Fort Charles is at Port Royal. If you follow the beach, one end leads to Wicked Thicket, and the other end is a high that leads to Fort Charles.

Facing Sam Seabones and the beach, turn right and you will see an opening going to one of the taverns. To the left of this opening is a corner. There's a dig spot there, and I usually just run to this spot to dig.

But basically any dig spot will give you a high chance of getting the buried ring.

Maybe the email address you had on file was not correct? Try http://support.turbine.com and put in a ticket for DDO, they should be able to help you out. I am sure they would do what they can for a potential reactivation :)

In order to tweak the settings you have to pick "Custom" from the Video Quality drop down. Then all the options will light up.

You won't need to cancel if you didn't upgrade from trial. Their trials are not auto-bill.

Since the game is free, all you would need is a basic character with basic equipment. When starting I would just use a melee weapon ( as it does not need ammo), and just start hunting in the new area. After a while you can earn enough equipment to buy eqipment without having to pay irl. It will take a long grind tho so be ready to spend a lot of hours killing spawns. There also are no missions by the game. but I did here that some guilds and people are setting up missions.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response! I understand it's possible to grind it out to buy equipment without paying, but I think everyone here agrees that that's tedious and certainly not fun.

Is $15 a month enough to bypass such thing, and let you have fun with that investment?

Surprisingly, I just heard about EU and am intrigued, more from a study/research perspective.

I know it's a game that relies on cash transactions with in game item/money sinks. I also read a lot of comments about it being "gamble-ly" if you don't  know what you are doing.

Traditional casino wisdow tells you that you don't try to win at the casino, but rather, just try to make your money last as long as possible, because the house always win. So my question is, how far will a $15 a month investment get you in this game (comparable to other monthly MMOs), given an average working adult:

- Average skill and reasonable amount of research
- Can play maybe 10-20 hours a week
- Do like this kind of social/economic games

Basically, what I am trying to get at is, can $15 a month buy you amount of "fun", comparable to another MMO?

May 31st is the absolute last day you can enter your Pre-order key, and that's it. It will be gone from the website afterwards.

I don't believe LOTRO is failing.  My stand has always been that the game is highly overrated, that some of the claims that fans have made are completely false, and that many of the reviews and posts about the game are paid advertisements.

Warning: Feeding the trolls. Bad me, I know.

Hmm, I would like you to provide proof that the reviews about the game are paid advertisements? :) Unless you have insider source to a good number of review sites and magazines, I find this to be completely troll-lish and baseless.

To respond to the OP, I haven't been posting/reading much because I have been very busy playing the game in my limited play time. Still only level 25 :(

Besides, people talk about things most passionately when it's new. What needs to be said has already been said. All the fans have bought the game. Now is the time for fence sitters to decide if they want to buy the game, that's why there's a lot of "should I buy this" threads all over.

It sounds like it's texture loading, as well as new models drawing issue. Try playing around your texture cache size. It might help.

Dance, baby! - Ok, this is by no means a factor to base your decision to play LOTRO or not, but c'mon!  Yeah, we all know white folk can't dance, but what about hobbits and dwarves?  If you log into LOTRO for the first time and type /dance expecting to laugh as hard as you did after typing the same command for your gnome in WoW, prepare to be dissappointed.  Instead of wild tiny hip-thrusts and ass-slapping, all you'll get is clapping - and even then it seems as if your character's saying, "Oh please, do I have to?!?"

Try /dance1, /dance2 and /dance3 :)

The range of emotes in LOTRO is quite wide. Click on the chat balloon icon at lower left and you can get a full list :)

Without further information is hard to give you an answer. What do you look for in an MMO? What other MMOs have you played that you liked? Do you enjoy PvE or PvP? Do you like to fool around or are you a definite power gamer?

You should get a buddy key and try the game out yourself. Nothing anyone say here, or you hear otherwise, will give you the information you can get from a 10-day trial.

No one can tell you why a game is good, only you can decide that :)

I have been playing MMO since UO and is an avid PvE player (PvP is totally not my cup of tea). I find LOTRO to be very satisfying. I played WoW for a long time, and LOTRO is just what I need, a new, fresh batch of PvE contents for me and my friends to go through together. We level together, we do fellowship and epic story quests together. It's a blast :)

Just want to say that don't assume all "veteran" MMO players have the same taste as you ;)

Thank you MMORPG.com for recognizing the discrepancy in the initial publish of this article. Bravo :) I look forward to a comprehensive review of the game in the future.

It would have been totally fine if there was actually an opinion in the written review to agree or disagree about :) Then we can actually discuss the points in the review instead of complaining about the fact that there were no written points.

If you don't like the review here, there are multiple other places that rate graphics, sound, and other features at a 9 or higher. That is what reviews are for.

I really agree that the reviewer has every right to rate the game however he/she wants. I didn't see an opinion in the writing is really my beef. I really love the game, but with this review, I can't even argue about the bad points in the review, because there are none elaborated other than a number :)

I am really reviewing the review here... :) I got no issues with difference in opinion, but I do have issues with reviews that are not comprehensive, especially from established and popular sites like MMORPG.com.

The review on GamingTrend is so much more detailed: http://www.gamingtrend.com/Reviews/review/review.php?ReviewID=830
