yea, same for d2, was only a niche game too. didnt survive long wit it's rinse and repeat mechanics :)

 didn't survive long??? considering how long ago it came out I would say it survived a heck of a long time. Just because you may not play it doesn't mean its dead.

I'm not going to say which art style I prefer out of Torchlight 2 and Diablo 3. But I will say that if you think their graphics are in any way even remotely similar in style, you are either (a) blind, (b) stoned, (c) trolling or (d) all of the above.

there seems to be mixed reviews about the beta going on this weekend. Of course there will be alot more posts about it being bad because hate posts are like the "I quit" posts, everyone one wants to make their own just to make sure what they write is read.

i'm just trying to think of any game that offered lifetime sub that is still p2p :/

I get the dislike or even hatred of the game...I don't get the idea that they've somehow failed. They are probably rolling in more money that any of us will even see in our lifetimes, much less get to spend. They didn't just win, they bought the arena and painted it in their colors.

EA is counting free month give-a-ways, trials, and people that paid for multi month subs but stopped logging in long ago as part of that 1.3 million.

Anyone thinking their servers look desolate now just wait until the free time is over. You’ll actually hear some of the ambient life that we thought wasn’t added in. Crickets lots and lots of crickets.

 okay not to sound like a fan boy but does anyone have a link of them saying that trials are being counted? free months is understandable since they had to have an active subscription by the 20 something of April to get the free month. Oh and just fyi...I stopped logging in a while ago myself but still got my free month of game time left.

i guess its sholdn't be surprising after the whole subscription fiasco from NA Tera. It is a shame that there has been no official response as to what is going on with players in Asia. The big problem is it seems as though many players just recently purchased a copy yesterday and all of a sudden this is happening.

i'm currently playing Tera and since its a niche game i don't see this as being a competitor for any MMO. It will have its own fans like WAR did but I don't see this game breaking records anytime soon.

so i've been checking out tera for a while and unfortunately I can't buy or play the NA version because I'm stationed in Korea. I can however but the EU version :/ doesn't anyone know if they blocked asia also or is it still just russia?

edit: i did some researching and found out I can play on EU servers :) guess I'll take what i can get.

i play what ever game i want to. Unlike some players the only ppl that know when i quit a game is the guild I'm in and thats just out of courtesy. I never understood the "cancelled account" posts.

a few reasons i believe it was so successful:

-blizzard already had a huge fanbase

- the game was geared toward both the casual and hardcore players

-hero classes (this was scrapped in beta and never really seen the light of day)

-good PR

-big budget

-the game itself was good and back then players didn't have high expectations like they do now.

-little competition

- very small learning curve allowing novice gamers to enjoy the game and not get overwhelmed.
