Personally I'd suggest waiting for another Sci-Fi space based game to launch, Eve just isn't all its hyped to be.

I would like to see an Earth and Beyond type MMO come out again, not the gank your neighbor style that are being developed or have been released. My major problem with the "Sci-Fi" that we're being given is that its not "Sci-Fi" but is really Sci-Fantasy, Laser Hand Guns instead of Swords, Mutant Radioactive Spiders instead of Ogres etc...

You know when I was in the military we would go about our business from day to day doing our jobs and complaining about one thing or another. There were things that needed to get fixed, painted, replaced etc... a thousand things that seemed to never get addressed and we just had to live with it. That is until some General wanted to do a "Surprise" inspection of his units to see how things really were at the soldiers level of things.

For a couple of weeks before the "Surprise" inspection thats when things would get fixed, repaired, replaced etc... individuals were selected to have a chat with the General so he could get the soldiers perspective. You know the guys I'm talking about, the guys who ran around kissing booty, getting as much face time as they could so they got the early promotions or never seemed to have to pull a detail for the Sgt Major. All for the purpose of showing the General that he had a tight outfit and that there weren't any problems.

So CCP wants to put together an oversight group, thats good in principle. Personally the notion of making a popularity contest out of it is going to give them exactly what they want. A bunch of players that are biased favorably toward CCP, that they can clean things up for prior to their scheduled arrival for their "Surprise" inspection. They need to randomly pick out people who can then drop in unannouced to check things out, you know walk into the developers cubicals and take a look over their shoulders, I highly doubt that CCP employees personal accounts are going to be able to be checked out to see who they play with.

Don't get me wrong I think its a great idea but it needs to be done in a manner that allows it to have a candid look at whats going on rather than seeing whats been cleaned up prior for the "Surprise" inspection.

Make PvP combat consensual only, or create a PVE server. Thats the only thing that would draw me to this game again.

People only post what they want you to see ot try and make their point seem more valid, if he was spamming with the others then he deserved a gag as did the rest of them. That is so long as the rest of them were served with the same fate, if this was an example of past behavior then the ban was definitely justified provided the previous steps leading up to it were used as well. Sometimes it takes a shovel hit to the face to get someones attention, and online games are flooded with people using the anonymity of the internet as means to ruin someone elses playing experience.

So, thanks for showing me that the OP was like so many individuals, not providing the most accurate account of his behavior in an attempt to create controversy. To the OP enjoy your temporary ban and I hope you learn from it.

Looking at the individual tags of the people talking in that channel this guy hadn't said anything up to that point and simply mentioned the Whistle Blower's name. That wasn't spamming, that was just CCP getting a case of the ass and using a size 10 Ban Bat inappropriately, more of the attempts to whitewash the whole issue by getting rid of anyone who dares to say anything that CCP doesn't want to be reminded of.

They need to make the Zero Warp option the default setting for auto-pilot travel, that would at least take some of the pain out of long distance travel.

Amen to the not worth it comment, my rating went even lower even with the short time I've had the displeasure to play this game.

Bans... I really could give a rip. I've already cancelled the account and am just in a holding pattern till it ends, pretty cheap that they stuck me for a months subscription. I figure a little mayhem is justified for the crap the community has provided, this game is a play ground for the vets. New comers are just mobile ineffecitve targets that have no hope of being able to progress. I'll get my moneys worth and let the GM's ban me, so what.

The reset to zero option imo wouldn't work because that could be exploited just as placing bounties on the individual could be exploited. The Karma should have a lasting effect and require the offender to perform activities to reverse it, otherwise what would occurr once the detrimental effects started causing the offender a hardship they could simply be removed by arrainging for the characters death to once again start the process over.

Should the individual choose to remain on the nefarious path then imo perma death should be the ultimate penalty, the gods showing such disfavor that they bring the soul back in for reprograming. The player then having to start over from day one. Now obviously this would only be an issue for the higher level player that likes to camp the low level areas just to get their preverse kicks out of killing characters so far beneath them that there is no risk to themselves and shouldn't be applied to the PvP activities that would be considered appropriate.

The other area of concern I feel needs to be looked at is the issue of the death penalty. Personaly when the entertainment value of a game is lost because of a harsh panalty I think its gone too far. You shouldn't loose months worth of gaming to a death and chalk it up to just the price you pay. Appy a harsh death penalty on an individual too many times and waht happens? They just stop playing the game and move on, who looses then? The gaming company because they lost a subscriber, the community because theres one less person playing the game and the player themself for the time wasted in the game.

Just as the issues of the Griefer need to be addressed so do the issues of the appropriateness of the Death Penalty.

I just found an e-mail from Blizzard where they were informing me that they had locked one of my accounts related to this attack. I shudder to think of what I will find when I get them to let me into it to see whats left and also to see if they will restore the account if its necessary.  If someone who knows how to remove this from my computer would send me step by step instructions on how I can get rid of it I'd be very grateful. Use the idiots guide for virus removal as a level addressing how you need to word it. I use computers but I'm not exceptionally adept at fixing this sort of thing.

You know trivialising crime doesn't lessen the impact that it has. I would like MMORPG.com to step up and help us users that were affected by this Hacker Groups attack on this site. My main computer was infected with this virus and I immediately ran a scan of my computer and it was missed because it was newer than my programs data base. I had to find out from another user on this site what to look for manually and that was how I discovered it was on my computer.

MMORPG.com didn't point the finger at the virus or what to look for which I think is inexcusable, nor have they offered any advice on how it can be removed manually for those of us using anti-virus software that hasn't caught up with the threat this poses. I found out tonight that one of my game accounts was ransacked because of this virus and now I have to try and get the gaming company to restore it if they will that is. They got at least one person with this attack, who knows how many others were negatively affected.

You'd have to bring something else to the plate besides it just being a new server. Why switch just to have the same kind of stuff going on, make the new server offer something that you can't get on the current one. I think Eve could be a real contender in the market if they would just lighten up on the PvP aspect. Why not make the new server have the element of consensual PvP only, take the assholes out of the mix and let people just be able to play the game. I know of course this is going to draw flak from the those that enjoy being able to ass rape their fellow gamers but no one is saying that those that enjoy that kind of thing need to come to the new server.

If CCP really wanted to get some revenue coming in then they would cater to all of the potential subscribers instead of just the sociopaths out there.

This has been voiced before and will be echo'd many more times I'd bet, because Eve has become a haven for anyone and everyone that thinks being an asshat is a great way to play an online game. Eve is full it them and CCP is full of it.... I play an online game to be entertained not to be the source of someone elses entertainment, put the fun back in it and perhaps I might resubscribe. Fail to do that and another company that understands the entertainment industry will be getting my money, pretty simple.

If there are any Admins from Darkspace that watch this site you'd better get out your Ban Bat again because I intend to sabotage every planet that I can that K'Luth has. Players should not be allowed to play the antagonist race in Darkspace or any game where special abilities are afforded to that faction that give them a huge advantage over the other factions. Players who play the K'Luth faction are cowardly and will only go after other players that are in hugely inferior ships. Kind of like hitting a puppy with a sledgehammer, so when my current Ban from this game is lifted I will log in and imeadiately do the same thing.

I find the new "Contract" system hugely cumbersome, the previous escrow system should still be available. The motto of "Keep it Simple, Stupid", should be applied to anything that comes into the game. Make something obscure and someone will find a way to use it in a scam, keep it simple and make those scams easy to spot and people will be happier.

Lets not forget the impact of the ships and equipment that those BPO's represent on the community. Sure there is "X" amount of measurable profit that BoB received, but what was the cost to the rest of the community? What did those ships and equipment cost the rest of us, lost ships, lost revenue from those setbacks and the unfair trade practices that have spun off of the introduction of those BPO's... Its a tangled web we weave etc...
