I tried FFXI at launch but could not get into it, that and I was skint.

Years later thinking of trying it at, I am bored wth every MMO and tried them all.  I still play LOTRO only with the Wife though.

Was thinking of getting FFXI with all expansions, am I little too late? is it too hard as a casual gamer? will I struggle to find groups?

Or is this a dieing game?

Not played UO for years and I mean years!

Still got my chars though, Treasure hunter, Mage, Warrior etc but so much has changed its scary!

I'm concentrating on my Treasure hunter atm fishing loads for SOS though hardly any come up anymore... Nots ure if its a good way to make money but only way I know atm.

My main question is, I want to go hunt for some good gold as my mage. Whats the best places to farm gold, everyones so rich ingame in the Millions and I just have 5k.. lol

I tried Runescape other day for a laugh... I read about it and thought I;d try it adn laugh at its lego like graphics and how silly it is!

Even now when I play I sometimes feel I'm the oldest player in it (25yrs old) as I constantly see conversation along the lines of....

"What year are you in?"

"I'm year 8 at schoo,"

Let me share a bit of background about me, I'm 25 Years old within the UK. I'm getting married in May and I work within the engineering industry as a Manager for a big department. I enjoy all sort of games, but a must have on the go is a MMO... I must always be playing at least one! I love Boxing and Basketball. I got my wife to be into MMO's and she plays Warhammer and AoC, though she prefers War!

Now... What I don't understand is.. why do I spend and find it more fun and addictive to play a Free to play games that looks like dog shit with cat shit thrown at it with very basic mechanics?

When I pay to play multi-million developed games......

I suppose it's beacuse RS reminds me of my first MMO, UO! Skill based leveling and so much to do! I find it so addictive in RS to go Rune Crafting, Chopping trees and getting my levels up! I can't find anything like it in any MMO of recent?!?!? It feels like a real sand box MMO!

My question is.. Are there any Pay to play games out there with as much freedom and game mechanics out there?

I know there is UO... But it's ruined......

Must be something with the Runescape style of play with more quality!

I think most MMO these days are a big let down to the industry....

Or maybe I'm having a mid life MMO crisis!

What is wrong with me...

I've known about Runescape for years, I even tried it years ago and laughed at it.. though I only gave it about 10 mins worth.

Ive played nealrly every MMo since UO excluding EVE, I currently signed up to AoC and War..... yet I tried Runescape last week for a joke and now I find my self addictved!

I'm having more fun in this free game than multi-million developed games!

I find it really fun and more to do than any MMo ive played since UO!

Its brilliant, not sure what it is about it but IM loving it... may even cancel AoC and War and pay £3.50 a month to play a better game.

I admit it looks like dog poo with cat poo thrown at it, but graphics beyond are nothing.. beyond the graphics is awesome content adn gameplay.

I really do not understand why they concenrated on DX10 so much and players gagging for it when clearly we need more crucial things done.

The graphics already are good enough if not too good for a standard MMO.. Content is what we need and performance tweaks.

Not more graphics to bring more bugs and sluggish performance.

I'm a little stuck what to play.. I'm thnking of returning to UO my first ever MMO.. but i think it's a diffrent game now compared to when i sued to play it.

I'm currently playing Warhammer which is ok, pretty boring after awhile like same old same old.

I also play Age Of Conan which is great, but once you get to 80 not much to do apart from group Raids.. and they are far in between.

What other MMo can I try?

I've tried nearly all of them tbh apart from Eve which I know I wont like.

Are there any unknown gems out there I could try?

I've tried Eq2, Vanguard, COH, Wow, LOTRO, guild wars, SWG, AO etc

My resub was instant.

I just like to add, its awesome because each patch adds so much.

I can re-roll and play the Yimrs pass stuff when 50.. then another big patch is coming in few weeks I can use my level 77 to do all that new content.

So if ur new to game ur got too much to do! And if ur old u go so much to do until another patch.

Then they promised to release little and often, rather than these 3 motnh waiting patches.

Something magic there indeed, one grip I have is the Sieging. I want to be a part of it and do mass pvP (rather than the ganking sessions) but u got to be in a good guild to get some of that action.

I hoping they add some form of towers/keeps or something everyone can get involved in like RvR

Not played for a few months, like to come back with my 76 TOS.. but I need a reason to come back.

Some form of community/guild to play with, level with and actually do stuff with.. Get some fun out the game!

I played AOC from launch, did for months.

Stuck strong through the crap of it, for ages...............loved it but the bugs and no content got to me so I left, been away for a few months and noticed no patch or content been added since the new Yimrs pass or what ever its called with the big giant.

So.... My level 76 TOS.. He was hard to get to 80, no quests to be done that can be soloed, groups are few and betweeen and constan ganked.

Love the pvP but 10 v 1 after an hour gets boring.

I want to come back, give it a whirl... will I enjoy my TOS? Will I hit 80 and will I find anything to do?

What do I do at that level?

Sorry for the title.. Just posting this after a hatrick of lose in Tier 2 Scenario Dwarf land.

I'm so shocked has to how WAR players have the skills or even brain work to install the gam e and create a char..... Cause they really can't read loading screens or anything else whats shoved in their face as to what to do within a scenario.

3 Games in a row Chaos took the item.... and pushed forward so much with the Item carrier on top of hill on their own.........

ALl it tookw as about 3 or so players to go around edge, whack him take it and let it.

But all my days! no............Order decide to just battle it within the swamp with chaos as if it's just a FFA for kill points.

Not 1 order player attempted to go kill the item carrier! Even explaining in retard terms that u try ignore and get around all chaos and just kill the MAN with the LIGHT THRU HIS ARSE!!!!!!!!!!

IN the end I did it all on my own but died withint 5 seconds after picking it up.

Got it last night, Rocks.

Playing last night for a hour I was shocked, People said the graphics were shit.. and they were not kidding!

Everything full whack and graphics were jaggie etc..

Which I don't mind as graphics to me is nothing, I am all gameplay.

But with my ATi 4850 I thought id tinker, went to control panel put 16xaf and 8xaa and went back in game.

Now everything is so smooth and juicy, no kidding.. its fucking awesome graphics

Love the animations and models.
