Q: What is the lowest hardware specification for the best effects?
A: We hope that a GeForce 5700 series card or equivalent will be sufficient to play.

I'm actually quite impressed with this statement. I myself run a fairly good gaming rig, but statements like this make me feel like they are putting in the time to optimize the game the best they can.

Wow, that was a great video and really shows an impressive combat system.

I am really excited to play this game! Unfortunately it looks like it won't be coming out till Q4 of 08... I've been trying to find a filler game for the time being...

If I look at my shelf I see:

FFXI, Vanguard, EQ2, GW, WoW, Tabula Rasa...

Nothing seems to fit

You may have been reading about Darkfall, not Aion.

In Aion, will we be allowed to create multiple characters on a single server or not? I would almost prefer only being allowed to make one since it would help scale down on bots and farmers in a small way.

What do you all think?

I haven't seen anything regarding item durability, but I have a feeling it won't have them. Most of this information isn't official yet... and "subject to change".

I believe most MMORPGs, if not all, suffer from bad player driven economies. The main cause of this problem is directly related to availability of powerful items and the demand for them, as you've seen in L2 and FFXI, items in both games have enormous influence on playability. The more rare and difficult an item is to obtain, the more players will increase prices. Gold farmers and gold buyers add to this problem by introducing massive amounts of gold into circulation, thus lowering the value of gold and causing inflation.

From what I can tell, Aion devs are making most high-end and rare items accessible to all players equally, or make it possible for someone to never have to buy from another player forcefully. Hopefully this will keep item value low enough so most impatient idiots don't have to resort to real money trading.

Too true, the downside of this of course is that there aren't as many high value items which impacts gameplay in its own way. In reality its a trade off one way or the other.

Ephimero, thanks for your insight. I am excited to hear that some high value items will be only obtainable through pvpve in 'the Abyss'. In addition thanks for the informative posts you have made thus far, I usually lurk these forums and have noticed you as one who posts a lot of meaningful content regarding this game, keep it up

Hello-

I have been following this game for a brief period of time and after doing a bit of research it definitely is on my radar. I do have a question however, that I was not able to find a concrete answer to on any faq or forum post.

How will the economy of Aion be? Will there be bind on equip items? How about an auction house? Will there be npc buyback? Equipment wear and tear?

Similar games such as L2 and FFXI have been hurt by ebayers exchanging RL $$$ for in-game $$$. As a result the mark up for high end is to much to bear for legit players. Have the Aion developers addressed this concern in anyway? It's a big challenge to deal with, but it appears that bind items have at least but a dent in the practice (not that I'm a huge fan of it, but it seems necessary).

Anyway, sorry for the loaded post. Thanks in advance for your replys, looking forward to this one.

Hey all,

Like many of you, I followed Vanguard way before its release, was in beta, and was terribly disappointed with the end result.

Now a year later I am wondering if this game I had such high hopes for is worth going back to?

I have a couple pointed questions about it and those are:

Has the performanced improved since I quit (mid April)?

I have upgraded my rig significantly since I quit, however my brother is still playing WoW on his P4 with 2gigs of rams and an AGP 6800 GTS... Vanguard was playable for him before he quit as well, will he see any improvements if he comes back?

How is the PvP?

Are there terrible imbalance issues with regards to classes? If I end up going back I will be PvPing. Any input here would be helpful.

Is there anybody out there?

Particularly on the PvP server, is the population pretty decent?

What kinds of things have improved?

Have there been significant steps forward with this game from SOE? What does the future hold going forward?

Anything else?

Is there anything else I should consider before jumping/not jumping back into the game? Any input is greatly appreciated. I know that some of these are pretty loaded and controversial questions, but I will take any constructive feedback. Many thanks!

I noticed this as well by reading the game FAQ. My question is, since it is a PvP FFA server and there are no levels, how does one know whether or not it is a good idea to target another player to kill?

I've been hunting for an MMO to get into for quite awhile. I am tired of the way MMOs are made now and am really frustrated with the current market.

This game though, seems like it could restore my will to continue playing MMOs. It's really make or break at this point =(

Is this feeling part of the reason many of you are holding out for this game? Despite its extremely long development?

I began to question if the game was ever going to come out after researching it, but the fact the devs put out a weekly journal on it (see official site) gives me some confidence.

What are your thoughts?

Alright guys, I managed to find the EoF expansion which includes all the previous expansions.

I was down in VA last weekend and searched 6 stores, and none of them had the game. But after coming back to PA I was able to grab it at one of the EBgames.

Thanks again for the help and I'll see you in game!

Ah, I see.

It's great to hear that everything is coupled together in the EoF expansion.

Does this include 'adventure packs' that were released in the past? If not, is there any real value in obtaining them as well?

Thanks!

BTW my guys name on Nag is Griffith, if anyone that uses these forums is rolling a low level char on the same server, feel free to send a tell my way.

Hello all-

I was at my local game shop when I saw the EQII sitting on the shelf for only $7. I have been looking for an MMO for a while and was looking into EQII and that pushed me over the edge. Now I am playing on Nag PvP and I am loving it! The game is challenging and fun. I'm currently playing a 15 Berserker.

My question is, I picked up the base but now am realizing that there are several expansions out there (3 namely). That I would need to get to get the most out of the game. I was wondering if anyone has ever come across an all-in-one pack, or something of that nature. If not, what would be the best way to aquire the expansions?

I have looked into it, and have come across the digital download, but I would really like to purchase something that has it all together in a retail shop (to perhaps save some cash). The most I've seen is two expansions rolled together going for $49.

I appreciate the help!

Hey all,

I've been playing Vanguard for awhile and am a level 10 Thestrean Pally on Varking. I have yet to have any PVP encounters yet. I was wondering if there was some faction map available online that was available. Something that told me what cities are not friendly to the 'Order' group, what areas were neutral ground, and what is home.

Thanks in advance!

Yea, it does indeed suck. I am curious, is this only an issue with people who have had pre-open beta access, as well as having pre-ordered? My bro, who just bought the pre-order and did not get into eariier versions of beta, is having a wonderful time playing and he is not letting me hear the end of it ><
