Careful! You'll dehydrate, remember you still need to drink that water.

For me, the math is different. I can't find the time to play three games at the same time. And paying for three games probably means none really really capture my interest enough. Which has been the situation lately.

A monthly sub for a game that really capture me is well spent money. But F2P (with shop) games would mean more freedom to put the game down for a while and not worry about the sub ticking.

If only there was a F2P game worth playing... (IMHO)

Same thing with Tabula Rasa. Installing and patching doesn't work, but the game runs fine with Wine. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=11093

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my impression is that the reason why the old Ultima Online PK system was even remotely semi-successful was that, at the time, there was not too many alternative MMOs for the so-called "carebears" to play. Even if the PK victim didn't enjoy being a victim, he couldn't just choose a different game. As more game became available the PVE players left.

Hey

I wanna play FFXI, the game seem deep enough plus I love the design of this game's armour!

But, there's a problem, I have a little baby and he wakes up some times in the evening, usually at bad timing. I have to leave party and run off to put him back to sleep. From my understanding, FFXI is heavily group centric, and leaving a group during a quest can be devastating.

So, would you advice me NOT to play FFXI, or can you make progress without groups at all?

Thanks for the reply! I'll check that forum. RMT is short for Real Money Trading.

- Lifelike mob AI. Carnivores hunting herbivores. Mobs should move around dynamically and not respawn at the some spot.
- Skillbased.
- A setting that's not just another Tolkienesque world. It can be Sci-fi, but there are still fantasy themes out there that aren't as overused as the dwarf/elf/dragon thing (maybe something like Princess Mononoke, NausicaƤ, ICO/Shadow of the Colossus, etc)
- Non-combat gameplay: deep crafting/diplomacy.
- Volountary PVP, castle sieges, clan wars.
- A pretty world you want to hang out in, built for normal or even low end computers.

Hey fans, what's good with this game? I can't seem to find alot of positive opinions...

And I have some questions:
1) I read that vehicles and ships can be crafted, but I haven't seen any in-game. Are they not usable?
2) Can you manage, and have fun, without spending more than the "normal" MMO fee of 15 USD in Entropia (for a player who rather hunt mobs than study the market).
3) Sweating mobs is really not the funnest intro to a game I've seen. But will it get better as you progress?
4) How does RMT affect the community? Are they all super-greedy?

Bah! I don't see the issue here, wikis are suposed to work like this. Anyone can edit, why can't companies? And why couldn't you just change it back?

A lot of the removed text was way too critical for an encyclopedia like wikipedia anyway.

It's usually a matter of licensing. The publishing rights are sometimes sold only for the European region - or the North American region, etc. When another publisher buys the rights for a second region they need to block out players from elsewhere.

I've recently tried Acclaims 2Moons (a version of Dekaron) and they had to block us Europeans when the same game was sold to a European company.

It's just business!

LOTRO is a more complete game, built mainly for the social players in mind (I think). It's EXTREMELY generic fantasy and Tolkien would turn in his grave(*).

TR is still lacking in some areas - crafting and endgame mainly. It is built for the exploring focused player, missing important social tools. For me, the fast-action gameplay is lots of fun, but I can't see it as my "main game".

(*) From the lovely Team Spirit's guild forum (I hope it's okay that I quote you guys):

  • A hobbit postman is easily able to deliver 50 gold bars in one go, but is somehow unable to carry both a raspberry and a strawberry at the same time.
  • Eating bacon makes you more agile.
  • Inflation in Middle Earth is so extreme that by the time you come to sell a gold bar, it is only worth about one silver piece. Hobbits are not the sheltered, insular species many believe. They frequently leave the Shire to have adventures and often attack heavily armed goblin encampments.
  • A two handed sword weighs exactly the same as a dagger and takes the same amount of metal to produce.
  • Ore is a renewable resource and no matter how much you mine, more will always appear.
  • No real racial tension exists between elves, dwarves, hobbits and men. They are happy for you to drop by, or even buy property in their respective communities any time you want. They won't sell you interesting furniture though, unless you complete a huge number of random tasks for them.
  • Monsters instinctively know if you are much better at fighting than they are and so will leave you alone.
  • You can buy four houses for the price of one pony (no wonder Sam was so reluctant to let Bill go free!)
  • Enraged bears are fluent in dwarvish and will shift their attention to anyone that shouts 'Baruk Khazad!' at them.
  • Contrary to popular belief, it's actually alright to question the ways of wizards. They will be happy to explain stuff to you over and over again.
  • If it weren't for regular culls by adventurers, Middle Earth would be entirely buried under a 10 metre deep layer of boars.

EDIT: Doesn't all MMOs include a month's gameplay? I can't see it as a "Free Month" since you already paid for the darn box.

My pilot might just contact you, House of Marek sounds fun. (Even if my pilot is just Caldari)

Thanks everyone, I'm happy to see the thread didn't turn out as a flame war, it wasn't my intention. I sort of hoped the game could be a Ryzom substitute, since they're both sandboxes, but it's unfair because the gameplay is so different. Ryzom is warm green PVE and EVE cold black PVP.

I made the thread to find out if my experience is just because I'm a newbie or if it's how the game plays.

Thanks EVE, but I don't think I'll stay a second month. Why, you ask? Well I'll try to explain (and it may just be my inexperience, but this is why):

1) Biggest reason is that all areas look too much alike, save for different backdrops and a few structures. I don't feel like exploring space at all.
2) Combat (against NPCs) has so far been just target-orbit-shoot-repair-repeat, it doesn't feel engaging at all. If I feel I'm losing I have to ge to a station and buy better gear and try again, I can't really change in the middle of combat.
3) PVP - I can't stand the PKers camping jumpgates and attack as you enter the system. And if they attack I have one option - to flee.
4) I wish piloting spaceships would be more fun and feel more hands-on.
5) Atmosphere, no sorry, it's cold, dark and hostile, and all channels are full of trash. Not how I want to relax after work.

The game has loads of good stuff, but I can't see myself playing it every day. I *think* the reasons above is why I don't have fun enough.

PS
No, you can't have my stuff!! I'm still curious about the Ambulation expansion. I want my little pilot to settle on a nice green planet. ;)

Moonlightmist

I'm not so sure, it could be done with some finesse. Until now we had the double-xp crystals that outposts produced, they could be sold at a shop without harming the game, same with the "kiss of Jena"-pacts (lessens the death penalty).

I could see myself pay real money for a pet yubo or a white mektoub.

A gray area would be bigger bags and house inventory.... but actual crafting is core gameplay so they shouldn't touch that.

EDIT: That said, I have yet to find a F2P game with a decent community.

I couldn't solve Myst-puzzles if so my life depended on it, so I didn't play it. But I'm sorry to see a(nother) original MMO closing, and I'm sorry for all the players who lost their home.

Wasn't there supposed to be an upgraded engine with DirectX 9 support in time for the "Wings" expansion for PC? Does anyone know what happened? Is it cancelled?

Yeah, it's a long list. But I think only about 1/5 of the games are MMOs or even multiplayer.

Add Dofus and Vendetta Online to the list

Thanks, but can a level 30 crafter make level 40 or 50 items and enhancements, or is the adventure level limiting the crafted products?
