say so there is accountability.

Poll: Does the lack of ship interiors decrease your interest in this game?
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 4/20/09 11:01:37 AM
Originally posted by ktanner3 While I respect your opinion, and your right to disagree and surveys are conducted for a reason. If your line of thinking held true there would be no point in ever voting or conducting polls and surveys. What you are saying is no matter what you do they are tainted and therefore without value and merit. That said why are they a staple in our country, and in our world? If you poll New York state certainly you are going to have a greater result of Democratic leaning thoughts and opinions but knowing this alone allows you to gain value from the information that is gathered. You can do a plus or minus on the results to help you figure out the actual number and therefore the results indeed have value. Or you ca n perceive a clear shift in the line of thinking in a given state. If New York state which has been largely democratic leaning for sometime suddenly started to have a shift in that and the poll results bore that out you would then be able to look at the results and from it along with other research perhaps infer why this was the case. I am sorry you can not say all polls are invalid as a tool because of any reason. Unless they are blatantly falls, or slanted in such a way as to pad the results then there is value to them. This site is notoriously cynical, demanding, and hard on games. It is a WoW hating community and one that is sarcastic and unforgiving for the most part. Knowing that allows you to look at the poll results with an educated eye. I am not suggesting you accept the results blindly but use it as a tool to educate yourself when making a conclusion. The results of this poll show beyond a shadow of a doubt people do not favor the decision to not include free roaming of the interiors at launch. Period. The plus or minus on that? I do not know but I do know that as it stands the people here spoke out and were heard. The poll was asked here, the results are relevant here, and should be considered as relevant to the games creators as such. |

Excellent points all, I say again it is not for everyone and I totally respect that the game's designers have to appeal to the broadest audience. If a person is happy with no interiors it is their right, and that is what this thread is about isn't it? To try and nail down some opinions on that very topic. Everyone has an opinion, some care and some do not. Personally I would want free run of my ship, I do not need to see EVERY little part but I want to be able to move about it freely and see as much of it as is humanly possible. I am not a fan of restrictions, invisible walls, only allowing access during specific events.
Again it destroys immersion. That is my personal opinion, and for me it is a game breaker. Not for you AWESOME! Enjoy the game, the threads point was to figure that out and it should able to do that without overly opinionated people pushing their own personal agendas and running people down to try and make themselves feel superior. I especially love the claims of "poll padding and espionage" because so much is to be gained from doing that. \ I will be honest I did in fact laugh out loud when I saw that.

That was funny.
I have been in this forum for a heartbeat now and hag, I am going to be honest all the LULZ and ROFLCOPTERS mark you as someone who is really immature, you might even have valid points but they are going to be lost on anyone with an IQ over ten. It is typical elitist 14 year old WoW guild speak coming out of your mouth and no one wants to hear that.
I would also like to ask why it is people feel the need to thumb their noses at those who might actually enjoy this aspect of the game. Player housing is something I want in game in all my MMOs the technology is there for this to be in game. I find when there is no housing it is due to laziness and it is always promised later. Same thing with vehicles. We have had over 10 years of MMOs and we have the technology, the experience, and talent to create games without adding in things like vehicles, mounts, housing, and ship interiors AFTER the fact.
Well firstly, I couldn't care less what you think about my use of very well known, and oft used for years, intenet forum colloquialisms.
and secondly... well secondly your post is so full of untruths and mistakes I just don't want to start in on it because it would just be mean of me I think. You go ahead and believe all the rubbish you want to believe mate. All the power to you. Just don't expect that very many others will buy into it.
I am glad you do not care you go on sounding like a child, and I and many other people will go on not taking you seriously. Especially when you use it to try and put people down. I am not talking about internet short hand which is lazy in and of itself, and I think despite your feigned ignorance you know exactly what I a m talking about.
More over just because it has been used by some on the internet for years doesn't mean you need to stoop to that level it is lazy, implies ignorance, and is more used by people beneath our stature. You have been selling yourself as some sort of wizened sage type and sadly that is not the face you are showing. You scream "rabid fan boy" '14 year old internet troll" "elitist WoW-head". I am not running you down I am trying to help you... because I care. Please point out the untruths in my post, I welcome that. Instead of just trying to sell yourself as superior to me (a common thread in all your posts. We get it you think you are better than everyone else.. okay tone down the rhetoric already no one is buying it we just think you are a clown) Seriously where is my post presenting untruths? Where have I said anything that is false? I am pretty sure my post simply states factual information based off official press releases you yourself are touting as fact, so unless you are privy to information us lowly peasants are not please astonish me and the rest of your reading public (because clearly you think you are on a stage) with you acumen.

Age of Conan "Early Access".... AoC = 13.7 GB
General Discussion « Age of Conan 5/12/08 6:37:01 AM
I have the early access card as I pre-ordered but I do not see where there is an option for me to pre-pay to download the early access? How do I set that up exactly? I have found the communication very much lacking in this area, and that bothers me. I am willing to pay for the access but at no point when I was registering my early access card did it prompt me to do anything more. All of the subscriptions i see are for Anarchy Online. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? |

I just went and picked up my RAVE card, which finally arrived. Of course this thrilled me to no end. Sadly I have had no time to read it over, or research it on the net as yet. So I turn to you my comrades in arms here at MMORPG. What is the process for using it? Should I go "register" now? Will they let you creat an account at this point already? Do you have to wait unti lthe 14th to register, redeem the RAVE card, and then download? Just a bit confused. Your help is as always appreciated. |

How long have you been playing MMORPG's?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/24/08 10:16:22 AM
Ultima Online actually had its first live test in early 1996, it was termed as many are an alpha test. That said I started playing UO in 1997 for the bulk of my time in UO I played on the Catskills shard. I loved UO, it was my favorite MMO to date and no game since it has been able to capture that magi for me. I have played most all of them, including the bulk majority of the free offerings and some are better than others. I played UO for 4 years roughly. EQ for 3-4 years, with a few breaks here and there. DAoC, SWG, AO, and so on down the line. Oddly enough never got into AC despite giving it a couple of tries, and I never bothered to try Shadowbane. Other than that I have played pretty much all the commercial releases up to and including Vanguard, PotBS. Hell I even played the Matrix Online. UO, EQ, and WoW so far have been my favorites. Not that each was without issue, because CLEARLY they all had their own problems. But UO offered the right mix of things and no game has put them all together since then which makes zero sense to me. It was one of the first, and clearly the one that was the first major commercial success. Why people would stray so far from a successful formula and failed to return to it is beyond me. |
