I was going to buy the game now that it no longer has a sub, but I would like to test it first. Thank you in advance :) m.machaj89[at]gmail.com |

Because no game is to be taken seriously, it's entertainment, not a thought provoking change your life experience, and it's meant to be cheesy just as most comics are. Cell shading yes was horrible but fortunately you can turn it off, you obvisouly didn't find that option, I found the graphics after that setting to be far superior to CoH and other MMO's I have played lately, plus the huge amount of customisation was amazing, once you started to tinker with the system is suddenly opened up to a infinite amount of characters, I believe it's far better than CoH's as I was able to create characters that I couldn't before. Well the combat system isnt anything to write home about but then again I haven't played any MMO lately that has ground breaking exciting combat, but the quests where on the same lvl as you'd expect to find in games such as WoW/EQ and other PvE MMO's so again nothing special there, then again there hasn't been anything ground breaking in that area either for years. F2P though hmm I wish it was, I also wish WoW and all the others where F2P aswell as they should be, would make for a more interesting MMO market place if they all had microtransactions to create revenue by.
Ofcourse no game has to be taken seriously. If you look at WoW which has one of the best lores in video game industry, it has quests with references to pop culture, music, movies and so on. But those are just references. Little cheries on top of a huge strawbery cake. In CO however the entire lore is a one huge parody. It's uninteresting, uninspired and filled with clishees. Even City of Heroes had a fairly interesting story witch made the game a lot more interesting and fun to play. And yes I didn't know you could switch off the cell shading. If I knew I would have done it right away. But since the game didn't apeal to me on so many other levels I won't be trying it out anymore. I hope for all of you who bought and enjoy the game that it will lead a long and happy full server life. |

I was extreamly thrilled when I was invited to closed beta and dear god was I disappointed. Everything about this game made me angry. The character creation was a huge letdown (costume parts were taken right out of CoH!!) and the graphics just plain ugly. The cell shading is a joke, I've seen it done better in a Nintendo DS game. And the lore. My god when I did the first instance (the one you do at the end of the tutorial area) and I heard "Black Talon is an ally of DOCTOR DESTROYER" I burst out laughing. How can I take a game seriously when it doesn't take it itself? The combat system was boring, quests uninspired AND boring and the whole game seamed more like something you'd expect from a F2P game. Well, maby not THAT bad. But close... |

Is the new Warcraft expansion Blizzard way of admitting they ve made a mess of the game ?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/24/09 10:29:18 AM
They don't have to admit that they screwd up the old continents. This is one of the main reasons I left and didn't buy the second x-pac. But now that they are reworking basicly the whole game I might look into it again. WoW is the only MMO right now that I can think of that is actualy worth the subscription. Great polished game with a huge fanbase and constant updates. The fact that they are redoing it so that it's on the same level as the newly added areas only makes it more atractive. |

Guild Wars: Guild Wars 2 Debut Trailer!
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 8/20/09 7:15:44 PM
I loved the trailer, made me 100 times more excited for the game. I hope it is just as unique as the first GW and that the devs weren't too influenced by popular MMOs like WoW or all the after-WoW clones. The environements look absolutely stunning. Just like in first GW it looks like a painting broguht to life. Some serious talent working at Arenanet. The only issue that I have is the character design which is waaaaaaay to anime-ish. That warrior looked, and no dissrespect to the homosexuals, gay. Bring back the warriors from first GW!!! |

If Champions replaces this as the main superhero MMO, I think I know one reason why
Paragon City Hall (General) « City of Heroes 8/19/09 4:45:39 PM
I realy wouldn't hold my breath for champions. It is very medicore and even though I was excited for the game I got realy bored after half an hour maby even less. This game dissapoints on so many levels it's quite frankly the oposite of fun. But hay, thats just my opinion. |

You know that guy who wrote GW2 would be a Wow Killer and stuff? While I couldn`t care less it did give me a thought. I mean WHY would Arenanet release info on their biggest game exacly THIS weak and steal the spotlight from another ncSoft game Aion which is comming out much sooner? Theory? What other big announcements will there be this weak? Friday and saturday to be exact. Blizzcon anyone? Could it be that Arenanet wants to steal the spotlight not from Aion but another popular MMO title? Is it a mere coincidance that they decided to present this very anticipated game exacly this weak while Blizzard will be showing off their games? And what do the Illuminati have to do with this??? I smell a conspiracy.... |

I was looking for some info on GW2 recently but couldn't find anything other then the FAQ on their official web page. I think there should be some announcements some time after Aion is released. It would be stupid for ncSoft to make major announcements now and steal the spotlight from a game that is just about to be released. At least thats what I think. |

To be honest, I realy don't like the idea. It just doesn't sound right to combine 2 different games in such a way. EVE is about space combat, big fleets fighting in space and that's where the focus should stay. If the aliances will have to get people who play other game to take over planets for them then it makes the main game incomplete somehow. Then again if you ask me it will probably never happen. Just like 3d avatars and walking on ships which was promissed a long time ago. (another idea that I personaly find very stupid.) |

Aion: NCsoft: Aion Will be Second Only to WoW
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 8/13/09 5:55:24 PM
I don't think it will get anywhere near WoWs numbers. It is no secret that WoW is a very mainstream game which is played by people who weren't into MMOs before. It is based on a famous franchise, has the Blizzard logo on it and has a very neutral look (even if a little cartooney) which isn't offputting for the mainstream player. Aion on other hand is strictly Anime with happy angels and japanese faces. I can tell right now that many averege 14 - 16 year olds will look at the box and go "baah this looks gay". Also, if Warhammer Online couldn't do it, a game which is very well done and in many ways is better then WoW (at least in my opinion) and has a look which aims for the "hardcore gamer", I highly doubt Aion will do any better.
Right, those are my predictions. |

What looks better to you so far. DC Universe or Champion Online
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/28/09 7:07:24 AM
I say Champions. First, because I don't like the idea that DC is trying to go Marvel on it's superheroes and put them all into one "universe". I know they've done it before, but in my opinion it's just retarded. Second, because I've seen gameplay footage of DC (hasn't everyone?) and I realy don't like the animations nor the combat system. I hope champions will be better. |

I would say WoW, simply because out of all MMO's that I tried (excluding my first one) this was the only one that hooked me up for almost 2 years. It has great PVE content, Balanced PVP that is both skill and gear based* And a huge comunity that you can play with. You can both solo and party, both being fun to do (although if you solo all the time it might get a little tedious). Great itemisation, cool classes, beautifull world which is full of things to do, nicely done crafting system... Basicaly, Blizzard polished the shit out of their game and it shows. I haven't played EQ2 much, only the trial. From what I hear it's supposed to be realy good, I personaly thought it was fairly averege. Then again I only saw the separated trial-area so I can't make a real review of the game. But I can say this: the character models were ugly as hell. But in the end it's realy up to you. The games are actualy quite similar in many ways. If I were you I would check out the lore behind the games and see which world I would prefere to quest in. Or what races/classes they offer. Just go with what you think would be more cool. peace! Vee
* Yes! I said it! The classes ARE balanced (especialy compared to other MMO's). The PVP IS skill based! You have to know the strenghts and weakneses of your class and build to be succesfull in WoW PVP. And ofcourse the gear matters. It's a roleplaying game! You get magical items to get stronger! What would be the point of getting realy good armour if it wouldn't make a difference? If you want PVP that is ENTIRELY skill based then go play Counter Strike. |

Maybe when it arrives, I'll make a guy on Bahamut or something. Sure mate I would love that. My name is also VeeZarD in the game. If you ever have the time you can mail me through PlayOnline or something. See you in game =) BTW the game works fine with my gamepad now! Woohoo! Now to figure out the game mechanics... |

Hi, I just recently bought the game for the first time. Currently I'm at the stage of figuring out the controlls and how to make the game work with my PC Gamepad :P I have no idea how the combat system works, or the crafting system, or the quest system, or any other system for that matter. My plan is to lv solo as far as I can, read some faqs on the net, eventualy join a guild or at least make SOME friends to help me out further in the game. I hope that motivated you to stop bitchin and start playin ;) Btw any help would be greatly apreciated. I'm still level 1 so a remake is not a problem. Right now I'm on Bahamut because I heard it has many players. And I want there to be many players. |

Thank you again for these information. I think I now have everything. Time to check this thing out. But seriously this service is not what you would expect from a MMO. Very complicated for something that should be very clear. PlayOnline should learn from NCsoft or Blizzard. Again, I hope the game is worth the effort. |

Thanks guys, these information sound a little disturbing. But I'm going to try it anyway, at least the first free 30 days. After all, if the game sux I'm not going to play it anyway. One more thing I wanted to ask though: About the game versions - US, European and Japanese. Do all of these play on same servers (like I've read somewhere) or do they have separate worlds for each region? Because I'm afraid that the european version (which I have) won't have enough players to play with (like the european City of Heroes...) |
