To help you out OP, someone mentioned to check your driver. Would really recommend that first as it is the most simple solution. There have been other games that have launched and cause video cards to overheat and to actually melt. Drivers and patches were released to fix the problem. If you do still have issues then you can look into a new power supply.

Looking at the recommended power supply for your video card, 450W is the absolute minimum.

Of course it's recommended to use a good PSU, it's not NEEDED but anyway on a seperate note.   That link is pretty accurate from what I seen, however new cards use far less power then those cards do so it's not as critical to have an after market PSU these days.

Measured power consumption Radeon HD 6990 (default mode)

1. System in IDLE = 195W
2. System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 489W
3. Difference (GPU load) = 294W
4. Add average IDLE wattage ~ 37W
5. Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 331 Watts

I really do not wish to constantly have a stupid debate, but what I do want is the OP to try finding the specific problem by running benchmarks and figuring out what is causing the issues or bring it into a certified professional to do it for them.

Correction.   Intel embeds it's graphics architecture within the processor itself and does not in fact make cards.  Secondly ATI makes Radeon graphics cards, AMD owns ATI but ATI is a completely seperate company.  Please go educate yourself, thanks.

I really hope they DO NOT let anyone non guilded on to servers setup for guilds till after the 20th. I really dont need a laggy server and newbs asking questions in chat all day, esp when guilds as a whole will be trying to level up together to act as a guild.

I do agree however that its a little late to be naming the servers guilds are to be playing on. It's a waste of time sitting around till i get that email or info on vent from the guild, where we are to be playing. I've all ready got a group mate setup to level with.

LOL @ someone who has no idea. Arcane mage does most damage with ONE spell but you have to understand and time CDs, understand mechanics and decide when to burn and when to converse mana.

Sure you can just smash buttons and put out some damage. To max dps, you have to know what you are doing. Read elitistjerks if you want to know how to do it properly.

Thank you for confirming my point that WoW is so simplified that ONE spell is all an arcane mage needs to dps in raids.

This is what i was complaining about to my brother in law as he asked me to play WoW with him. Coming from healing and tanking in SWToR, i was bored hitting the same button over and over again. I was talking about having watched a video on youtube and seeing a mage do 23k dps. hitting 2 buttons. my 9 year old nephew has leveled his mage from 1 to 71 by himself,  mashing the same 2-3 buttons.

The best part, just before i clicked on this thread, there was another thread for SWToR asking if there were to many abilities. I had to laugh to myself. Apparently that person never once played any other MMO but WoW.

when i played my IA up to 14, the snipe kill was just a spell/skill. there wasnt anything special about it except the amount of dmg it did. ambush was an upgraded version of it, if i remember correctly. my assassin had an ambush as well. so i might be confused on the better sniper name.

Edit: oops forgot, no the range isnt all that far. 30 or 40 meters.

Then I realized that the thread was about whether or not you like SW:ToR (whether you played it or not) and then using that opinion to bash or praise the reviewer. Anything, up to and including paranoid conspiracy theories and dyed eyebrows is a legitimate justification for whatever opinion you've got. Just so long as you don't come out and say, "I like/don't like SW:ToR and I have/have not played it!"

I didnt have to install or sign up in Origin at all to play this weekend.

As Mike B said in another thread, EoN is a second party project but, it's also a FTP project. Defiance doesn't appear to be that way.

 

 

I'm not sure there is going to be enough revenue generated from a FTP game like EoN in the RTS sector to be significant.

 

So either way, Trion is still putting resources/cash towards the bill for at least two projects here, even if it is partial on one. Not that any of that really matters in the long run because as the analyst said, Trion has to have ALL of it's projects be hits, not just one (Rift) or two (Defiance) to be a successful IPO candidate.

 

That means it's Red Door publishing platform and EoN as well. ALL of it, not just some of it.

EoN will also have a subscription, it's in the FAQs. It doesnt offer more then the regular F2P model, just says they give you free convience items every month. It will be interesting to see if it's worth the script or easier to just buy the convience items alone.

Off topic: For one I hope there are different skins for the factions, a way to set ones self apart from the hordes of other players. 50 player armies on a map running the same colored vehicles and troops would make my eyes go buggy.

I'de just like to point out that Trion isnt making end of nations, it is the publisher for end of nations. Petroglyph is the maker of end of nations.

how much money Trion is actually putting in as a publisher is all a guessing game.

I've seen 1 game that looked so close to wow that i could call it a wow clone. i believe it was some f2p game. it had the same basic characters that looked like wow, the same artwork, the exact same ui.

i have never seen any other game that would be considered a wow clone. that is the reason i asked a very simple question, what is a wow clone? if you cant answer that, then you are using made up words to describe an opinion.

If you are having issues with this, i'de suggest you disconnect your PC from the internet as fast as you can! Brute force password guessing is done on a daily basis for a lot of wannabe hackers. It one of the easier ways to get user name/passwords for games, emails, system accounts.

I think playing the Rogue class with ranger and marksman souls would do you good, they have nice survivability. But then again any class with a tanking pet does well. mage class with necro or elemental pets that tank do well. But in my honest opinion ranger/marks does the best for me.
