There were no advantages that one person had that another did not.

If one mob was bugged for someone else, it was bugged for you too. Why not take advantage? Even with no synch issues, these clans would have done the same thing. 12k with 20 people would only take an hour or so to get killing PURELY goblins.

No wipe needed. If you didn't take advantage, it's your own fault. The information on mob locations was widely available to all (if you bothered to research in the game).

These clan locations are not permanent. Gather some people, form a clan, and take over their city. You can do everything they can - no need for a wipe.

That's like saying police aren't needed because you can buy guns too and go shoot someone before they shoot you.

Can you even look at yourself defending exploitation in this manner?

That's a leap.

If you fight a monster and the monster doesn't fight back, it's not your fault... It's the game. It's not like they're doing something to make the monsters be out of sync - they just ARE. If you found a monster that was out of sync, you'd kill it. I know you would.

And what about me? I don't even HAVE an account. I was a beta tester and was supposed to be able to pre-order in advance, but it was too lagged up. You are playing and doing more than I can - THAT'S IT! WIPE THE SERVERS!

What did you read that gave you the impression Mortal Online had classes?

It says it in the FAQ:

How does the skill system work?

A: Skills are very important in Mortal Online, as they define what you can and cannot do, sometimes even what you can and cannot see. The skills you can learn are restricted by your class, this means that a warrior cannot learn each and every magic school, for example.

Play one of the lesser played races... if only because there will be FAR less annoying people there.

There definitely is a difference between people who chose humans and people who chose the lesser ones. More helpful/friendlier players.

I find that disappointing... Everyone is pitching this as an alternativ to DF, but having classes is a pretty huge difference in features.

Also, is this an indie company too?

This is clearly the reason why companies like Turbine, NCSoft, Blizzard, Mythic and some others are really noobs because they used to stress test their games with real players. They are amateurs that not know anything about MMos development. I think your advise to google it will help them a lot.

/sarcasm off

And may be not in this case but sync problems could be caused by the sync algorithms to deal with the different latencies of players the servers need to manage. More players in a given zone more difficult to deal with the problem and more load to the server. And if the program is not well done, do you know what will happen? These boards are full of people describing it.

I'll say it again since you haven't read the thread.  To the best of my knowledge, the syncing issues in beta were caused by multi core processors.

What does this have to do with how much load a server can handle, again?

There were hardly any syncing issues in beta. And for me (and everyone I played with), there were no syncing issuse at all.

And I agree that they should've let a lot of people in. Not just for server load, but for to prepare themselves for a smooth launch. There are a lot of things to test than just server load. Even a faux-shopping cart test would've been nice.

This is basically their stress test.

The ONLY reason I can guess they didn't stress test, especially since 70% of the people who beta tested wanted it (and I do wonder what the other 30% think now), is that they ran out of money and HAD to release a paid beta-test version in order to finance more servers.

I can't say I feel sorry for the people who are playing now... they had to have known it would be this way. I was in beta and the game was stable, but there was also only a few thousand people playing.

I think a better question is - to all those people who shouted that they didn't want to wait any longer and that they needed to put it out without any stress test - do you still feel that way?

Darkfall is best PvP game that is out. Better than WAR, EVE, AOC, etc.

The only bad thing about DF right now is their lack of funds/stable servers. They're basically stress-testing it right now. :| Just pray they make it through this and put up a decent server.

I think people may not be intending to "escape," but they still are.

A non-lucrative hobby is an escape... any form of entertainment (movies, books, videogames, etc) are escapes. I think people don't like to say it because they think it makes them sound like a loser, but it really shouldn't. As long as you only do it for a healthy amount of time and are not obsessive about it - "escaping" through an MMO is fine.

I mean what else could it be, but an escape? Entertainment (while not being productive) is basically synonymous with Escape, if you ask me...

I got 750 gold+ per hour while questing. Heard of people getting 1000+ on certain mobs +quest for them. My clan claimed a city and noone was exploiting. We played beta and we know how things work. It's not fair for those who didn't played in beta but i'ts not exploiting.

And so what if someone claimed a city. You can siege it and take for yourself.

Exactly. I forgot the numbers, but i know it's around 5-10k to get a city going.

Not very expensive at all.

BUT you're also very vulnerable and can be taken over as I doubt any upper echelon stuff has been built or that you're very capable of fighting.

It's not an "exploit" to know where available clanstones are and how to build them. If you read the stuf people in beta were sayin when the NDA was lifted, you'd be privy to all of that info too.

Yep normally I would not cry foul but there are huge exploits going on. I'm in a NA/EU guild and we were fortunate enough to get a respectable amount of people in with pre-orders on a few of us were in beta so most of our folks are just learningthe ropes. but clans with less then 6 people are claiming City stones in under 12 hours of play. This needs the exploits fixed and a clean restart full wipe. They wer fixed a week ago and now we have the same bugs back in game.

How is that an exploit?

Building a city in 12hours is perfectly feesible with 6 people... They're also incredibly vulnerable to be taken over.

Clan cities are not difficult to build... especially considering all the places are just stones that need to be claimed.

I could get about 500gp an hour by myself killing goblins. 20 people doing that could get more than enough money to setup a clan city (especially since I'm sure everyone knows where they are by now).

They wasted 100's of thousands of hours of OUR time simply by NOT updating us a few times a day over the last 3 days.

There are "100's of thousands of hours" in 3 days for you?

If it was a CD-R, I'd say failed everything.

DF sort of saves itself by saying this is a "staged launch" for pre-orderers only.

But yeah, I'd say they definitely failed in doing what ever it was they thought they were going to be able to do. However, the game itself has not failed. They will sort it out (I give them 1-3 weeks) and at some point the smoke will clear and we will have a stable server on which to play this game. I'll be there when that happens because the GAME is amazing. The server though... it obviously can't handle enough people at the moment.

naw there are people who have 10k posts and yet no stars.

It depends on what your post  is about and how it contribues to the game your mentioning about.

Even trolls and fanboys can get stars by some sort of contribution done in the past.

example imbant got some good rating and even has a thread stickied.

While i dont get along with uber fanboisim he did alot of reaserch in his thread and proved that this game was still in development ect.

Think of older games you played there could be a chance you contribued in a way without even noticing.

Just avoid the bashing of other games people in your post and you may get a shiny gold star.

Now there are people who have high rating because they have contribued one way or another but still go and troll a game or 2.

as in changing stars of other people. If they post somthing utterly negative about another poster. do personal attacks ect. these people you can report and explain why you reported them. Depending on the severity if it is very bad the post will get modded and that player will get warned. his rating will suffer if he did have stars.

however if it really wasnt bad and no edits were done that person will remain unaffected.

Who gives out the stars?

And by frequency, I mean recent frequency.

For example:
If I post 10 posts a day for 5 days straight, I should have close to 5 stars even if I only have 50 total posts. But if I have 1000 total posts, yet only post like 1 post per week for a month, I'll have low stars due to not posting often enough.

I'm interested in seeing too.

Although, if they look exactly like they do in beta, I don't mind. I doubt they'll be much beter than beta anyway.... it's really the animations that are bad in DF, not the world/graphics.

apprentice cause i speak my mind and got a few bans during my AoC rants. Still pissed i spent $50 bucks on it lol.

Yeah same for me, speaking you mind on this site gets you low stars, speaking the truth usually gets you low stars and a ban. It's all good though.

nah to get stars you really need to make some good objective posts.

I always thought all you had to do to get stars was post frequently. When I post a few times a day, my stars are high.. if I don't  come back for a week, they go back to almost zero.

Don't think it has anything to do with the quailty of post. If it does, how do I change people's stars? Don't think you can.

Even if he makes a vid of himself in-game, it doesn't prove that his account hasn't already been activated as the result of a pre-order.

OP: Just tell us all you were bullshitting so we don't have to go ripshit and abuse the AV support site.

True.

The only real proof is that I put all of my info in the Pre-order section too and have a patched beta client and I can't get in the game using his method.

Just be happy they're focusing all of their nerd rage on the DF forums and not shooting up your schools, I guess.
