While Valve hire successful mod-makers and publish their games. That happened with Team Fortress, Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat. And they going to publish DotA 2 now. And for that i respect Valve. They give to mod-makers what they rightfully deserve. And about Team Fortress. That was a very popular Quake mod at first, but Valve hired mod devs and made Team Fortress Classic. And ID software wasn't like "it's been used exclusively by ID and its fan community so you can't use Team Fortress name".

So I hope Valve will win this one.

 

Yes, they never care! They never care to provide to IceFrog every tools he need. They never care to promote DOTA ! They never care to hold and promote championship's of DOTA! They never care to fund championship's ( and because of this, IceFrog won some big money ) ! They never care to re-configure their servers to hold more players to battle in DOTA over battle.net ! They never care about VALVE DOTA, when they announced it. They never care about the community now, when they are fighting to keep the DOTA name free of use.

Well, as my english is not my main language, nor I can write it good , Zecinator  have stated exactly what I wish to say. Blizzard even let Valve alone when they first announced Dota 2! But when they heard that Valve is trying to trademark the name, well .. they jumped in, like every company/man/woman/cat/dog would have done.

Erm, they never said they want DOTA to be registered under the Blizzard company! They are talking about who has the most rights for the DOTA name. And yes, Blizzard has the most rights to use the name, but even so , they didn't tried to registered it! Well, this untill Valve jumped in and if Valve does not win, I hope Blizzard will take it. Years of promoting and supporting DOTA does not give them any rights? And now someone else come and take the already known name and start making use of it just to make a big profit because of Blizzard? Wouldn't you be mad if you would promote a *1)free service for the paste 7 years and then someone comes and take it?

True, Blizzard did won money with DOTA , but so did the creator!  DOTA has a name associated with W3 Blizzard and that's saying alot. Give me an already promoted mod/game/name by Blizzard, and I will win alot of cash. Who wouldn't? But it is fair?

Because LoL is not DOTA in any way  at all.  They are both  MOBA's and thats about it.  There are countless differences between LoL and DOTA , however, DOTA to DOTA2 is what you'd exspect from a sequel to a game with improved systems and visuals while retaining the feel of the original you loved.

 

Oh, so you are talking about a sequel which is only possible because the first DOTA was created only with the help of W3 and Blizzard. Again, I am not against DOTA 2 game play, mechanism and such! I am against the name. Do what Blizzard did. Leave DOTA name to community! Simple as that!

The lawsuit isnt about who invented the genre, but who deserves to use the trademark. You never enjoyed dota obviously.

No I loved Dota and play LoL quite abit now. I'm just saying valve try to swoop in and steal a franchise that belonged to the community, and in all rights no one has the rights but if someone had more then the other it would be Blizzard not Valve.

If you knew anything about dota, dota 2 and its community you would know that it 100% supports dota 2 and the use of the name. Valve is not trying to steal anything. Dota 2 will be an exact copy of the original game (to much joy in the community) under leadership of Icefrog who took the game from almost nothing to having a 1 000 000 euro price pool last august (under the name of DOTA 2 but it's basicly dota with better graphics and less heroes). I dont see anyone else deserving to use the trademark except Icefrog himself. The lawsuit is ultimately about money, and it was him who made the trademark worth anyting at all.

Does no one thinks why Blizzard didn't want to register the DOTA name before? If they were "gridy" like some mentionated, they would have registered DOTA name a long time ago. They simple let the name alone for the community to use it freely. If Blizzard will win this case, I really hope they will then try to register the DOTA name under their "belt" , so companys like Valve who try to get famous with others work, should create something new and not do a simple copy/paste.

If you create an app for IPhone with the Apple tehnologie, softwares, etc, then yes! They owns it! It's like you are under the contract with Apple , and you created "this" software for Apple with all the Apple tehnologie and such! Then you quit , and want to get the rights to the software you created under Apple contract, terms, etc.

Anyway, I don't really undestand the people who gives Valve "credits" for trying to register DOTA name. DOTA mod was created with Blizzard softwares for a Blizzard game. Now , even if the guy is working with Valve on a new DOTA game, he still does not have the right to use that name. He created the mod for the community of W3 under the blizzard terms.

Also, there were some comments where they said that is "imposible" to associate DOTA with Blizzard Warcraft game. Are you blind? What's the common word in today MMO's? *WoW Clone* right? And they don't even named their games like World of *.* ( except a few ) . If they release the game under DOTA 2 , I bet that 50% of the gamers will associate game with Blizzard Warcraft!

Blizzard is right , nobody should own the rights for DOTA name. It should be a free *name*. At the end, if Valve will win , then they can easly sue Blizzard for using DOTA mod for Warcraft 3 right? Because the mod is using DOTA name? But I am not sure about this one, so ... please feel free to corect me.

GW2 will start his OB in March or April! ( for sure )! It will last for around 2-3 months, then after 1 month, we will see the release!

Aion will go F2P in february in EU , so there is no way for GW2 to have an OB by then! This is market strategy, and ANet + NcSoft knows what they are doing!

I also know that alot of russian players will be playing on the EU servers! I have nothing against you as a country , but I have something against 80% of the lineage 2 russian players :) So trying to "convert" NcSoft players to Innova players, is not a good think :) There will be players who will try Innova servers, I don't deny that, but they will come back to NcSoft kinda fast ( few days ) !

Ok, I have nothing against Innova for the fact that they are a Russian company! But I find all their services ( forum, website, cash shop ,etc ) , kinda non-proffesional ! Topic(s) from their Community Manager with the titles like "OBT IS NOW LOVE!!!!!! GO GO GO!!" reminds me of private servers and Auto-Registration emails with a text which I can better write myself are just a few thinks which makes me stay with NcSoft! I don't want to think that if I buy something from them ( I know, is optional ) , and having a problem with X item(s) or with the payment, how hard it will be to get in touch with them and to resolve my issue!

All in all , I am extremely happy with NcSoft right now! People from Europe who say that the ping is to high when playing on their servers , are having a old pc or a pitty internet connection. So I am staying with NcSoft which are more proffesional, even with their "background", then Innova or any other company!

Erm! :) All players are starting in the same area now! You saw alot of players in one spot and some of them leveling up right? Is because they finished some quests at the NPC located in the same exact spot! You can speak with him and start questing ! Then you will come back to hand the quest(s) and you will get "GM LVL" same as others :) No seriously, how does people though that GM is leveling random players? And SPAMING the global chat with : GM PLZ LVL ME! !@!

And as you said, you'll level up alot faster! Readed some Innova announcements that you will level up like x4 faster then how is it now ! + Vitality + Vitality Replacement Food ! I think Everything will be alright  :)

As NcSoft stated, the game will be different from 1 to 85 ! You will mostly gain XP grinding AND questing. Also , they will be giving free "gifts" as you level up! For exemple , at level 40 you will get a C weapon ( not shadow ) and armor , at 52 B weapon and armor and so on, up till S grade! And beside those, you will get some Vitality potions or some short of food which restors your Vitality!

But I am pretty sure that those weapons are low-grade, but even so , it's better then nothing :)

I don't really understand as how alot of people did not saw on the NcSoft page that they will be opening new servers when GoD release? So Innova AND NcSoft will both have new servers! And yes, I am waiting to play on NcSoft new server even that, I am an "EU" person!
