I'm just not to sure what to think of this.  I am always following this game so I can see it reach the level of gameplay that I would like to go back to.  But after reading this, I just don't know if that will ever happen or not.  Is there some type of logic that I am just missing here?

forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php

But when WoW did release when comparing to what was out at that time, the game world was a beast.  And since then they have only added on top of that huge foundation.  The AoC "Foundation" is no where near the size it should have been upon release.  Which in turn causes updates to try and play catch-up with the competition.

Been playing fro about 2 weeks so far, and as of yet I do not have much to complain about.  Now granted my highest is 17 so I cannot comment on the ENTIRE game, but what I have experienced has really been fun.

This is the first game that has taken me back and felt like the old Asheron's Call days.  To me it just feels like the way MMO's used to be.  And after all these years it is kind of refreshing.

World War 2 Online.  Was a great concept, but developed by a smaller company which hindered it a bit.  Not to mention the fact that it was RELEASED in 2001, so the tech was kinda limited for the scope of what they wanted to do.

That's an interesting idea that I wouldn't mind seeing implemented in other games. Leveling up your guild. I wonder how this will turn out.

Doesn't WAR have that already? Ore were you being sarcastic?

Yes, WAR does have a leveling system for your Guild.  And this propasl is almost an exact representation of EQ2 Guild advancements.

I am not sure on the exact numbers now since WAR has been tweaking with the servers but Fortress's are still over 100 on each side.

i'm sorry guild's don't make the game

Even though the game was coveted for it's Guild warfare and struggles over Keeps?  I cannot see your logic in this statement.  Please explain.

Looking good, about time to re-activate my sub again.

As for someone who played both games to level cap, I can tell you that War is a much better game than AoC. Just an FYI..I played AoC for 3 months and war for 2. Even though I played War a month less I can tell you without a doubt that War is a far superior product when compared to AoC.
Just look at the subscription numbers. AoC sold over a million copies at launch and they now have less than 100k subs..probably around 50-60k. War on the other hand started with around 750k subs and their subs are somewhere around 300-400k.
Not sure if you did this but you might want to start the same thread on the War forums to get a fair assessment.

Have you played the game lately?
AoC: 200k
WAR: 250k
But WAR is declining while AoC is on the rise. AoC might easily be on the top a month or two from now.

War on xfire #16
AoC on xfire #44

Truth hurts doesnt it!

WAR is on 18th. now ;)

and if you look at the statistics AoC has a increase and WAR has a decrease of activity over the last weeks. now that tells us a whole other truth then WAR atm having more hours played. It does tell us WAR is loosing players, the game is bleeding. While Aoc have already turned their bleeding around and gaining more players.

Truth is while WAR is loosing players AoC is gaining players. we are not talking about huge numbers for both games. But the statistics speaks for itself.

So what you think? Does the truth hurt? :P

AoC is now 51.  Same day last week (02/02/09) the game logged 5,165 played hours played. Yesterday (02/09/09) the game logged 3,828 hours.

WAR is now 18.  Same day last week (02/02/09) the game logged 12,856 hours played. Yesterday (02/09/09) the game logged 11,234 hours played.

Not being a fanboi for either game just showing the current stats of BOTH games.

Alright, well we now have an official response:

Hello guys,

This is Gungnir, Spanish Community Manager from EU

It was just a side effect of the works for the Polish launch and wasn't supposed to be showed.

We have already fixed this.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Kind regards!

It was not supposed to appear, but it sounds like the design of that section is intentional.  Let more speculation run rampant.

No clue dude.  Right now everything is speculation until we receive an official one way or another.

Maybe they are trying to change it to the way they have AO setup.  F2P and to enjoy the full content you need a paying subscription?  but i cannot see them just out of the blue implementing this into the account section without any type of press release or info to the community.

Found this odd, and since there is no topic here yet i wanted to see if anyone else could possibly have more info on this:

I think the true test will be a 2 week window.  If you remember when the PvP patch was first introduced it caused the server population to go up as people wanted to try/see the newness.  But after a week it died back down again since it was still the same game as it was prior to the PvP patch.

This may or may not happen now.  It is cool to log in a see people, but will that be enough to hold peoples interest?  Not sure, will be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks.

Don't forget that the reduction to 18 servers is temporary and that Funcom plans to open fresh start servers after the mergers are done. Details as how many and which ruleset these will have has not been provided yet though.

Funcom has stated they will open 2 new servers once merges are complete.  One will be PvE and the second will be PvP.  Characters CANNOT transfer to these 2 servers, only new characters can play on the servers.

I'm thinking about ttrying the trial after work today.  I used to play about 3 years ago, so I am sure nothing will feel familiar to me.  I will try to find you in-game.

I re-subbed 2 weeks ago since leaving after the first month of release.  And I must say I like the changes with RvR.  I have leveled a few characters to T2 and I have yet to do a single scenario.

I run some PQ's to get the loot, then stay in ORvR to earn the INF loot from there.  Sure people still run scenarios, but there is always some RvR.  Especially in Chaos/Empire region. It's like friggin WW3 going off over there.

I know because I was the one that reported the post to the Mods.  When I clicked the link to cast a vote, I never saw any options.  The only message it gave me was one thanking me for my vote.

Do I expect you to believe me? No I do not, and I am not looking for your approval.  i know what I saw, and apparently the Mods saw it and felt the same way that I did.

And to discredit some of the community even further I give you this thread:

It may not look like much now, but originally the link that worgpest supplied to go to the poll was set to automatically cast a vote for you for AoC.  A mod had to go in and edit his link to prevent this underhandedness.

It is actions like this that prevent me from wanting to return to the game.  All the touting of "this is a mature game, no kiddies here" is total BS.  I see as much if not more 133t (I hate this sincerly) speak and other inmature outbursts as there is in WoW.

And if I hear someone else say "go play your cartoon" one more time I think I may just need to take some pills.

Utter Bullshit. I used that link to vote and yes I had to choose my game.lol

Please read what was written.  A moderator had to edit his post to fix the link that was added.  Which is why the first person who replied to the thread stated "What you just did takes guts."
