Doing the training over and over again is a bit boring. I created a half dozen of characters on the server, specialized in one kind of gameplay : GI, infilt, sniper, ground vehicles, air vehicles, max unit... Whenever I want to change my gameplay, I just relog with the appropriate character. |

I would like to thank all the posters here who prevented me from spoiling $55 buying this game. I almost tried to buy the pionneer offer but a friend of mine who was in early beta told me the game was a f.. p.. o.. s.. t.. w.. p.. #!$ #%%!! (approx. quote) I tried SoG and according to what I have read, it is so different from DnL when it come to the game's name that it would be petty to point the finger at the games' likenesses. Anyway, thank you, thank you, without you I would have spoiled hard earned money. |

The first time I hunted some rat BS in 0.0 I almost got Pwned. Simple explanation : unappropriate skills and fitt. A corpmate explained to me what skills (and what levels) I had to train and what was the best fitt according to my BS and rat type. A couple of weeks later, I was destroying 3 BS's spawns with my Apoc. It's better to be overskilled in a cruiser than underskilled in a BS. Adapt your hunts to your capabilities. One day or another, you will do rampage in Lvl 3, 4 missions. |

That is just plainly awesome. not so long ago I got flamed on this forum because I pointed that lack of content in the Eve Universe and now CCP is just adressing the problem. I can't wait for these features to be implemented. That is sooooo great. |

Rewarding exploration of space, utilizing new system scanning and the new seamless view (see above), enabling you to discover escalating paths. This is a prerequisite for Next-Gen R&D, which will be used for gathering a plethora of R&D items. We're opening up this aspect of EVE with Reverse Engineering and Invention, enabling you to create Tech II blueprint copies by gathering knowledge and technology through various means, such as exploration. This instantly creates content throughout the whole EVE universe. By making all destroyed ships - player and NPC alike - drop new ingredients, which are salvageable with the right profession skills and tools, we create a massive market for ingredients and ship upgrades, which the average EVE player can now utilize to further upgrade his own ship. Finally CCP is focusing on something else than PvP battles !! Exploration, Reverse Engineering and ship upgrades. I thought it would never happen. |

The best addiction is when you have your ***** avatar who has gathered 350k RP without winning any T2 and each month you hope that you will win at the lottery and you just can't cancel because there is a little tiny voice in your head saying "what if you win on the next month, after all more RPs more chances..." That's like Casinos, you always say "ok, this will be the last try but I'm sure I'm gonna win the jackpot on this one" |

The problem is not with stating that "Eve is not for everyone" which is true for every single MMORPG on the market. The problem is that the sentence usually comes with "it's for mature and intelligent" people. That's a rant in itself, that's like saying : okay if you're adult and smart play Eve, if you're a clueless moronic kid, play anything else. As much as I can agree with the "It's not for everyone" point, I can't accept the "only for smart and mature" point. If you're tired of pointless flames, I'm tired of pointless hypes. Eve has a simple gameplay, nice combinations of percentages whether you're talking about skills or fitts, that's like playing chess. Learning how you can move the pieces is not hard, learning how to master chess can be a lifetime challenge. I agree that Eve can offer a huge amount of possibilities and therefore challenges for the players, I still think that there are other games offering the same kind of challenge and that this game can evolve and get better. Perfection is not part of this World. As a sci-fi ship based game there are tons of things that CCP could do better, there are aspects in Eve gameplay that suck and I can't see in the name of what people shouldn't have the right to dislike the way a game is implemeting this or that activity. I think that crafting suck in Eve, you can't make your own customized item, you can't R&D in a way that would allow you to sell items that no one else would be selling. You perfectly know how many people is whining against the T2 lottery. In the end, everybody end up with the same items, with the same ME/PE and the market PvP is most of the time a question of margin reduction. I hope that the new manufacturing system will give to this game a "crafting" activity as challenging as the PvP fights. PvP battles are great, ok. But that's not all in the game. Even for those who pretend that Eve is a pure fighting game, don't forget that CCP recently said that PvP was meaning any Player vs Player activity, not only battles. As for questing, it could be far better and don't pretend that you never did any complex, even PvP players in 0.0 are doing complexes. Questing/missioning is a part of the game, I'm sure that mission runners are a big part of the Eve community so I can't see why this aspect could not get better. Eve is great, it has lots of good aspects but it could be better, it could borrow some ideas from other MMORPGS in areas where Eve is lacking stuff. It wouldn't be a shame. You want Eve to stay like it is, I want it to change. That's your right and that's mine. As long as I am subscribing to this game, your thoughts don't worth more nor less than mine, we are all customers. |

I must say that the people here does not represent the ingame community which is far more mature. That's a good point for Eve |

Typical because he assume that Eve is better than other MMOs without knowing what he is talking about. "aim/action/range" and that is supposed to be more than what all the other MMOs are offering in fight ? Typical because he assume that you can't criticize Eve. Whether you enjoy playing it or you shut the f*** up. That is supposed to be a mature behaviour ? Okay, Eve is the greatest game, unchallengeable, deep. You can do everything in Eve. You can do everything with anything if you think that way... That's like painting with a hammer, ironing clothes with a hammer, eating your soup with a hammer... I'm sure that with a bit of imagination you will find a way to do it, that still doesn't mean that's the best way to do it ! Eve is the only ship based sci-fi game. I play it (less and less) because that is the only ship based sci-fi MMO. It could be a far better game and that's why I'm criticizing it here and on CCP's boards. When you consider that critics are irrevelant, that no one should dare criticizing, that is a fanboy or groupie girl teenage behaviour. Eve is not the best game, it is a good game. I'm glad if you enjoy it. |

Static_Wolf, I share your views, I stopped arguing about Eve on this forum because I know it has the best fanboy team I have ever seen Eve is not matching what I'm looking for as an Elite-like MMO. I'm more a PvE guy, I like grouping for questing and it's obvious that PvE sucks in Eve. Despite Eve has one of the best market system among all the MMOs, industry is still sucking. The universe is dead, except from idle patrols at the gates and from time to time some convoys exiting or entering a station, it's all depressingly dead. If you are a hardcore gamer, run to 0.0 and enjoy the neverending battles and high reward complexes, if you're a casual gamer, just choose another game. To sum up : tasteless questing/PvE system, poor crafting system and a miserable content. That put aside, it rocks for PvP and for people who enjoy travelling while watching their TV. What is quite boring is that you always read the same "only mature people with a >160 IQ can play EVE" rant when you start a debate about the game. I'm playing it for 2 years and I have met my share of complete morons in the game. So obviously, it is not a game reserved for genius. I would say that Eve is a game for geeks who like to grab a calculator and play with dozens of spreadsheets, calculating margins, return of investment or damage multiplier, accuracy fallout and take a revenge by powning people for all the wedgies they have been given at highschool. Being serious, if I'm still playing Eve that's above all because since the end of E&B there are no other challenger. Maybe STO ? Who knows .... PS : Forget about infinity, from what I have read there is only one coder for this game. I'm sure the guy is willing to do that project but I think it will remain a vaporware. |

Planetside is not a wargame, it's an FPS. It doesn't have to be realistic nor logical, what matters is balance and gameplay. If you feel that you're getting owned too easily, blame your skills not the game. That feeling that you're playing a rock paper cissor game simply means that the devs finally managed to balance the whole game. It means that there are no OMGWTFPWNED über weapon in this game (and believe me I had my share of Lasherwhores, Jackrabbits ....). When a game is balanced, the tiniest detail can make you win or loose. I used to pilote Mosquitos and Reavers and so far, I have always been easily owned. Non sense ? No, I just suck at piloting aircraft. Like said above, there are pilots that are rampaging bases with their mosquitos and reavers. They are just more skilled than me. I find the game (technically) uncredibly better than when I began with Planetside. Of course there is some lag problems in overcrowded bases but I only see two problems now with Planetside : 1/ It is getting old : graphics need a revamp. 2/ It hasn't evolved that much in terms of gameplay. Remember that at the early stages of this game developement, the producers were talking about RPG elements (more than just BR/CR), housings, economy. If only we could have something like that in Planetside 2 (?)... |

Tbh, I would have wished they limited players to BR6 from the beginning of the game. I quitted PS a long time ago but I enjoyed the first months when, well a majority of players were between BR6 and BR8. The thing is that you have to specialize yourself if you want to compete. That way, each soldier is different. When I left the game, every trooper was wearing a Reinforced armor and was carrying an heavy assault gun and an AV. With this free trial, I'm facing people who chose to only use special assault or be only sniper, or only AV. It's far more interesting.... and it's free |

The noob lands were desert when I started but now I always find people in the main game. It is not an overcrowded game but I find that there are more RP in this game then in any other. People take the time to roleplay since there is no mission grinding in this game, no people camping a dungeon to get a special artefact. In fact everybody is helping. There are not many content (almost no dungeon or quest) in Ryzom but the universe is amazing, at least something without trolls, gobelins, elves and dwarves. I hope that with R², the players will be able to bring their own content. This game really has something, a kind of atmosphere. It's like if it was the setting of a wonderful story except that the story is still not there. |

Hi, First of all, join a corp. That's always better to learn from veteran players. Pirate corps are not all disguised as miner corp, many of them are proud of their activity, although maybe many just pretend to be mercenaries. Anyway, why not seeking them by yourself. I suppose that pirates are probably camping in low systems. Why don't you scan your map to detect high podkill systems and then try to carefully get in touch with the pirates over there. Try also to google for "Eve Online" and "kill list", you could find pirate web sites. About pirating in 0.4, I'm carebear, so I'm usually on the shooting end of the laser. But piracy is usually limited to gate camping. You just sit and wait until a victim jump in. Piracy in belt is maybe more risky because in 0.4, you have chances that a miner will have some military support, at least, to protect him from the npcs. And if it does not, maybe he is using a powerful ship and could not worth the risk. Now, if you want the great thrill and are ready for some sport for real men That's all I can say about piracy, maybe some bad guy will give you more details about the methods. |

M Doomhammer, From my own experience Eve is like a cycle, you have fun with it then you get bored and quit. Then probably some guy tells you "Hey! I'm doing level 3 missions and I make 50M a day with loots and more with implants" and you think "dammit I want to try it too", then they nerf the mission and you realize you have to play 6hRs a day to reach your objective and you quit. Then another guy tells you "forget about level 3, I make level 4 in my Raven and earn 400M in a week with no risk", and you come back and then they nerf the mission and you realize that you're back with the 6Hrs a day, and you quit. Then another guy tells you, "Complexes are a must ! you earn rare BPC and make 600M a week !", again you come back and everybody is camping the complexes and you realize you should camp a complexe 6 Hrs a day to reach the objective. That's my own experience, I always lack money and/or skill to be at the right place at the right moment. Thus, I always endup grinding for hours while others already found the next golden goose. And then I get bored because most of the time in Eve getting rich means whether finding the golden goose or spend half of your life behind your computer screen. IRL comes first. |

I played Eve for one year and a half and I'm now playing Ryzom. To the OP, don't listen to the usual fanboys who will tell you "MY GAME IZ DA BEST, YOURS SUXXXXX", the truth is that Eve and Ryzom are both great games. From what I have seen, Ryzom lacks a good quest system but Eve's missions are kinda boring on the long run. But, with COSMOS Eve's missions are becoming an exciting challenge and with Ryzom Ring player made quests could be a real kick ass feature. Both games have an excellent community, personnally I find Ryzom more RP oriented while Eve is definitely more PvP. That doesn't mean that you can't find RP in Eve nor that you can't find PvP in Ryzom. I just joined a guild in Ryzom which can't stand the Matis (and I can't blame them for that :) ) so that's a good bet for future PvP fights :) I prefer the Ryzom's crafting system, I disagree with what has been said above about Eve's crafting system. On Ryzom, your raw materials have an impact on your final product quality and properties, on Eve only your skills have an impact on the production cost, the products are all the same. And most of the crafters in Eve have maxed their production skills. If you want to be a crafter, you should pick Ryzom. On the other hand, I prefer Eve's economical system. If you want to be a trader, Eve is definitely your game. There are so many skills and factors having an impact on the market. It's a pleasure to buy/sell stuff all around the galaxy by boosting your margins. |
