About to resub my account, Q regarding the upcoming expansion+Freeblood
The Tavern (General) « Everquest II 2/07/11 10:20:41 AM
I was prepared to pay for the visual and accessory stuff off the marketplace already. Luckily its tax refund time. The race is much more fitting for my own personal character lore so we'll see. At the very least the accesory pack on the marketplace isnt going anywhere. I can grab one of my under used toons, and re roll it to check out the race visually for myself before I just up and start grabbing the accessory pack on multiple toons |

About to resub my account, Q regarding the upcoming expansion+Freeblood
The Tavern (General) « Everquest II 2/06/11 8:41:56 PM
Well, for the most part I strongly suspect I know the answer already, but figured Id check just to verify.
Sadly i wasnt able to bring up my account back in december or january so i missed out on those winter rewards. Everything Ive found while searching leads to my assumption that at this state if I'm interested in rolling a Freeblood or 2 I have no other choice but to go the marketplace route do I?
I dont mind using station cash for things I simply wanted to verify that I didnt overlook anything regarding the race and the upcoming expansion( Wishes they wouldve brought the race free w/expansion ) . Since i had debating converting 2 or 4 of my toons over, between unlocking the race and grabbing the accessory pack on each, thats a weee bit of SC I'll have to fork over.
Ah well. Either way I'll make due. Simply checking around one last time. Thanks all. |

I've subbed PoTBS a few times off and on when the mood struck me, i did quite enjoy the naval combat and i personally felt the graphics during the naval battle and sound effects were quite enjoyable and very fitting(sound wise) . When i heard it was going to free2play i was happy to hear the news. I'll for sure be getting my account updated and see if the guild i was with last time i played was still around. It was a solid game to me at least. |

News Discussion « General Discussion 9/01/10 10:30:17 PM
THey are easily getting slammed hardcore with hits lol, im not to bummed, i have a copy reserved and ill easily get my free months worth minimum if not more. i can wait a few days or weeks to hop in. my main interest really is just gettin a first hand feel, and maybe reserving char names. but with hopefully plenty of server choices and the fact im still in 8days ahead of standard release im fairly confident i can get my name locked in place. heres hoping it goes up soon though, im still way anxious to check it out haha |

New cpu is now in. benchmark on hi res setting now rates at 2458. so i did in fact get a boost from the cpu. So thats a relief, one small step down. Gotta start somewhere after all |

I had been looking at a couple of 5850's , then a friend of mine suggested i look at the nvidia GTX 460's as another option as well. so ill be doing a little homework off and on between now and then. |

Ram is on the end of my upgrade list so no worries, id rather look into a new gpu for sure.
At the least ill look forward to seeing how my system performs with that new cpu now as well as how it runs FF14 when it launches, i can figure out the gpu upgrade then. |

Everything about that cpu sounded like it would be worth the cost. ill be testing out the benchmark for sure once i get that new one in there. Its already shipped so i easily expect it to arrive within the week. Cant wait. |

First step completed. Placed an order this morning for a new cpu. Being that i wanted to limit the amount id have to upgrade being that ive been long unemployed for a spell i wanted to avoid a mobo replacement on top of cpu and gpu. i managed to find what looks to be a very solid cpu for the price and supported by my motherboard. i will be running a fresh benchmark test once its arrived and installed.

How exactly will the class system work?

Aw, poll only lets us pick one, i cast my vote for several, because i am one of the types that likes to take the time gathering all my resources, then crafting alot of my own gear. so perhaps, a bit of all of the above ^^ |

Originally posted by mrcalhou Undestandable, im really not so much looking to jump the gun as really just getting the view of current players that may be in the beta as well as other gamers in general familliar with performance of certain gpus, etc. Being that i dont really have normal income right now jumping the gun to buy parts may not be the wisest thing. Which is why i browse around newegg, and wishlist potential parts. I am guilty somewhat of considering a bit of an upgrade specifically for FF14, but thats because i have high hopes of its potential and already love what ive seen of it so far.. Plus ive noticed i tend to come around wanting a bit of an upgrade every couple of years or so which seems to be the same timeframe as FF14's launch haha.
I know with what i plan on being willing to spend for upgrades i wont have 'lag free' gameplay but thats fine, besides its an mmo, just because a system can run other high end graphic intensive games with no lag its a bit different when u consider mmos arent single player games.. at least thats my uneduacated view. either way, getting assorted input like this does help get ideas of what types of things to consider for upgrades |

Looking for advice on possible system upgrades to run FF14
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 7/25/10 4:21:33 PM
Being that my mobo wont go past 95w cpus chances are for anything better i will need a new mobo to even consider a new cpu. With cpus would a triple core one be sufficient? im not looking for like insane cpu performance here or ne thing and i build my rigs to last but usually off a bit of a budget, thus ill also go for another amd cpu. Ive had 0 cpu trouble out of my last 2 rigs that used amd so im pretty content there. i am considering 5850 though i imagine id enjoy it quite a bit if i got one. im still just lightly browsing and wishlisting a few parts. tempted to try to get some of them before FF14 launches, or at least set the money aside.. choices choices. appreciate the input thus far though everyone, thank u all |

General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 7/24/10 9:42:32 AM
I had thought i had read somewhere that the benchmark was a bit.. strict lol so i figured id ask around here and get word from some players. Ive found one or two 5850's that ive wishlisted through newegg as well as a triple core and quad core cpu, but i chose those based off wha tmy current MOBO could handle, which is only up to 95w cpus. I was mainly looking for minimal upgrade required atm unless i have no choice. my psu should be good for a bit as its a pretty solid 750w psu.
May be a good idea to see how it goes at launch and try to plan an upgrade from there. Being unemployed its a bit challenging setting $ aside for part ugprades but maybe ill do that so when it launhes i can test, then if i feel i want a boost i wont have to wait to long. Will be a shame if i cant take advantage of my pre order time lol |

Looking for advice on possible system upgrades to run FF14
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 7/24/10 1:16:13 AM
SO ive checked out the benchmark and have the score from that as was run on high res settings. So i am hoping to maybe get some advice from others currently perhaps in beta to get an idea on what ill need to do to gain smooth gameplay, i dont need to max settings etc obviously just looking to where i can have an enjoyable experience without having to really down to many settings. on high res settings on the benchmark my machine only scored around 1952, when i look at the list on the official page with the benchmark scores i was rather depressed, going just by that i wont really be doign to well come launch as it stands. My system has a 4890 ati card, 4gigs of ram, win7 64 bit, an AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition Kuma 2.8GHz for a cpu. I have price checked a couple of 5850's i liked the looks of and may consider picking up as a gpu upgrade. |
