I'll chime-in and say I'm not a big fan of the MT modular. I also have played mmo's for 10+ years. Paying a sub fee imho is just easier and gives a level playing field.

I do understand the concept and where a use comes from MT. I just see it as too easy for people who have the resources to exploit it.

Surprised noone mentioned the sheer immense ammount of profit blizzard takes in... When it's all said and done they make billions.

I almost think of it as; The community is too large to implement something like this... But then think it's too big not to do it. My gut tells me most of the player base would like that ingame.

Earthrise, Champions online, Star Trek online, Starwars The Old Republic, Mortal online and DCU looks like it might be cool.

I will agree level building is pretty much a RPG staple, yet doing the very same dungeon over and over shouldn't. Endgame needs to evolve because it seems most players tend to burn/race thru all the content on the way to max lvl.  All the content not asorbed is pretty much wasted and forgotten.

I'm playing WAR atm, a game that is not perfect and suffers from endgame balancing. I will say that game is very fun to make alts.

yea i am also very interested in earthrise. It really sounds to be a unique scifi game, though it is a cautious optimism, because i have sevearly burned my hands before on interesting mmo projects, like with DnL.
I realllly hope that earthrise will be everything i hope it will, but i try not to get my hopes up to much..

No doubt the game looks very cool... As you said about getting burned; Yeah I know that feeling.

I'll stay positive and think that developers will become aware of the many mistakes made in the past bye others.

It's an interesting start.

What I would like to know and something that could make or break my interest in the game is....

Do the gangs control territory?  If my gang sets up shop somewhere and defeats all commers for a period of time does the gang get some kind of benifit like increased income from drug sales or access to some kind of better manufacturing.  If so is there a way we can get NPC guards to defend our ground against other raiders and could we improve them somehow.  Otherwise I fail to see the point of paying a monthly fee for a FPS game with a prettier server selection screen.

/agree

Territory control tied to resources and the ability to modify your home turff would be exceptional. When I say modify I mean Grafitti wars and things that make it obvious who the area belongs to. Would be great if they allow creativity to take place in the game as well. upload your own logos and such.

Sounds like a great idea, looks good. The instances worry me and the name, come on...change it. No name is ever "set" until it is mastered on CD and printed on the boxes.

I'm right with ya Slip. If this was open world it would be really be getting my attention.

Speculate is about all we can do at this point, yet I would say In terms of how much hype this game is generating. It's gunna be quite big... I would think.

Most MMO's take 4-5 years to release and fail because they are released 1-2 years to soon.  Bioware is known for taking their time and releasing when their game is ready.  Hopefully they will take their time and put long term profits ahead of short term sales.  Which brings me to my guess of,

May, 2011

QFT

But May 2011 might be a little long from now. I think early 2010, anyone's guess I supose.     ï

I'm in a 200 man Guild for WAR, Im just wondering how long its gonna be before it gets borring.

Then why play? You clearly do not like the game and its premise? Why spend the money and attempt to play it if you hate it from the beginning?

Just don't come back after launch and post about how much you hate the game.

My advice: don't like it, don't play it.

Quoting Templarga for truth and curious what "200 man Guild for WAR" your in?....

Hope there is an open beta.

There will be

fileplanet though

Yes but people who have been waiting for beta will also get invites from the Mythic's beta center. It's not all bad .

A bunch of lame excuses from Funcom. Paying to beta test is retarded. I call shenanigans.

Paying to beta test?.... Do you even grasp the stupidity that is emulating out of your mouth? lol I call a broke ass mofo right here.

Why should YOU be allowed to play one of the most anticipated MMoRPG's of the year for free. Let alone 2 weeks of play right before launch? Your bitching about 5 bucks when the game will cost you 60 let alone the 15 every month...

Yeah anyone who thinks like Samuraisword makes me question general common sense in people.

Pretty sad to hate on Funcom and Fileplanet with the multitude of entertainment and service they provide. I'll say it twice people are stupid, heaven forbid they might actually THINK!!!!

Healthy 6 month bump.

Guild is thriving in all aspects. We're getting ready, come say hi. We are no doubt a Legion!!

Crazy how large we have become, good times!

Thats a Exclusive Screenshot for warcry! Common sense should be used prior to posting.

Auku might even make a spiffy sig for ya! :)

I can't wait! I have some great questions to ask.

I fully agree. These guys are going all out to bring us a truly fantastic title.  They are not rushing anything, making everything perfect if you ask me.

The way some of the city's look....man just awesome.

Heck we don't a thing really about the elves/dark elves. I can't wait to see their classes.

What about PS3 or 360 titles? Lots of stuff to play there if your not bound to playing a MMO.  There are plenty of free MMOG's to dabble with to.
