What is your definition of Pay2Win?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/28/12 12:05:52 PM
P2W for me is anything that gives the player more power through money. I don't consider exp boosts to be p2w, since most pvp happens at end game. For me it's more like someone buying a whole set of gear in a few minutes, that would otherwise take another person a long time to get. |

Give us a subscription no cash shop server, specifically 3 of them for rvr purposes
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 3/28/12 11:59:51 AM
I don't care if they do. I won't pay for a sub and will probably not buy, or rarely buy anything from the cash shop either. As long as the items don't make people powerful, I could care less. EXP boosts and shit like that don't bother me at all. |

Why guys playing girls spook me off
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/27/12 8:27:49 AM
I dunno. If I make a female character, she looks good, but she also looks like a really violent person. Not my ideal girl lol. Same with my male characters. They look cool, but will either look really violent or like a psycho. Not someone I would want to hang out with. |

My thoughts on gear and endgame. Is the carrot needed?

SO let me get this straight. People are actually bad at killing standard quest mobs in the world? People actually judge others for that? Because that's all DEs are. They are this game's version of standard quests. As for World PvP, one person being bad doesn't mean shit. This type of world pvp is more about having good leaders and massive amounts of people following their orders to achieve goals as a team. I don't see how this is any different from 40 man raids where people can slack off and get carried by the rest of their raid. I'm also curious as to why it's important to spot bad players? I never understood the urge for people to call out others. The only time bad players annoy me is when I'm in a small group and they are ruining my fun. If DEs allow bad players to have fun without being ridiculed, I'm all for it. Not everyone will be great at the game, but everyone is playing to have fun. For example, my brother is horrible by my standards, but I would very much like for him to enjoy the game. Also, if nobody bothered to be good, wouldn't anything remotely difficult be impossible to do? |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Update 1.2: The Miracle Patch?
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/14/12 2:22:51 PM
Miracle patch, nope... Haven't really played in over a month now. I was waiting for this patch so there would be rated WZ and a new WZ, but man they're taking forever. Most of my guild rarely logs in anymore. I was hoping this game would hold me over till GW2, but I doubt it. I'll still log in once in a while for some PvP, but not often enough to justify what I'm paying. I'm still curious to see if they fixed the ability lag completely and if the new WZ is any good. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Competitive PVP Interview
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/14/12 1:16:57 PM
Same faction PvP is dumb. To me, it defeats the purpose of choosing a faction. As for why they didnt ask about Ilum, everyone knows it sucks. BW knows it sucks and is moving away from it because it won't be saved anytime soon. |

I don't have a problem with sexy gear. It's never bothered me at all. What has bothered me is when the choices of good looking gear (sexy or not) are so slim that 9 times out of 10 you are wearing something you think looks stupid. Make armor that wouldn't realistically be fit for combat. Make armor that is realistic. Whatever you do make it look good. |

I remember when WAR didn't have a forum. It took a while but EA finally caved in. |

I am always shocked by the prices of CEs. Luckily for me I never buy them lol... |

Standard... Could care less for any of the "perks." |
|
|
At this point I could care less. I will have to see how I feel when I actually play the game. If I'm traveling on foot so much that it feels like a chore just to get somewhere, then I might have to bitch then. Right now, though... It seems like it won't be a problem. |

Lets admit it - GW2 is a "second game" gamers like GW
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 3/08/12 6:24:29 AM
For me, it depends on how good GW2 really is. If it is really good and I enjoy the PvP a lot, it will be my main game, while a sub game might be my secondary. |

I could care less if it breaks the lore or not. I'm annoyed that they are PvE only abilites, just like there are some abilites that only work on weak and standard mobs. It's just stupid IMO. I was actually kind of excited about the Legacy system only to find out this info on the abilites, and the fact that you won't unlock any currently unplayable races. The only thing that looks promising to me is the WZ (from what little I have seen), and the UI changes. |

Aion's environment textures have always been kind of suspect. I still feel the character graphics are great and the overall look and feel are much better than many MMOs. I still won't play it because of how much work in involved in getting something done. |

Originally posted by Meerkat93 As opposed to paying monthly and possibly getting updated content you don't care for + fluff items for cash? I agree, it would be pretty ass if ALL the cool gear was sold for real money... but as far as content, I can't count the number of times a huge content patch came out, and I didn't give a damn about it. I'm not saying they should release DLCs all the time, but if I could choose what I want to pay for I would rather do that than a monthy fee. |

I would definitely be annoyed by a DLC on day one. I'd still buy the game, but my outlook on their future business plans would not be good. IMO it's just shady to release a one the day the game drops. However, I wouldn't mind if there were DLC in the future. I would much rather choose the type of content I want than to pay monthly and accept anything they make. Of course, I would rather take free content updates over DLCs lol. |

I think it really boils down to making the games more fun. It's really difficult to balance, though. When things take too long to do, people will get sick of it. On the other hand if it's too fast, people will also get bored. I also feel that the amount of time it takes to do something is not necessarily what makes something fun, and devs are confused about that. I'm not sure which generation of player I fall into, but I'm 31 (first MMO was FFXI). I just don't want to do boring tasks for hours on end. Call me dumb, but at the time I thought what WoW did was an improvement over many aspects of FFXI. The problem is these new devs don't realize what made people like WoW. It's not because they made everything easier, they improved on aspects of other games that might be considered a hassle. |
