I have also been anticipating this game since the announcement of it's development. Unfortunately there has not been lots of news and the release date has already been pushed back(and it's not even in beta phase). The new E3 video was satisfying and I have been reviewing their site profusely (english, korean and chinese renditions) for updates or information regarding the opportunity to get a hands-on experience. I have always enjoyed the cartoony/cutesy anime styles over realistic graphics in gaming. Most online games have more of a dark and grim setting to them. I personally think Project Wiki will be a nice addition to the MMORPG market and give users a wider variety to choose from. Let's just hope it makes it far enough for us to get our cute-loving paws on it.

I see it's got mixed response from people, but what can you actually do with your time minus 'role playing'? Are there actually quests and tasks? [if so, lots?], can you increase skills/weapons/items (do you even have weapons/items).

Any information would be welcomed

There is an overview with screenshots located on this site.  Many people have said it to be a very unique online game with a primary focus on tradeskills and engineering rather than combat.  There is currently a free 14 day trial so you can try for yourself without any cost.  I have linked for you a wiki site below with information on how to enroll into the free trial as well as links to download the client from the official site.

I just wanted to post a link to the new media for Project Wiki from Webzen that was presented this year at E3.  I am one that is actually anticipating this game because I feel it will be a unique addition to the MMORPG lineup.  I like realistic looking games and all the dark and saddistic stuff sometimes but the cutesy look of Project Wiki  just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  Enjoy the video!

Okay so maybe this type of game isn't everyone cup of tea (thats my flamer-disclaimer) but it actually cought my eye a while back and I was really interested in checking it out.   I haven't heard anything for almost a year.  I've checked out the web page(korean/chinese/english versions) and no new news.  Has anyone heard anything about this game from other sources or should we expect another 'failure to launch'?

Yes you're right.  I just checked that out as well.  It seems like a very interesting game.  For anyone else who is curious here's the link to the Korean version.  http://archlord.naver.com

(This is actually a real post about a game and not a spam post like the other 10 that were posted today)

I just received a newsletter from Codemasters regarding a new game called 'Archlord'.  Check it out...

"Hi everyone! It's full steam ahead for the folks at Codemasters Online Gaming and there's no stopping us! With two huge MMORPGs about to hit the store shelves another one is in the works!

It's with great pleasure we announce the acquisition of the publishing, distribution, hosting and service provision rights for North America and Europe of a new MMORPG called ArchLord!

ArchLord comes from a pedigree development house and features gorgeous graphics and thrilling game-play. As the name might suggest, the overall objective of the game is to become the ArchLord! That's right! You can fight your way to the top of your game, literally. You can beat off opposition from tens of thousands of other players for the illustrious, extraordinary and unique position of being the game-world's ruler! Imagine your fame or infamy as your name becomes renowned throughout the land as one to be feared. There's a lot of power that comes with the position however, so who will be drawn towards doing good and who will not be able to resist the temptation of tyranny?

That's for you to decide...

The game's slated for a fall release so in the meantime it's time to start discovering who your competitors are and to begin assembling your allies as you might need their help to achieve ultimate domination!

For more information regarding the game, visit our website at

See you there!

Not much at all on the website so far regarding the game but I'm sure there'll be more info soon.  Codemasters is really going to have to impress interested gamers this time around.  Their cancellation of highly anticipated MMORPG, "Dragon Empires" last year was a big blow to some and put a dent in the company's credibility for online gaming.  Anyways, something to keep an eye on!

I think the only thing pathetic about this topic is the people that whine so desperately about it.  Have you ever stopped to think that there actually may be an understandable situation for why some people buy virtual items and currency.  Consider the fact that some online gamers may actually have a very busy schedule in that other place called REAL LIFE.  Some are single, full-time fathers who also work full time and though they have a love for the massively multiplayer online gaming experience, just don't have the time to grind for hours and hours on end the way many online games require gamers to do in order to stay on par.

Luckily there are gamers with a bit more time on their hands to help them suffice their characters for a small fee.  Even for those that do have the time but would rather spend their money just to deck their characters out.  Who are you to judge them?  After all, time is money.  They go hand in hand, so the exchange of the two shouldn't bother any of us.

I use to do it when I played Endless Ages and Ryzom but with most all other MMORPGS I've actually let the game music play most of the time. I liked the music from EQ, FFXI and WoW the most.

I've been playing MMORPGs for about 10 years now.  I can honestly say that I have tried most of them that have been released since then.  There have been many improvements as far as graphics, the size of the worlds etc etc.  But I cannot truthfully claim that the gameplay experience has improved greatly.  They have definately done a good job of creating an illusion for me alot of the time, playing for longer periods without having much fun, waiting for something great to happen.  It just seems like I've seen alot more revolutionary graphical improvements than gameplay.

This is, in my opinion, the worst part.  I love playing with other people, I enjoy the graphics, I like the fighting sometimes and the exploration.  PvP is nice.  But I just can't stand "working/grinding" for what seems like nothing.

How about you all.  Whats your beef with today's MMORPGs???

Glad I could be of service. I figured it was the most appropriate response.

Just a note, you might get more responses (more CIVIL responses) if you posted this question in the World of Warcraft forums located in the 'Released Games' of the Discussion Menu.  Also your question is a bit confusing.  By person do you mean race/class?  If that is what you mean, of course many people are going to tell you to choose what fits your personality best.  If you're undecided or looking for a class that is well rounded you can always choose a Druid or a Shaman.  They are the 'Jack of All Trades' classes of WOW.  Shamans are fairly easier to play than druids as druids has different forms and one must know what forms to use in each different situation.  I'm sure you'll get a hang of it after a while.  Hope this helped!

I'm familiar with Blizzard having a website for their MMORPG with over 5 million subscribers.  I'm more interested in a site with pictures particularly of druids maybe in high-level armor etc.  Also aware it's a jack-of-all-trades class, which is the type of class I'm comfortable with.

Thanks for the response

I've been playing a Tauren Shaman for quite some time now, experiencing some of the high-level content and having lots of fun.  Now I've just recently discovered that a few of my friends have decided to play WoW.  Only they want to be Allys.  No problem, I figure rolling an Ally might be fun.

So I've decided to try a Night Elf druid and I'm wondering if any of you might be able to point me in the direction of some pics that might raise my anticipation a bit.

Thanks!

I played it quite a while ago.  I admit it was a very unique game and quite fun/interesting at first.  Problem was it became difficult to excel without knowing the language.  Unfortunately I had to quit but I would definately be interested in an English version of the game.

Also if you like this style keep your eye out for Wiki.  I've been anticipating it for a while now.

I really don't mean to bash this game or disappoint anyone looking forward to it.  Unless they have made many changes since the game was first released oversees, it's honestly just Lineage 2 with different graphics.  It plays the same way, the grind is the same, the economy is the same as well as the PvP aspect.  Just different race-types, different skills and the graphics are a bit better.

I must admit, it looks really good.  But I've played it and IMHO it wasn't worth testing let alone buying.  They may have made many changes for the US release and it could very well be completely different from what I've experienced.

I guess we can all just hope for the best.
