3K is the average for ALL servers included. So 2K is a laugh. (source: warcraftrealms.com). Including the lower ones.

So on operational mode it would be around 4K-4.5 full with a locked out somewhere near 4.5K I guess

Also BE aware ALL Realm based fantasy mmorpg's have around the same SQL capacity.

It is ALL based on the same hardware/(MY) SQL technology btw - server wise.

And yes while some companies say they can hold 7 K or more players, that's max stressed out and  NON operational status.

Unless you want to MOVE in your world ... no operator will allow more than 5K ever on their (My°)sql servers at the same time.

BTW Both WOW and Lotro realm servers were upgraded in the summer of 2008 with the latest SQL technology.

you are lying, wow servers can only hold 10 players..my goldfish checked it on xfire so its true, although he has only a 3 second memory span so i guess thats why he plays wow.

I predict a rise in chuck norris jokes across all wow severs in the next few days...going by xfire stats and this chart my dog made proves this fact.

The only thing I've read so far is a moderate increase in quest experience.  As it stands, quest rewarded experience past a certain level isn't worth bothering with.  You'll end up losing experience because of the time it takes to travel to and from quest objectives when compared to pure grinding.  It might put questing back on people's radars, but I wouldn't call it a major overhaul.

would you be happy if ncsoft just gave you a level 50 character? maybe then you would stop whining..baby will cry till baby gets fed.

I am quite sure that will not happen, because players are ... players.

And we are talking video games here.

Of course you can always blame the players. A traditional tric when something doesn't happen in a game.

If WoW was so good and you were happy playing WoW and you are deeply in love with WoW and you could make babies with WoW, it begs the question why are you posting on the Aion forums so much? ;)))

Because I simply point out that massive PvP Zerg fests is NOT the way to do a PvP based game these days.

Today's standards are the many different ... options of playing styles.

Zorndorf you speak for yourself and no one else.

Anyway I'm done, I could rip WoW apart head to toe before someone goes the fail route and brings up subscription numbers and that's no fun. Because we all know how much popularity equals quality

Just to make a point...  the "fail route" would be to bring up subscription numbers to debunk your opinion.  Because popularity doesn't equate to quality.

Yet one can just as easily say the "fail route" is to mention popularity versus quality to claim your opinion is correct.

MMO developers care about one thing.. profit.  They don't care if you like their game or not, they are there to make money.  Which is why popularity is all that matters... why?  Simply because... guess who is making the most profit?

Is it WoW.. or DAoC or EvE... or any other example you want to bring in here.  That is developer point of view versus player point of view.  Which is why we see the same game being made over and over and over (basicly).

I don't play WoW... never liked any Blizzard game (personal opinion).  However, this logic path you chose to apply here... just seems a tad off.

Not Really I can go feature for feature and prove how average WoW is (I may one day if I feel like being banned) and not one person could fight me on it with the exception of saying something about its sub numbers.

WoW is a jack of all trades game with average features, it appeals to many people which is why it has the subs it has but to a player like myself that wants more from his MMO those Average feautures drive me insane.

Think about it, If your a hardcore PvEer WoW isn't for you due to its nerfing of raid difficulty and bastardation of pve Crowd control and roles, If your a crafter WoW isn't for you because anyone thats been maxx level for a week doesn't need your shit anymore unless you make consumables and if your a hardcore pvper with no World pvp, no alliance mechanics, no territory control and no risk at all WoW isn't for you.

So who is WoW for? I know... the people that don't play MMOs and this is why WoW has the numbers it has.

Want proof? Ask around your server if anyone likes mmorpgs, you will mostly get two answers. "Whats a Mmorpg?" "No I play WoW".

Exactly wow is played by people who dont play mmo's. They're not mmorpg fans, they're wow fans.

Its not the zergs that are the problem, its the retards playing the game. They need hand holding for everything, im starting to think we should put these people in a real life instance so we can be done with them.

Not the kind of attitude I would want from a game developer.

Not to mention, he sure was optimistic about the state of the game while taking the pre-orders and collecting peoples cash.

What happened to him saying, "Most of the features are complete, and during the beta we are testing them one at a time, thus the reason for little content all at once, during beta."

I had a feeling he was full of shit then. It's funny how many forum posters argued in Matt's defense, that the game is done, and there is no need to be concerned.

Everyday that passes, more people get refunds from thier credit card companies, and this game bleeds out a few more potential customers. I do not think this game is going to have a very active population shortly after launch, with them releasing a game in beta state, and charging more then any MMO ever released.

If it's anywhere close to its current state when it launches, It will be plain boring for the masses. All I can say without breaking the NDA.

i think you should stick to wow then, people complain that all mmos use the same mechanic over and over again, for once get behind someone who's trying something different. Of course the game is not finished because its not a pre-defined world like regular mmo's, its unpredictable and they cant foresee all the possibilities.

The problem with lotro is that you can only play as the good guy.

Im sure the babies will cry about not being given the number one pvp title. "Its so unfair that billy can have that title and i cant, i know what i'll do i will whine and cry until someone listens"

i really wish they would split the genre so i dont have to play with these morons anymore..

The next patch is suppose to greatly increase the xp given by quest for you babies that want to be spoon feed. We are talking about quest that once gave 17k giving 700k.  That way when you get to 50 in 2 weeks youll have something new to cry about...no end game content....cause most new games put end game stuff later.....the cry baby generation of mmos will never be happy...they are worst than spammers in game...you just dont stop ....you go wha wha wha all day long for every game released.

Indeed, the babies are crying once again. if they cant have it right now they cry until they get their way.

A few years ago, a highlander mmorpg was in production but was canceled

http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/highlander-the-gathering/

Anyways, I think still think the ip has potential and is the ultimate setting for a mmorpg

Here are my reasons for the franchise making a great mmo

-Experience is very explainable. You become more powerful as you slay other immortals due to quickenings

-No need to be ressurected upon death or some other wonky system, since your character would be immortal. One would simply retreat to holy ground.

-Pvp could be handleded very uniquely, one could have arena style combat or some other challenge to prove youre worth among other immortals.

-The soundtrack could potentially be the best any mmorpg has ever known

-instances could be handeled through flashbacks (ie, while the game is set in modern day an instance could be set in ww1 or any period in time

Issues with the franchise

-Most immortals don't wear armor around town, so a gear system could be difficult to creat. Also, due to the time differences in the series, items would not translate very well

-the highlander sequals are sketchy and conflict with each other and the tv series and finding a suitable time to set it in could be a challenge

-Chances are you would not be aloud to be beheaded (ie perma death) due to obvious reasons in mmorpgs

That sounds terrible, it has to be perma-death or it just wont work.

Yeah, its not about age its the maturity of the person, but that being said i dont want to play mmo's with 15 year old. so the OP's question still has some validity.

well at least the slow leveling will filter out the wow babies, for that i am thankful. Whats with the rush to 50 anyway.

Man, some people will just bitch for the sake of bitching.

And then there are self righteous assholes who like to point the finger at everyone, your signature and avatar sum you right up.

Good, we might start to see less chuck norris jokes once the 30 days are up.

The problem is the majority of wow players are not mmo fans, they are wow fans...they want every other game to fail so wow can stay at the top, they bash every new game thats being released like fanatical lunatics., just read what that guy zorndorf posts and you will know exactly what i mean.

people who play wow are not mmo fans they are wow fans. Thats the difference.

i just cant bring myself to give money to Sony online ever again.

Zorndorf playing the conspiracy card to try to justify the Aion numbers on Xfire?

The only fact we know is that Aion had close to 400k PREORDERS, anything beyond that is speculation.

The claims in this thread are so funny.

Easy to counter: EVE has a confirmed 300 K subscription base.

According to present day XFire: there are 3.5 MORE Aion players than EVE players. The same ratio we can see with such established other games as wow and lotro.

While the ratios fit between other mmo's and not with Aion it is clear that Xfire has an error sampling rate of over more than 100% vs other games.

.Oh btw: servers numbers in Korea were 41/43 servers for 400K players and 113 Chinese servers for 1M players. In combined NA/EU they have ... 32 servers. Which clearly shows the lack of servers to support the numbers Xfire shows.

Only the gold sellers promoting the game by logging in through Xfire could be a reasonable explantion. 5K Xfire players would suffice to have the error rate shown.

Seriously did Aion steal your girlfriend or something, get over it man. if wow is so much better like you claim it is, why are you even wasting your time talking about Aion.
