If you found a monster that was out of sync, you'd kill it. I know you would. |

And what about me? I don't even HAVE an account. I was a beta tester and was supposed to be able to pre-order in advance, but it was too lagged up. You are playing and doing more than I can - THAT'S IT! WIPE THE SERVERS!

There were no advantages that one person had that another did not. If one mob was bugged for someone else, it was bugged for you too. Why not take advantage? Even with no synch issues, these clans would have done the same thing. 12k with 20 people would only take an hour or so to get killing PURELY goblins. No wipe needed. If you didn't take advantage, it's your own fault. The information on mob locations was widely available to all (if you bothered to research in the game). These clan locations are not permanent. Gather some people, form a clan, and take over their city. You can do everything they can - no need for a wipe. |

Play one of the lesser played races... if only because there will be FAR less annoying people there. There definitely is a difference between people who chose humans and people who chose the lesser ones. More helpful/friendlier players. |

I find that disappointing... Everyone is pitching this as an alternativ to DF, but having classes is a pretty huge difference in features. Also, is this an indie company too? |

What kind of fools don't stress test the server?

There were hardly any syncing issues in beta. And for me (and everyone I played with), there were no syncing issuse at all. And I agree that they should've let a lot of people in. Not just for server load, but for to prepare themselves for a smooth launch. There are a lot of things to test than just server load. Even a faux-shopping cart test would've been nice. |

What kind of fools don't stress test the server?
General Discussion « Darkfall 2/27/09 4:13:53 PM
This is basically their stress test. The ONLY reason I can guess they didn't stress test, especially since 70% of the people who beta tested wanted it (and I do wonder what the other 30% think now), is that they ran out of money and HAD to release a paid beta-test version in order to finance more servers. I can't say I feel sorry for the people who are playing now... they had to have known it would be this way. I was in beta and the game was stable, but there was also only a few thousand people playing.

Darkfall is best PvP game that is out. Better than WAR, EVE, AOC, etc. The only bad thing about DF right now is their lack of funds/stable servers. They're basically stress-testing it right now. :| Just pray they make it through this and put up a decent server. |

I think people may not be intending to "escape," but they still are. A non-lucrative hobby is an escape... any form of entertainment (movies, books, videogames, etc) are escapes. I think people don't like to say it because they think it makes them sound like a loser, but it really shouldn't. As long as you only do it for a healthy amount of time and are not obsessive about it - "escaping" through an MMO is fine. I mean what else could it be, but an escape? Entertainment (while not being productive) is basically synonymous with Escape, if you ask me...

Exactly. I forgot the numbers, but i know it's around 5-10k to get a city going. Not very expensive at all. It's not an "exploit" to know where available clanstones are and how to build them. If you read the stuf people in beta were sayin when the NDA was lifted, you'd be privy to all of that info too. |

Clan cities are not difficult to build... especially considering all the places are just stones that need to be claimed. I could get about 500gp an hour by myself killing goblins. 20 people doing that could get more than enough money to setup a clan city (especially since I'm sure everyone knows where they are by now).

The game is actually going just fine, the negative threads mean nothing.

If you had the Darkfall Collector's Edition in your HAND you would say failed launch!
General Discussion « Darkfall 2/26/09 8:49:59 PM
If it was a CD-R, I'd say failed everything. DF sort of saves itself by saying this is a "staged launch" for pre-orderers only. But yeah, I'd say they definitely failed in doing what ever it was they thought they were going to be able to do. However, the game itself has not failed. They will sort it out (I give them 1-3 weeks) and at some point the smoke will clear and we will have a stable server on which to play this game. I'll be there when that happens because the GAME is amazing. The server though... it obviously can't handle enough people at the moment. |

Can someone post a HQ screenshot since the game isn't in debug mode anymore?
General Discussion « Darkfall 2/26/09 4:23:06 PM
I'm interested in seeing too. Although, if they look exactly like they do in beta, I don't mind. I doubt they'll be much beter than beta anyway.... it's really the animations that are bad in DF, not the world/graphics. |

I always thought all you had to do to get stars was post frequently. When I post a few times a day, my stars are high.. if I don't come back for a week, they go back to almost zero. Don't think it has anything to do with the quailty of post. If it does, how do I change people's stars? Don't think you can. |

Haha, Wow. I'm able to play without having spent a dime.

Just be happy they're focusing all of their nerd rage on the DF forums and not shooting up your schools, I guess. |
