theres also the fact that most mmos sometimes have a few remaining kinks to be ironed out after launch, open beta or not i always keep the mindset that an mmo wont be picture perfect right at launch. Though depending i am usually willing to pick one up on or shortly after launch as i am going in expecting such things i wont be all immature and complain lol. ill be curious to see what sorts of updates they'll work into CO |

ugh, i was gonna suggest the open beta, but that just ended for the most part :/ best bet is to hope that they release a free trial or look around for a buddy key somehow. i like the power types and the customization as well as the travel powers here vs what CoH/Villians offered. but i was sort of hoping for some Darkness themed melee. not happening so much here lol, im an mmo addict but i may have to hold off on CO for a month or two and watch. just to be safe. id say if you come across a way try and sample the game though, its not really bad by ne means. |

could use some input from the open beta players here, i just tried logging on after finishing up the download and patch and it says something about closed beta servers? needless to say i cant play lol. i figured id ask here since i keep a tab of my browser open to mmorpg err nvm, seems back up and i am at the char creation now, my mistake lol |

sounds quite appealing . ive been stoppin by the home page reading up periodically on info and such for this game, the whole post apocolytic thing it has going is appealing. i blame fallout 3 LOL. the setting makes for a neat twist to the mmo genre and ive got the open beta Dlin now to try. be curious to see how this along with some of the other new mmos this season fair in the long run |

good Q, im also curious lol, first thing i checked when i just woke up a moment ago. sooner unlocked, sooner i can get the final setup going |

ahaha got ya, yea that flipped me out, i subbed on like the 29th or 30th of a month w/o thinking much on it, was just like WTF do it! and then yea ok now i know what ur talking about lol, that part sucks, but eh, i still love the game though. but yes, EQ2 does have 2 of such classes. now go try them now ^ ^ |
|
|
eh what payment setup? i havent subbed my account to active in quite some time, for the first time into the mmo market square did solid. and that games still goin strong lol, id be back if i had a bit more to work with for char creation(woot FF14) back to EQ2, if u havent yet, do the trial for EQ2. u can sample stuff hands on for urself. providing u dont mind the alignment of either "good" or "evil" lol, theres the monk class(good) and bruiser(evil) . i personally lean more towards bruisers for my playstyle vs EQ'2s monks. to each their own. but i know i had fun playin even a low lvl bruiser around 14ish. . and as far as the games alignment goes. if u do ne kind of RP u can just make things work however u want lol, so yea, id say give EQ2 a go. if u get into the class then as far as the game goes, its got ALOT to do at all times. and is very stable and pretty well polished. |
|
|
having not read the entire thread, i cant be sure, but based off the title first thing that comes to my mind is EQ's bruiser. just bad@ss for hand2hand in that game lol. and of course FFXI's monks with quite possible the most fun 2hr class ability in that game. Vanguards got monks and disciples. |

look into the forums , but from personal experience, i play on seradon.(when my account is active) and that server i always saw ongoing chatter through the general/region chats. in the few towns ive been in, i always saw someone runnin around. etc. sure, it may not have the booming population of some, but thats fine, theres people out there, u can tell, u just wont be tripping over them lol. some complained in the case of vanguards HUGE world that it felt under populated, that world is what drew my interest into vanguard to begin with, i love the huge seamless world where everything in the distance i see, i can go to that spot if i desire to. havin a huge world to adventure in adds a lil bit to immersion. so really. population on seradon is solid. theres always people there doing something. maybe (if ur willing to pay for it) get the station access pass for SOE. that way u can play them both :D with boosted char slots and some other goodies for EQ2 lol. |

ah with this and the poster above them i did forget to mention, since i was defending the isle of dawns quality. EQ2 has got to be one of the most polished mmos out there right now, this is no lie lol, there is TONS to do like they said above, both are good games in the own rate. u may just need to do ur deciding by coin toss lol, def good things for the PvE gamer in both, maximum game polish leans in EQ'2s favor though. but i like em both |

hmm tough call, despite ne thing ne one says about either, especially vanguard, i like them both for various reasons. if u can do the trials for both, id do that unless by this point u have already. as to the trial area of vanguard, ooh, ooh theres a few.. flaws with that area. i ran several toons through it so i knwo.. unless they've vanished, not ne thing harsh really, minor things that with effort can b taken care of outside the isle, otherwise the trial area in vanguard on that isle(isle of dawn) does a great job introducing new players to alot if not all that vanguard as to offer, access to lvl all 3 spheres to lvl 10, along with gear for each sphere(crafting, diplomacy, adventuring) all of which is great starter gear once u get off the isle to the main game, it has a dungeon at the end of the adventuring sphere of lvl quests that does a good job providing players a sample of dungeons in vanguard. u can rent and sample flying mounts right there on the isle as well, special mobs that spawn with rare drops if u have the patience as well, it was a well done trial area in my opinion |

dc vs champs.. have you decide yet?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/12/09 3:17:19 AM
i will be tryin both, ive always got champions pre ordered. the customization itself is epic enough to draw me in for a month of dabbling and creating, makin an idea character pulling from virtually every powerset in the game? hell yea ill try some of that. but i wont knock either CO or DC, ill try them both out fairly before judging either, when it comes to mmos , or ne game really, i prefer to save final judgement for myself. but both look decent just from what bits ive seen so far, once both have been released and had the initial postlaunch bug patch fixes that almost if not all mmos go through we'll see how they both stand. |

well i dont think its the specific store locations that are jacking u around with the keys. i worked for gamestop for a period of time. if ne thing, if they dont have the keys and whatnot in store its cause of issues elsewhere, missed shipement. like one time we were supposed to have had gears of war or one of those hyped games at launch date, but lot of annoyed crazed gamers who probably never leave their homes because ups apparently drove off an left the stock of games at the loading area. stupid ups. really though i wouldnt be surprised if its an issue outside of the control of the actual store itself. granted some have some stupid people working there, but not all. i have 2 locations i do most of my business with. one has a few mmo fiends like myself. if they dont have the key when u ask them about it, its not cause they didnt feel like giving it out, or arent paying attention. they work the store, but they cant do much if they dont receive things in shipments . |

throw down a reserve at a local retailer or pre order online through like gamestop and im pretty sure ull get a key or whatnot into beta stuff coming up here in a few weeks |

'Game-changing' microtransactions confirmed
General Discussion « Champions Online 7/31/09 5:03:18 PM
hm, while i dont like buying items in game with real money outside of cosmetic features, or in a game like EQ2 and buying housing stuffs. i wont completely rule out tryin CO because of the in game micro transactions that people are talking about, so long as i can enjoy my gameplay experience. ill be content. im tryin this game for at least the first month. i dont group often in mmos, but can normally still find alot to entertain myself with. if CO happens tohave in game items with stats that "change the game" oh well, i wont need them to enjoy myself. |
