Part of the flaw imo. A) You'll be torn to shreds more then 'now and again', and B) the solution is to be carried by other players rather than anything you can do on your own.

And even that solution will take at least a month or so most likely.

How is that supposed to be fun?

They're trying to fix it now but people aren't quite convinced it will help. It'll probably require more time for there to be a good solution.

There are a couple ongoing threads on the Mythic forums for these issues.  There was an accounts services website maintenance today so there may be some issues.  I checked my accounts and they are ok, but that may not be the case for everyone.  I suggest following those threads to anyone having issues.

It 'disappeared' before the maintenance (which involved changing a bit or memory so had nothing to do with management), and it was still gone till a while after.

it's fixed now though, but you have to admit, how the hell do they even manage to make that happen, and let alone let it happen exactly at that moment xD

I'd seriously recommend waiting a month until the pops normalize(post patch hype atm), people get used to running the current campaign mechanics (for good or bad), and a fair number of bugs getting worked out first. (Not getting any contribution at keeps, queues not popping etc)

I think you'll have a better idea of where the game is at and where it's going then.

That said, if all you care about is the here and now, then a good hype moment is always as good a time as ever. Just don't expect that first impression to be the way the game will be in a few weeks. (again for good or bad)

I haven't played the game since the first month and I wanted to come back and try the game for the 10 day offer, but it says I've played in the last 90 days, which I haven't. This a bug?

If you haven't actually played in that time I'd assume so.

Again...

->> You do NOT unlock a race! <<--

It's no different than going to wintergrasp and picking up a siege engine, except here

There's no permanent Skaven anything you get to play. There's no progression.

You win the scenario, you or anyone else who did picks up a Skaven(Max 12 at a time) and uses it to fight till they either die or leave the zone.

It's really no different than picking up a temporary Siege Engine in Wintergrasp or whatever in Wow, you just need a few more/different steps to be able to do it.

---------

And @ Above, I believe it's 12 per realm, but I admit I only saw one person mention that limit so I don't know 100% sure if that's correct but Mythic have stated countless times the number of Skaven is limited and twelve for a single keep to siege sounds about right.

--------

Basically if WoW had used ... Fairy skins on their siege engines instead of actual engines then it would have been exactly the same. New Playable Race - Fairies! 4 Different classes! (types of siege engines).

1.4 patch is awesome, you just don't understand how good this will be.

You didn't explain it either.

Skaven = when you are RR65+, when you win the new scenario, when you have the resources, and if one of the 12? slots for skaven on your *realm* is open, then you get a chance of taking a Skaven out to siege the keep until either you die or zone out.

They're really just siege engines basically, except you can't break any walls here.

To give any kind of meaningful reply to 'how is endgame' it would probably help if you mentioned why you left in the first place.

Anyway, overall, they took out forts, they took out scenario's as they were and made them into a weekly event, redid the city siege, introduced Land of the Dead, changed Weapon drops so they're basically 'Scenario weapons' now which will require some heavy farming.

And with the upcoming changes RR is going to 100 (provided you buy the pack) and the way Keeps are sieged will change as they introduce their own version of siege engines (Temporary skaven skinned siege engines basically which you can use in that zone if you win the new scenario). No destructable walls by the way, still just the door, but a few other ways to get into the keep passed the wall.

Considering the new changes are about to arrive I don't think anyone can really say what endgame will be like in a few months except that you're still going through the same zones, towards the same city.

I find 3 factions overrated anyway, they're regarded as the holy grail by DAoC vets, but I'm not convinced.

I don't think it's overrated. It wasn't a solution to the problem, not by a longshot. However, I think some people severely underestimate the psychological difference 3 factions makes versus 2.

The difference being that you're never just along out there. In WAR as soon as you start the game and peek out into any Area you have THE other faction breathing down on you, and only you, because you are their only target. With a 3rd faction, if one faction wasn't there, the other two automatically start focusing on eachother. And that always allowed for some breathing space, or times where you could pray on two other forces fighting eachother. I'm not describing it very well but it *really* makes a difference in the way you experience the game.

There is still random rolls, but there is good news on that front in a few weeks probably. They are allowing you to opt out of only the gold bags, thus, if you already have the armor from the keep attack/def, but still want medallions you can let someone else have it.

It's a shame I will be missing all the Higher RR's yelling at lower RR's to OPT OUT OPT OUT OPT OUT!@!!! xD

Good and somewhat valid points there but here's a qusetion, what if Mythc have been having a hard time with budget over the past few years? that would explain their lacking and perhaps why they got lured into joining EA, cus god knows else why they chose to do that eh? lol.  As for the whole Skaven joining sides thing, I see it as they're not joining anyone, they're just intervining, let your imagination do the work, not the game :P  I donno if this is how Mythic planned it but thats how I'm seeing it as.  Screw who's side they're fighting with, they just wanna kill, thats why they take either side :P  Besides, those cowards would join anyone after they see their boss fall to the ground, which is what happens in the game, though I agree I don't really see Order trying to get them to work with them by killing their boss, but like I said, we can always twist things a little, the Skaven want some payback on the Destro, they they imerge on the Order side of the field, simples :-)

I know they had trouble getting around the budget. That's why they sold out to EA because otherwise they wouldn't have finished the game at all. However, since release the game sold ~800k units in the first month and has seen 2 years of anywhere between 300k~- 100k~ of monthly subs. Now I know they had a massive bill to repay their investors, but is LoTD really the best they could do with all that money in 2 years? Did they send every cent back with hardly a dime back into the game for new content?

On the skaven thing, I think it's going to be really hard to imagine it as 'intervening' if you pay them with Warpstone that you got first and then your main character changes *into* a skaven for the duration of the siege (they're basically siege engines), to fight along side and actually have to be protected by Order so they can live long enough to serve their siege purpose. It's not like they're swooping in from the side for a sneak attack or something. They're an integral part of the siege all of a sudden.

Look. I completely can see 'some other faction' mingling in for some purpose or another. I personally don't care much for lore at all and think games should be built around working interesting mechanics, regardless of lore. But if looking at it from a lore perspective I can certainly understand why most people think what's happening here is almost inexcusable. To think that 'excuse' they came up with would actually happen that way, and that's it, was for a lot of people like pouring salt on an open wound. It's just ridiculous.

Edit: Home account vs Study center account btw, same person xD

I'd hope a mythic 'undercover' would actually come up with something more convincing than this wall of text. So yeah, I highly doubt you are one xD. Mostly you just seem happy they are actually introducing *something*. That's fine. it's good to get additions, and plenty of people will be happy with finally being able to do something new or different, especially considering the Skaven are introduced to get rid of the RvDoor.

I think most people realize a 3rd faction is never going to happen. It's simply too late, and would require a complete redesign of the whole game to incorporate them. That said, even though *you* think their short skit satisfies the lore, many people think they could have at least bothered to drum up a second skin that would fit Order far better, rather than making a short situation excuse which would probably never have happened that way in the Warhammer Universe but would rather have ended in slashing them up for even suggesting it.

Obviously people are going to enjoy the new patch. It's like tossing a bone at some starving dogs. It doesn't really matter how much meat is on it since WAR players have been dying for something new to do for so long.

I see lower lvls make a differnece everyday in the Lakes .. i could list many examples but really wont waste my time on people who dont understand the games mechains and probaly have 0 or limited experinece with it to know..

Ooo, the famous 'I can beat a scrub' argument.

Yes. If you're far lower in level, and you're in far lower gear, yet you're playing with a premade, who are usually higher RR and better equipped, you can possibly stand to help out a bit and heck, even beat out puggers and scrubs. Face the exact same team, with people with the exact same skill level but higher RR and Gear, and you'll be facing the floor. It's that simple.

Howcome the prevailing argument against gear difference always seems to be that you should simply look for a scrub to beat on? What happened to competition?

Amazing. High level zone, Raid Content, PvP zone. All those things are sepeate things in WoW, yet for WAR all those 3 refer to the single 24v24 Scenario they are adding. Like to twist facts much?

Let's laugh at your comparison by bringing up some of the actual facts behind Cataclysm, rather than 'Raid in WAR, Raid in WoW? Check.'

"

  • Player level cap increased to 85.
  • Six new high-level zones: Mount Hyjal and Uldum in Kalimdor; Vashj'ir and the Twilight Highlands in the Eastern Kingdoms; Deepholm in the elemental plane of earth; and the PvP zone and daily quest hub Tol Barad.
  • Two new player races, the worgen of Gilneas for the Alliance and the goblins of the Bilgewater Cartel for the Horde. New leveling zones added for these two races include Gilneas, the Isle of Kezan, and the Lost Isles.
  • A dramatic alteration of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms due
to the Cataclysm, resulting in massive environmental changes, as well as
questing and progression changes, for nearly every zone, resulting in
new leveling experiences. This includes new starter areas for the gnomes and Darkspear trolls, faction changes for some zones (such as Hillsbrad Foothills)
and, with the environmental redesign, the ability for players to fly on
both continents. (The blood elf and draenei content will still be
instanced and limited to ground mounts only.)
  • Seven new high-level dungeons and three new raid instances, all
available in regular and heroic modes (with raids in both 10- and
25-player varieties), as well as two heroic revamps of classic dungeons (Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep).
This will also include Blizzard's new Flexible Raid Lock system, a
change to raid functionality which includes the ability to move between
10- and 25-player raid groups, combine or split groups, and vary regular
    & heroic attempts.
  • New PvP opportunities including the Tol Barad zone and a PvP-instanced dungeon, Baradin Hold, as well as two new battlegrounds Battle for Gilneas and Twin Peaks.
  • class redesign (coming immediately prior to expansion launch in Patch 4.0.1
but optimized for the expansion) including new talents and spells,
simplification of talent trees, and reorganization of class buffs.
  • Revamp of character and gear stats, including elimination of
some stats and major changes to base stat operability (such as intellect
creating spell power, strength and agility affecting attack power,
etc.) This includes the addition of Reforging to the game, giving players the ability to add certain stats on gear in return for removal of others.
  • New race/class combinations (see the chart below) which will be available to all players in Patch 4.0.3.[5].
  • New Archaeology profession.
  • Level cap raised on all main and secondary professions to 525, with many new items, patterns and rewards.
  • A new Guild advancement system, which includes guild leveling, achievements and rewards.
  • Consolidation of previous expansion set currency systems; rewards will include two PvE currencies, Justice and Valor points, as well as two PvP currencies, Honor and Conquest points.
  • New technology enhancements including support for DirectX 11
features and hardware cursor in OpenGL mode, additional video options
and a new water rendering engine"

6 new zones, 7 dungeons, and 3 raids compared to your 'check'

Get a reality check. What you're doing is tantamount to saying Latvia's population is equal to the US's because they both have people.

Not to mention you completely disconnected the most significant part of the discussion again, which is that if you take 1.4 seperately, the game hasn't gotten any content additions in over a year.

Ow the irony xD

You're comparing expansion packs to the RR enhancement you can buy in WAR.

If you want to take WoW as an example, which you clearly did, then if you chose not to get the WoW expansion, the only thing that really changed for you was less people to play with. The game mostly remained the same since the people with expansions would move on to the next 'Tier' so to say.

Now take WAR, a PvP game, where Balance between players is arguably the most important thing there is, and they suddenly offer increased RR's. No tier change. Just exactly the same game, except now if you don't actually buy it you can forget about playing the content you were playing up until now because anyone who did buy it will smash your face with the extra RR/Gears/Weapons.

This is still ignoring the whole 'content' discussion, which in one case either makes you pay for extra content in a game that has offered hardly any content for your sub, or makes you pay for only the increase in power/progression without giving you anything else.

I'm wrong or Cataclysm isn't even out yet? And, probably is going to become the bigger espansion of all the time?

So, what about trying to compare this pack with the average of expansion? Do it and you will see i'm right, 15$ for all this is okay.

Personally, War worth my sub in this two years, and the news that they're going to release new packs every 2\3 month is great, i prefer new content every month instead of waiting a year.

It 's just a matter of taste...

Then take new frontiesr like I mentioned. Free expansion, in between expansions and other free content, from the same company, with less subs (probably) and over half a decade ago. And still probably more than people got here today.

I don't disagree the content versus price = ok-ish if you take the whole of 1.4 for 15$~, but when you do it's really hard to deny that where WAR is concerned, you're reall ypaying for content you would have gotten for free in nearly any other MMO, and even then there should have been a proper sized expansion for you to buy around now.

I wonder how many people would pay to get to the end game. We might actually be taken aback at how many who might pay. Look at Glider for WoW so there are people and if the game itself makes it legal you have to think how many would buy it. Get to end game and PvP . So you skip all the levelling to get to do what you want. It is not so far fetched to think that it could make them money.

2 dollars per RR per character and they'd be raking in money

'New items' is debatable since apparently even the new gears have graphics made years ago. Yes, they added some stats.

What 'stuff like that'?

New items:

1)New armors(not only the one for RR80\100 but also for other levels, also, the old graphics depends from the fact they haven't still not implemented the new artwork)

2)New weapons

3)New Dyes

4)New Mounts

5)New pets

A new dungeon integrated with the new ORvR's mechanic.

Stuff like that:

4 playable new class with they're new ability

New siege weapons(flying sh1t, don't remember the name sorry and other)

New scenario system

All for 15$....now, take a common expansion and divide his content for 15$...i'm sure you will obtain a lot less.

You've obviously not divied up Cataclysm then.

It's ok. You believe all the stuff you mentioned there has value. I can get into that. All of that for 15$, fair enough.

So what happened to your sub then? If you take out all of 1.4 you have over 2 years worth of subs from hundreds of thousands of people, and what do you have to show for it? LotD, and not even an expansion on the horizon. Some redone armors, some late classes, some redone weapons, removal of forts, fixes fixes fixes fixes, removal of scenarios to make them weekend based.

For 2 years plus and not even an expansion that's abysmal. In Daoc, with less subs they still made expansions regularly, and you got more than the amount of 1.4 put together for free with expansions like New Frontiers(The same company, less subs, less developers, over half a decade ago).

-------

The point here is not the value of 1.4 as a whole. It's not the sub based content on it's own. It's the two of them together.

Looking at 1.4 alone I can certainly see 1.4 in itself being something people would gladly pay 15$ for. If there had been an actual decent rate of content in the last 2 years, and a full fledged expansion on the way then people wouldn't have blinked twice for the 'extra' stuff they can get with packs like these.

Instead you get to pay for their fix to RvDoor and an extra scenario, and weapons and armors which mostly have old/reworked art, and a shop filled with old mounts, and a single level upgrade, some barber tokens a lot of people will never use, not to mention a forced RR upgrade if you want to have any hope of continuing to play in T4 on a fair level.

In most games this would have been a content patch, and yet here they not only replaced it for their expansion, they're even making you pay for it.

Isn't it just 1 lvl per account? or are ppl just adding extra lvls on this thread to make it sound much worse?

Oddly enough I don't see the same hyper-ventilating surrounding the Friends lvling experience you get in WoW, automatic lvls upto lvl 60, and ofc thats also part of Blizzards "Suck you dry" service.

That was the initial misconception to which people were complaining yes. Then the trolls came in to whine about the whiners complaining about one level, clearly not even bright enough themselves to see that it was a misconception to begin with, even after that was already cleared up.

Also, to even get the levels in WoW, you needed to have levelled with someone to a certain level. Something to the extent of being able to give one free level to a character of the one who recruited you for every two you levelled together (up to 60), which means 29 levels or something like that for levelling together to 60.

That's a far cry from the original thought here which was simply buying all your levels.

More cash shop items in another game...yay

So...you cry because they add server transfer and some stupid pets?

I guess he is "crying" because you have to pay to enlarge your renown level limit. This is more then just stupid pets of fluff stuff. This is actually something you should get for paying 15 euro/dollars every month! I will finish my 14 free days and so far enjoying it agian. This would not be something to keep me away, but I do dislike a move like this.

Well, enlarge your renow level or you level cap, isn't the same  thing? Every expansion you buy for every mmorpg increase the cap limit, on war we increase renow instead of normal level because is PvP oriented.

What's the difference?

The expansion wrapped around it for one.

Something like a new zone?Or new Items? And stuff like that?...ho wait!!

If some lazy bastard wants to buy a level let him. Its not money out of my pocket and it does not impact me in any way.

It actually may impact you, just as anything else has that potential, since it's a MMO.

Take Anarchy Online for example: There are the infamous "hecknoobs", people known for buying levels with in game money (they sit AFK in powerlevelling teams). They reach level cap without learning how to properly play their professions and without updating their gear or toolset. You eventually team up with them in end game missions and raids and that's when you realize you can't depend on them in combat, you can't expect them to have basic/medium nanoprograms of their professions toolset, hell, you can't even expect them to know the names.

So, yes, everything in a MMO can affect you, at least indirectly.

Not really. Just about any problem ,aside from technical, in an mmo can be solved by a good guild.

Guilds won't solve that problem, unless you refuse to socialize or cooperate with anyone outside your guild.

If my guild has almost 300 people with about 50 on my level or around it why would I need or want to socialise outside it?

Because they didn't make a working /Guildtransfer :p
