Hmm, well i honestly starting getting a mild "Fallen Earth" feel from skimming a few screenshots and such of the game. maybe its the post apocalyptic theme and something in the back of the art design on character models. But my opinion is purely just someting i randomly got and im not basing it on ne sort of hard facts what so ever. I personally enjoyed alot about Fallen Earth myself and some of the features they have within the game and that the devs seem to work with and listen to player feedback alot, plus the GM's always being in game and friendly is a plus. So if by chance this magically new game that many seemed to have never heard about is borrowing ideas from Fallen Earth, what can we do lol. It is odd that just up until a moment ago i have seen no mention of this title and its already supposedly shooting to launch in a month? Um, was there ne beta testing? how did they beta test it? Normally players get into closed betas and so forth but if no ones heard of the game... How mysterious.

Read through the games supposed features and they have alot of really nice things in there providing they can follow through and back their words up. I'd be curious how they are going to implement the aging feature. Will there be a generations type system or something different?

I may look into this title more after it launches where i can seem some more about the game but im to cautious to just dive into this one with my eyes closed.. I was considering re subbing FE then i go and get reminded of FE while looking over bits of this game.. lol it must be a sign.

I do however think that indie companys are capable of some great stuff(Mount & Blade) that game was/is amazing for what it is and what they had to work with with funding. So ii may give these guys a shot after it launches

Im good choosin between one of those 2. both should have adequate enough populations to satisfy me. just a matter of which one to start haha

Ive already been asking around a bit on the official forums as im a somewhat new/returning player who originally gave lotro a try around the time when windfola was one of the servers recommended to new players. I decided to take another somewhat longer look around and subbed up for 3months.  Currently I'm debating between stayin with my primary 3 characters on Windfola that i plan to play or perhaps setup on Elendilmir as ive gathered its a somewhat higher pop server. Though i by no means am saying anything bad about Windfola as thus far the responses ive heard on the servers threads are all nice sounding players just as much so as on E . So being as ive gotten good reponses on both ends I've found myself torn on which server to start up on. I came up with the idea of perhaps starting the 3 characters i plan to work on in 1 server now(leaning toward Elendilmir) and perhaps later on if i ever get my gf interested in trying out some mmos with me to remake those 3 to start up with her over on Windfola.

So i thought id get in touch with the lotro playerbase here and setup a little poll to hear from you. Also any added input any of you Windfola or Elendilmir players want to add pls do. Ive gathered quite a bit the last few days the community in game is overall a very great one.

thanx in advance to all of you.

the human race(cant recall name, or is that the one mentioned above) and looking very forward to the improved char. creation as well as being able to do everything through one character, no alts for other jobs. FF14 is THE mmo i am waiting for

I'm subbed to FE right now, and I love it. But, I need a fantasy fix... and since there is nothing at all decent I want to play til FF14... I'm going F2P until then.

Trying Allods, and starting up runes of magic. Saving my money for FF14... who else is hitting up the F2P's right now due to the P2P's not being any better?

Im off and on in FE myself atm.  i was heavily debating up until recently to pick up STO at launch, half because im somewhat of a trek fan and half because i sorta wanted a sci fi fix. With Tabula Rasa being gone there arent alot of options on the market that im aware of right now and EVE is something  i can only tinker with very casually and once/awhile. I havent been able to convince myself to resub any of my more fantasy based accounts either and havent gotten a f2p that held my interest as of yet. Luckily im a heavy console rpg gamer and i have plenty of titles in my stock that hold that fix. Wont be grabbing STO either as again i found some nice console titles to curve that sci fi fix. Im waiting on FF14 as the next big title i choose to invest in. Till then.. i was curious about Allods as well.

well saw the title of the thread, havent read all of it.. but... and i say this as a personal opinion only. Who cares, i personally could care less if an mmo i play has a cash shop of ne kind in it. Even if there are things like XP potions, doesnt mean im going to use them. Ill use those types of things if they are part of some sort of vet reward program sure, but im fine getting by on my own work and progres.

If a game has a cash shop with things beyond simple fluff items and such oh well cause it sure wont ruin my immersion or fun and enjoyment of the game. Especially this title. FFXI was my first real mmo experience and remains to hold a top spot as a favorite even though i couldnt keep playing for various reasons. Cash shop or no, ill be looking forward to this title

I've been telling one of my some what not into sci fi friend about this supposed feature and its one of the things thats making her thing about playing STO :). also a good interview is with Morgan from G4's X play

http://g4tv.com/videos/42667/Star-Trek-Online-MMO-All-Access-Preview/

witch mentions a little bit about the Genesis system.

OOh thats actually the first ive heard about the Genesis system. THAT sounds really appealling.

Was a nice job with the article, and had alot shown that i had been curious about. While highly in depth customization is partially fluff like alot of people its usually a strong point in determining whether ill try a game. Part of playing mmos for me involves being able to design how i would truly want to look in that game and world for the sake of immersion and whatnot. Sounds like i wont have any complaints there with STO. I also noticed through past trailers I've watched they got the sound effects down which adds alot to the trek theme of things. To see how the traits and base archetype options affect the gameplay later though ill be curious on. Just as I'm sure a cruiser has its inherent strengths i dont believe that will hinder it from being able to do other things well enough and I'm hoping for the same with the skills and archetype selection of our captain. Id hoping that even if we say choose a science type archetype that we can still develop strong combat abilities , etc. All in all while its still to early to say for sure as i never let myself get to engrossed into hype of mmos launching that STO is still of interest to me so ill keep my reserve in place. I for sure will try this out for the initial month after purchase.

i hope in from time to time yes. ghost town as it may be in your words i still see players in each port i stop by, still port battles going on each day along with skirmishes, a friendly society that i joined for a bit of social interaction despite being the loner i am always has members on. So from my view population is fine as i never see total and complete silence through the chat channels whenever i log in.

U cant say a game heavily focused on instances is going to bomb out due to instances alone. Guild wars has a very heavily instanced setup yet that game is also still constantly full of players whenever i log in.

I merely pointed out that as far as how the ship combat goes(no where did i mention instancing) that there was something enjoyable in the ship based combat that PotBS had and that based on some of the dev interviews for STO that they were i think(correct me if im wrong someone) using a system similiar to that in STO's ship combat as well. Ive talked to several who enjoyed that combat setup quite a bit on PotBS.

Well, except for for the high amount of players, RealmLords has what you're looking for.

Face of Mankind is working towards being something similar to that.

Magic of the Gods was like that.

In other words, agreed with the above post.

realm lords looks like a pile of crap

lol @ FOM again :|

and lol @ magic of the gods

o_O

Well didnt we have a constructive post o.o

I havent played Darkfall myself, been mildly curious but as im primarily a PvE type i havent taken the plunge yet, that and i prefer having a disc copy lol(minor i know)

FE i have played. u can look around, i believe u can find a link out there for a free trial through escapist. Think its in the official page where u can find the link. Overall it may be worth checking out, but it may not be exactly what ur looking for. At least thats the joy of free trials as it allows you to see the game for yourself which sometimes helps more then just reading reviews and just getting input. U wont find the pvp of darkfall in FE though thats for sure.

hmm. guess i may not have had that constructive a post either -.-

I do wish you the best in finding the answers u seek OP.

This game is Pirates of the Burning Sea in space. Looks like it was made by them as well. They'll have to give a way a ton of stuff because the actual game has nothing going for it other than the IP. Get ready for King of the Tribble PvP just like the awe inspiring pvp CO had.

Pirates actually has a very nicely setup ship battle system in place . people are still actively playing it and enjoying fleet battles during pvp. If they took a similliar approach to the ship based combat in STO i certainly dont call it a bad move so long as its done properly it will make the ship combat enjoyable.

Ive wondered myself. As ive recently starting reading up on darkfall a little, certain aspects of it(size of world, skill based advancement with no limit other then what u choose to work on and what not to) etc. Though im a heavily PvE oriented person. That alone has me wondering about tryin darkfall the most. Though it has sounded like its still possible. Granted to make sure i keep my valuables and such stored away safely etc, that and id prefer to run around in 3rd person more(a minor annoyance)

Do hope they put out a free trial for this game though as id DL it to try.(if they have one then im apparently blind on darkfall pages o.o)

Like some of the others have mentioned, ive slowly started reading up on darkfall within the past week or so, i steered clear of even reading up on it much at first. Some reason some aspects of the game do seem appealing though. Im a big fan of systems that let u make a character truly unique and ur own style, hybrid, can melee and just as effectively use magic or ranged without a restriction to the type of weapons u wish to u. The graphics of the environments look nice to, Hell i play FE here and there and some say its graphics arent that great but i find them good and quite fitting for the theme of the game.

My biggest issue towards looking to into Darkfall though is that im primarily a PvE player. I know that if i become good enough i could still handle attacks by a lone player here or there probably, but i guess im wondering if its even doable for a PvE type player to go ahead and try darkfall with the whole open pvp setup? Since i assume not even towns are really safe spots?(btw i also know well enough to make good use of bank/storage, its rather common sense to me at least lol)

and OP great starter vids you put up there, well done and showed off some basic gameplay well. Im sure those creatures that got u in the last one shall see u again some day then they'll wish they had left u alone

Well I'll probably get the collectors edition for the uniforms and the original style enterprise.  They should have made these regular ingame items though.

also Amazon has nothing special in their CE but do give pre orders a Borg Female Bridge Officer...

that is mildly tempting, ive already pre ordered the CE from gamestop, hmm, may not hurt to grab a regular copy through amazon for the borg though o.O

I loved this statement with reference to the future:

"If there’s a demand, of course more interiors will be added."

And while I get the size vs game 3D capabilities, yea those suckers look HUGE!  Especially since you're only talking a handful of bridge officers.  Guess they thought my naming it the 'social hub' you'd be having ballroom dancing in there.

Also what was with the one tag "Retro Bridge Look",  what retro was he looking at, cuz I couldn't place it.

It is good they put it in,  too bad you won't be able to pilot the ship from that screen as I know a few on the forums had hoped for that.  I'd probably try it once just to see and then would go back to 3rd person view which works better for me.

Game seems to be shaping up OK, moving in the right direction so far.  Got to see if I can do open beta to check it out.

I liked that statement too, i know its very likely there WILL be such demand in the future. I for one am content with a bridge as it is for launch. After it launches and as the usual post launch bug fixing and fine tuning etc, i think its safe to figure some day in the future of STO we will have those extra interiors.

As to the crew personality thing. Ive watched plenty of star trek myself, and i think it'd be a neat future addition if there were limited personalities at the least .  I dont just say this cause i have played Dragon Age and loved the personalities and dialogue in that game, but as a general gamer who is familiar with star trek and the various personalities of the crew that added to the whole experience.

All and all im still looking forward to giving this game a go at launch and hopefully a bit of open beta just to get a feel for it pre launch.

I passed on Aion at launch, had even fallen into the initial hype of reserving CE. found Fallen Earth more enjoyable as the new mmo of the month, i still like Fallen Earth but i will say that i think Aion seemed cool, and still does. That video there was looking great, and a nice lengthy one at that. i remember one of my issues being i couldnt quite decide on a side. I was able to do more of a virtual me avatar in game with skin coloring through Eylos but i wanted the wings of the asmodians lol, sad i know.

thanx for linking that vid though, was looking good and i suppose ill have to make sure to keep tabs on Aion's progress a bit.

Going to be honest, I only read 3 of the 7 pages in this thread thus far.

That being said, and hopefully not said already, I can understand where the OP is coming from. What I think he means to say is that this game is going to be new, and as such it should look better than those MMOs currently on the market. I think this has something to do with the new "popular" cartoonish art style that is going around. Maybe they did research and found out that this style appeals to the intended customer base idk. I agree MMOs have much more to them than just the graphics, but in all honesty I would be hardpressed to say that this game does infact look good. The MMO I myself am looking forward to is FFXIV, which to me, looks plenty better than this Star Trek game. And I can almost guarantee will have a more detailed story. That being said, I'm most likely going to at least try STO, I always give games fair shots. If the game isn't for you it's not for you, but there's someone out there that is going to enjoy it and thats what counts.

I think i agree with the above. Like you i will most likely still be giving this game its first 30 days of time to see how it plays for myself, i dislike not playin ne title based on reviews. Ill see it with my own eyes and experience what it has to offer.

Of course the next mmo im truly lookin forward to is also FFXIV as well, i cant wait! with that said,  STO will be worth a shot to me for a month at least.

and to the above poster, love ur Gil avatar, thats kinda epic lol

wardrop who?

how much did the devs pay you to type this about this fail game anyways?

Fail game? hmm

clearly it is, outside of it hovering in the top set of MMORPG"s list of released games and despite the bad reviews and posts its gotten(just like ne mmo really its going to have some) i hardly find FE a fail game by any means. Care to mention your obviously clearly present arguments as to why this game fails despite the steady rating it seems to have maintained as well as a very steady and solid playerbase(with a very great community )?

Ive played it, plan on bringing my sub back up in a week or so, ive read the good and bad about it. Ive fully seen and understood where all those with bad reviews have had to say or why some just dont like it. Considering it seems to be doing well currently i dont quite see "fail" as accurate though *shrug*

All and all its a game worth trying out for at least 30 days or a short trial , in my opinion.

I played disciple, bard and necro. Disciple is the best solo class hands down. YOu need to rely on fear as a necro which is not an option in dungeons. As disc you just pull anything including bosses, beat the crap out of them and go further withough any downtime.

But I loved all 3 classes. Actually any class in VG is very well made

I agree with the last part of the end statement, from what ive experienced myself in game all the classes of VG are well done and all are very enjoyable to play, at least all that i sampled. I stick by my personal favorites DK, melee ranger(usin minor ranged for sniping) and rogue/warrior.

All in all, great game, enjoy :D

You'll enjoy the community in Vanguard, of course i can always vouch for seradon.

Enjoy ur stay
