DDO is crap. From the look which is sort of muddy with washed out colors, to the world of which there is none. You just hang out in a bar and then jump to an instanse, which is always underground I believe. The game should have been in delvelopment another six months or a year. No druids? No half-orcs?

The bulk of your quests get put in at the start, if the game is short of quests its always going to be short. They can add content later but they will always be playing catchup and it will never be enough.

For all the things wrong with WoW the game is deep. They added just so many little touches. The flight birds are different for the two sides. There is a subway train you can get on and travel through a tunnel. There are boats, etc. DDO should have been held off so they could add more to it and make it a real game.

The problem is with SWG is that we have heard this all before. They make plans and make promises, but they never see the light of day. The Devs are the boy who cried wolf.

The other problem is that as long as Jedi are a playable class the game will be messed up. At this point its a catch 22 though, because most of your player base is Jedi. However even those playing Jedi are unhappy, because the class isn't the Jedi from the moives. The Devs have done a good job of making it the most powerful of the classes, but I doubt that will be enough. The devs push back work on other classes to tweak Jedi, which upsets those few playing Officers, Jedi, etc.

DDO is nothing like DnD.
In DnD you have freedom of choice. In DDO you have none.
DnD is great because of the endless possiblities. Not because you can take a feat that allows you to use two weapons with less penalties.

If they made DDO into a pnp would you play it?  Of course not.
NWN is/was fun and comes closer to DnD than DDO because it felt more open ended.
What makes DnD fun wasn't as much the rules as the feeling you could do and go just about anywhere.
As much as I grew to dislike EQ2, still at least as a newbie I had fun. There was no fun as a newbie in DDO.
I've played GW and DDO and have come away with the feeling that all intances is a bad idea. Although at least in GW I was outside and the area felt huge even if only me and my group were in it.

To me, this game is a lot like SWG:space. Which is fun, but I wouldn't want to play only in space.
I don't feel connected to my character when its a car. The action is fun, but I can see how it would get
boring after a month.

I think the next big thing for MMORPG's is a non-static world. Like quests are still act like you are the one hero in the game, but 1000's other people did the quests before you.

You and those 1000's other kill bunnies all day, but there are always more bunnies. You sack a castle or kill a named npc, but 5 minutes late its back. I'd like to see players have an impact on the world they live in. Maybe bunnies numbers in one area go down. Maybe the castle over time becomes abandon then haunted.

Different servers would not all look the same as players interacted with the game differently. The game wouldn't act like I was the only hero around. CoH at least came up with a backstory as to why all those heroes were gathered in the city.

Its a good thing other games only charge a monthly fee. Its not like EQ2 or Star Wars or any number of other mmos want you to pay 15 a month and buy expansions.
