"Untill I reached level 10 and unlocked the "end game" of ESO - PVP. "...huh?? who in the world told you PVP at level 10 was end game? or that PVP was the end game of this game in the first place??  you do your alliance to level 50, then you do a 2nd alliance and then after that the 3rd. then you have adventure zones when you reach level VR-10, you are missing out on a lot this game has to offer if you are thinking reaching level 10 and going to cyrodill is "end game" in this game. smdfh
its only going to be in the Us for launch, it will be moved to EU with in the first few weeks of the game. nothing at all to worry about
"The amazing "cartoony" art style." is the reason i wont be getting wildstar..i couldnt get though 5 minuets of that game without puking. and playing the ESO beta since november, i have seen a TON on people leaving wildstar and getting ESO instead. It a matter of opinion. you like wildstar, good, hope you have a blast playing it, thats all that matters..if YOU like the game or not.
not an issue at all. as you stated in the article, the adventure zone is for level 50+ players. They have said it will be the fist added content in 3-4 weeks. not months. Its going to take the majority of the player base longer than that just to get to level 50, longer to get to level 50+. If a player does EVERYTHING the game has to offer, instead of skipping content just to try to be the first to get the imaginary prize for being one of the first to level 50, then it will take a long time to get to the point where they can do the adventure zones. Crafting alone is going to take a long time to master. So, with that said. there is plenty to do in this game till the adventure zone is added to the game. Not an issue at all.

some people on here are acting like this game has been out for 6 months or a year, instead of realizing this game hasnt even been released yet. Most MMO's dont have a lot of what the OP stated in game at launch, Developers add game content as the game evolves, and the player base evolves.. The OP is also thinking PVP is the ONLY thing to do in the PVP zone. as one poster wrote, there are 16 dungeons, PVE content, and a host of other activities to do in Cyradill, not JUST PVP.  ZOS has stated they will be reading player feed back and adding to the game what the player base would like to see in game. That includes Arena's and dueling. People on here are acting like ZOS is going to keep what they have now for PVP and they are done with it.

this game will have A LOT more to offer than just PVP end game. they will have adventure zones, they are adding a justice system, they are adding the thieves guild and the dark brotherhood, and those are just what we know about. How about we wait at least the first 6 months, then suggest good options for ZOS to add to the game.

In todays market, there is no financial security in box + sub. There is no benefit to the game. There is only one underlying advantage... and not one that is good for the customer. If you launch as box + sub, you can cash in fast, then change course at a later date.

This is seen by the masses as a bait and switch. It is a setup from the start, with the companies planning to take advantage of the goodwill of thier customer base. This is why people are upset about the proposition... not because they dont like the payment method, but because they feel they are being lied too.

A good example of box + sub is Final Fantasy XIV. This is an HONEST attempt at a monthly sub, and one that players can respect. It may not be the 'sucess' that WoW is, but it is not the 'failure' that all the others are. It is an honest attempt to make a game that is based around a monthly sub. This is not what people are seeing with TES or WildStar. Both of these (for different reasons) are poised to change business models, but only after they have gotten as much money as possible from gullible customers.

link a site up where you read ESO is poised to change its business model down the road. I have been following this game since it was a rumor and i never read that anywhere.

im like you, i wont be leaving any zone either till #1 i have all the shards in a zone, and #2 till i help close all 3 dark anchors in every zone, you get achievements for doing so. Ill be taking my time with this game. crafting, exploring every nook and cranny of every zone, and on and on and on. just wish the 30th would hurry up and get here :)

In fact, im not even rushing to buying before launch. And wont rush to buy until they give the same faction unlock to post launch owners.

Well in a year you most likely wont need to buy it either as it will already be free2play. 

HAHAHAHA..it will most likely never be free to play for several reasons..one reason being its rated "M". cant have a rated "M" game F2P so the little kiddies can have access to it.  i wont even get into ALL the other reasons this game will never be free to play..i would be writing a novel if i did.

hahah you didnt even come close to refuting anything you said. " old bugs" have been fixed for awhile, the last 3 beta's have been stress tests of the server on an old build of the game. , the .18 game build (google it) is as close to being bug free as a game can get before launch. No other MMO has first person perspective like ESO with the character animation, so that was false. considering the first person perspective that is a staple of TES  games was just added to the game less than a year ago. (because the public wanted it added by the way, they never planed to have it in this game at the beginning of development) its understandable that they are still tweaking it and which is a HUGE undertaking redoing code that late in development.  I have no idea why you have a hair up your a**  about this game. and why you are so negative about this game, you act like zenimax stole your bike....

It's a bit early to go with those statements. Most games are awesome at launch since it has taken few years to complete. You should consider if the pace of which they bring new content is worth the sub :) Many many dev teams fail to deliver on this and go B2P because its less pressure :) 

i think they are off to a great start in that department. they have already finished with 4 or 5 content patches for after launch, and they continue to do so. So, they have the first 4 or 5 months of new content DLC for after launch. thats better than most new MMO's that have come out recently

i cant think of many developers that would change their game this close to launch, can you??, try hundreds that have been testing the current build of the game, not "a select few". google the .180 patch notes to ESO and you will see they have changed and fixed a ton of things in game..they have stated they will have meaningful updates added to the game every 4 weeks, they have already finished with 4 updates for after launch and they continue to work on more. If they arent one of the best companies now, they are headed in the right direction in my opinion. and by the way, they will have one more beta test with the current build of the game before early access on the 30th of this month. If you actually did some research and asked the right people you would find all the data you want on this game.

They want the type of people who will forgive bugs, forgive log in screens, forgive all the problems this game has and wants to play because they think it offers them a lot of cool things to do.

 

"Serious" players wont last long because beyond PvP (which will require a build that actually works) there isnt any 'challenge' in this game. When you can offer so many builds that 'arent any good' and they can still accomplish stuff the game isnt much of a challenge.

 

The performance of the game has been so bad that people have gotten away from the other things wrong with this game. Which cant be a positive thing thats for sure, when there are so many negatives to talk about that you loose focus on some to harp on others there are just too many things wrong.

 

But a 'casual' guy who doesnt know any better probably wont care, at least once its free.

i had to stop reading the comment when i cam across yours.

#1) i have been in the beta since November, and i can tell you there are tons of casual players and ton of "Serious" players in this game and love it so you  are way off base about that

#2) the last 3 public beta's have been the same build of the game, the last 2 beta's have been purely stress test of the servers with the old build of the game. the current build of the game has been on the private test servers and relatively bug free and smooth.

#3) apparently you are the one that doesn't know any better because you were clueless that you were in a BETA test of an OLD build of the game and if you saw the patch notes on the current build of the game or even played the current build or even realized you were in a STRESS TEST, you might have a different opinion.

#4) what do you mean by "casual"?  you mean the players that like a story, like to PVE, like to explore, like to craft, and like to take there time enjoying the game vs the "serious" people who are in such a rush to get to max level that they cant even enjoy the game because the feel they are in a race to the top, like they are going to win some imaginary prize that doesn't exist when they do reach max level? if thats the case, i would choose casual player over "serious" players any day of the week because they can appreciate a game more than serious players can. so you must be a "serious" player right?

couldnt agree more. The questing does make it seem meaningful and important to what you are doing. I also love the exploring. Just by going off the beaten path i have found unique crafting tables where you can craft named sets of armor, found a cave not on the map, went inside and found a quest that wasnt marked, and skyshards, chest, and on and on. i have no clue how people can say this game in on quest rails. smh. Love the combat. love the graphics. I have been in 5 beta's now, the beta in november didnt even resemble the game that is in beta now. Just think, this past beta was an old build of the game. I have read the patch notes for the current build and the amount of fixes and changes they have implemented is impressive. They say they will be one more beta before early release on March 30th. I think im going to skip it and wait till the 30th and just start playing the full release. the beta has just too many spoilers.

First wildstar. went to their site to check out game play videos, couldnt get past 5 minuets of watching them..kiddy, cartoon graphics..so sick of cartoon graphics in MMO's. havent been back to Wildstar since.

 Got my first beta invite to ESO back in November..was really looking forward to this game since i heard about it. been a huge TES fan since the very fist game in 94. I have every game i the series. Well, got into the beta and i was like really?? this is it? not impressed at all. but i kept an open mind knowing it was in beta and still a good 6 months till release. Got my 2nd Invite to beta in january, and i was hooked and pre ordered the game because of the beta..the changes they made in the beta was like night and day in just 2 months..the graphics were gorgeous set on ultra/high settings, found myself several times just stopping and looking at the world and the amount of detail it had. From the questing mechanics, the crafting (LOVE the crafting), the lore, the customization, the combat, the exploration all felt like elder scrolls to me. This isnt your typical MMO, if you just like to rush through to end game and try to race everyone to level cap, you will not enjoy this game..it isnt made for that. its made for taking your time and exploring the world and everything around you, you dont have to be on rails and just follow the quests. you can just open your map and go for an empty area and you will find tons to do and find. For example, I took off towards and empty part of my map and found "unique" crafting tables hidden in a cave where you can craft "named" armor. I found locked chests, hidden resources for crafting, NPC's ran up to me for help and went on quests that werent listed on  the map. in the last beta i was able to get my character to lvl13 and grouped up for a dungeon and took out a dark anchor, very fun and very different from most MMO's i have played.

  Some people have complained about the beginning starting zones, some have complained about the combat and lack of collision detection, well, Zenimax has listened. The starting zones will now be optional. once you finished breaking out of cold harbor, you will be starting off in your alliances home city with the option to go to the starting islands. they have also added collision detection for NPC's for combat. The only thing i can see being a problem with that is pets getting in the way in combat, but im sure they will fix that. You have to be impressed with Zenimax listening to their player base and making changes in game this close to the launch of the game, not many Developers would have done that. I am getting this game and looking forward to my 5 days early access.

There are many sandboxy features to the game.  They might not be 100% sandbox, but they are still there to see.  Things like public dungeons, open world PvP, deeper crafting, complex character creation tools, and a pretty complex skill system and the questing system come to mind rather quickly.

Public dungeons aren't sandbox features. The "original themepark" EverQuest had public dungeons. There is nothing sandbox about them. RvR is ALSO not sandbox, no one EVER called Dark Age of Camelot or GW2 sandboxes. If you could build wherever you want, maybe, but you can't. Having crafting != sandbox. Whether it is deeper or not (which it isn't really). Complex character creation tools? You mean, the same one used in just about every MMO? And complex questing? WHAT? The questing is IDENTICAL to questing in WoW and its clones. The ONLY thing even remotely sandbox is the skill system.

 

i wouldnt say the questing is "exactly like wow"...wow has more "fetch it" quest than i can even remember..and this game is fully voiced. the only way you can compare ESO to wow is that they are both MMO's, thats where the comparison ends..thank god

I know it's a suppose to be a Themepark MMO, but the more I see and read it really doesn't feel like it's on rails like your traditional themeparks? Am I wrong in this or is this what it turns out to be at level 50.

It seems like Zenimax kept the openess of the Elder scrolls with this game.

i have been in the last 3 beta tests, and will be in the this weekend. you have 3 different alliances..you choose an alliance you would like to start out with, then you create a character. that character will play in one alliance till you reach level 50. when you reach level 50 you can start doing things in one of the other alliances till you reach 50+, then you you can go to the last alliance till you become 50++, there will be tons to do after you reach level 50..they will have what they are calling 'adventure zones" also their version of "raids". plus, the world will have massive places not yet filled in with content, which will be added as the game goes along with even more content. Also dont forget, when your character reaches level 10, you can go to the PVP zone and fight for your alliance, which the PVP zone also has PVE content.

 Now, this MMO is a Themepark MMO, you cant create something that wasnt already in the game. but it isnt on rails at all..where most MMO's direct you where to go from point to point (WOW). You can actually just ignore a quest marker and head in a direction on the map and find tons of things to do..they encourage exploration in this game unlike most MMO's..for example, i wondered off in a direction that was just blank on my map, i ended up finding a hidden cave that had "unique" crafting tables where i could make a named armor set. you will also find locked chests all over if you explore the land, and on and on

so in my opinion it is a mix of the single player TES games and an MMO, which is very hard to do but Zenimax has done a fine job doing so. I havent been this excited for a new MMO for a very very long time, but dont take my word for it, try it out for yourself. but dont go by the beta tests..for example, this weekends test is purely a stress test of the servers and it will not be a current build of the game, that is still being tested on the private test server. wait till the final version of the game is released then judge this game. hope i helped

one problem with with finding new bugs and all..this weekends test will be the same build of the game that has been in the last 2 beta test..its not the new build of the game that is being tested on the private test server. so most likely you will see the same bugs you saw in the last beta test. this weekends test is purely a stress test of the servers. if you are to get in game and play/test, it will be a bonus. just FYI so people dont think they havent done anything to the game since last beta test.
