guys WOW is the king of the hill because is made for EVERYBOBY, even a congresswomen plays it FFS. At first look that is not bad, but the features in the game for mmorpg player that played games like AOC, Ultima Online, EVE Online, Anarchy Online, SWG, are CRAPSTASTIC!!! The game is very polished, copied some of the good features from old mmorpg, made them simple, somewhat better in some cases, filled the game with great pve content in general, and story, and filled it with no consequence for your actions, with incredible stupid pvp, and grind raids and tiers, so they will have your cashy each month for some crappy addon that bassicly does the same. And it does miracles, because it was done very well, polished, and great fuking marketing ala Blizzard. No what u need to ask you what u want? A streamline very well made, polished mmorpg, with 12309823 gazilions of subscribers, and simple features and no risc - rewards as WOW, OR You want a game that moves to next generation, by not copying the others, or wanting to be the next WOW. by trying to move on, by coming with great features on pve and pvp, and with 1-2 mil subscribers world wide, cause after all a good mmorpg will not be good for everybody, because if you make it like WOW, from a mmorpg veteran, and creativity stand point U WILL FAIl, but will milk the cow...for ever...Games like EVE Online, DAOC(in the old days), SWG(old days, Ultima Online and Asherson Call, features that WOW first mmorpg times, woudnt believe they exists, and how nice they were...
MMORPG Industry instead of evolving at the features, in the last 10 years, just evolve in graphics, and dumb down the gameplay, and most of the features started to dissapeared, so they can get cash from any JOE out there, so it all about the cashy. I still hope that WAR will do well, but only time will tell, if not my hope goes to small developer on games like Jumpgate, Spellborn and others, that are not promoted every fuking day, like that craptastic beta AGE OF Conan, that is on every site, every day, and the game suffers badly in reality. MMORPG ? Where Age of Instanced Empty Content and Broken Features. IT ALL ABOUT THE MONEY FOR THEM...

and Hellgate London is a mmorpg? Where?....It because it not that important to the market, eventually maybe it will be listed, or not. They are tons of multiplayer(not massively) online listed on mmorpg, but not savage 2. When i saw Hellgate London listed i laugh my ass off, but hey..is their site. On the other side tons of other decent sites like mmorpg, decided not to listed Hellgate london, because it crapstastic, and it cannot even be called even a Multiplayer RPG..
Navyfield, lobby multiplayer game with chat, decent Sword of the New World - single player game, with others in the same world lol, crazy concept.. some of you knoe it Fury - do i need to continue?
To respect the owners of this great site, after all is the most important mmorpg portal, and has content, so they deserve it. Maybe it wasnt under their standards, because the game doesnt have a lobby, where u walk around with avatar or w/e. But dont come with that shit, that is not a mmorpg. Is not, it is a online rpg games as Navyfield, Hellgate London, Fury, Sword of Instanced Single Player w/e, etc
That pisssed me off lol

you love Arena Net and Cryptic Studios, NC Soft is just the freaking publisher that usualy ruins all, also that crap L2 was made by E&G an korean craptastic studio i believe. NC Soft is just a big dam corporation, EA Wannabe, with no real developers or creativity. |

well it sure has big problems on optimizations, yes the people with high end systems had no big problems, but do they expect that all their 100k-200k subs will have e8800, 8800 GTX, and 4gigs of ram? The combat it entertaining but i am not very pleased on pvp how it works, but we will see. The inventory it plain ugly with 3d items ..too many instances but we will see after lvl 20...and i am not sure how well it will perform on a siege.. In the end i loved the graphics and mature atmosphere, but it fails to deliver the feeling of mmorpg, when every house is instanced and the zones the same. On my part i will wait a few months after release and try it again. For now it no point in flaming it, we all knew is gona be like this.
Good day

the single mmog on the market that evolves with time instead of milking the cow, ofcourse they are dumbing the game a little, they are no saints, but there is no game to content and features at this moment on the market, thank god is complex so not all the brainless players are in it, 200k subscribers, 2003, free addons, and with the new patch content for another 1 -2 years, real pvp, fuk yeah. GJ CCP! No, i am not a fanboy, but these days there is nothing compete with these game, tho i miss a good fantasy game..from Asherons Call... |

mate, cheating a MMOG is like breathing air these days. Lets see, i receive a task to do a research on the "Wow gold" keyword these days on the google, us market. 6,8 mil(37000 per month a few big months ago). Not much if your are a good SEO-er, but 6,8 mil sites mate lolz. Now imagine how many from the people of WOW have a ideea on how to play the game. If you count how many private message you receive in this popular game, and how many brainless people you find in your instanced based dungeon go figure what means cheating in MMORPG .
The best example is to rent a Lineage II account (so called the biggest subscribers DB in the world of MMORPG before WoW, but in reality in US, EU were maxim 200k at the begining and lower in time, the rest were in Asia, the most privated servers game ever...because of the fault on Devs, not cash problems on players) and you will see in the first beginners towns 20 characters trains with bots, named 034850934, skjdhfjksd, 430958390485, ksing you in every good hunting spot, and you will pay for this shiet. The Company NC Soft and the Dev studio EG didnt do shiet for years, and it wont reduce their subscribers(farmers) just to be a honorable company, or to look good, "hey check this out we invested milion dollars but hey we support boters, wanna buy adena? Rang! Rang! KCHING!" |

the funny thing is that, is not important what you want from a mmorpg, it is important to understand what the devs have to do to get a LOT OF CASHY!. A good mmo might be released at some point see UO, AC, EVE Online, AO after a few months, untill the devs notice that they can milk cow a lot, so they start to make the game available for anyone. What that means? Simple put, making as dumb as it gets, so every kid or rtard on the planet plays it. More players database means a lot more money...It all about cash and you guys dont get it. A good example was Asherons Call or EVE Online, Anarchy Online, where the players database was elite, because these game where complex, and harsh, this meaning good features, and complex gameplay, yes you got to have a brain, until the developers realized that they can make a lot of money by dumbing the games down for more sales. Do you think that the creative directors, the game designers are that stupid, no...,they are lead by investitors decisions and mangers, and the move by the heavy and evil tool, marketing departament - cost control(but the most important these days)...they are victims or their own creations lolz, ironic.. Thats the true today. Some devs dare to change this by making games like Saga of Ryzome, Face of Makind, Freeworld, and many others but will not acomplish much whithout a bank on their back, and slowly they will faile because finacial problems. On the creative part they kick ass on companies like Blizzards, NC Bot Software, SOE incampable mangers, EA we buy you all cause we dont have ideeas.. Think of this. If you had like 20-100mil $ bullshit budget a big developer company of a mmog has, what will you prefer a 100k elite players database, where you can be creative and make the best creation you can make as a gamedesigner, art concept, world designer, art director, lead programmer, or you can steal everything that work (the recipe) and try to get what WOW(it has this because of the best marketing ever, and brand not because of the game) gets, at least a 10%, 20% of their Database, to get the money back and some profit. It all bussines now, the creativity is way way lost in the mist. So you will say, okie mate you are on cracks, thanks for wasting 5 minutes of my time reading this shit, what you will do? I will do a great mmorpg and fun complex, totally inovative compared with what with have today, by making even the lowest experienced player feel like he is part of something big, in the great plan (story of the game - but not making him loose the RL). Do you think i am the only one(no i wont tell my ideas here:P), noo.. they are game designers that are genial but they can implement their ideas without big bucks so they get in something commercial to live their lifes. Thats the cruel reality. The message: Stop buying, subscribing shity, non innovative, retarded massive multiplayer games. That will never happen because the majority gamers of this planet are consumers with non brains, but there is a chance...Thanks Blizzard for bringing 5 milion retarded players on this world, from where 1 mil are decent capable humans been, and 1 mil are e-gold farmers. Total around 7 -8 milions...of brainless non coordinated people..i was one of them i gota say the know how to polish a game, untill a point:)

good article mate. Indeed i am glad to see after 2-3 years when i was thinkin at it you came to the same conclusion:) A fantasy mmog with the eve features, will bring a lot on the mmorpg market. Imagine you dont have to grind for lvl, only for cash, imagine that you and the people are in control of the economy of the game, imagine that a 1 week character could be usefull in pvp, imagine conquareable teritories? and many good stuff that are in EVE, could be incredibile in a fantasy mmog, but most of the Devs think they gona succed on making what Blizzard did, but they dont understand....Wow toke everything good from other games and asamble it very well in a one package, some things like pvp and graphics still sucks, but it a good game, because it very polished, but high end content it bleah...They made it with the idea to sell to everybody, and when you do that, you cannot have a really good mmorpg. Eve at this moment is the only mmorpg on the market that evolves with every year instead of dying, tho lately some flaws in the gameplay, are making a few of veterans to venture elsewhere, because of ganking and blobs...50.000 players on one server? Imagine that:)
Have a good day |
