Originally posted by Nicoli What's your short-term goals, Capital ships take a long time to reach talking Year+, so a shorter goals, and what you want to do in game will help people recruit you. My suggestion is look at the guide in this forum espically the bottom part where it talks about what you need to know to start looking for a corp. I agree, train up to say a mining Cruiser like the Osphrey, and get your learning skills up. Corporations and alliances are always looking for new miners to help. If you want the PvP route, do some research and specialize in certain skills and ships, you'll be much more effective this way. |

Steep learning curve, and a horrible death penalty even with insurance. |

MMORPG's if you haven't noticed already all share a common concept to keep you playing somehow through "repetitiveness" |

Silk Road Online is a good Korean MMORPG. There's also GW Factions as mentioned with some oriental settings. Not to mention Hero Online, which is in open beta I believe. |

EVE isn't your typical MMORPG. It requires patience and a lot of teamwork to become successful. There is no "one man army" no matter how much sp you have in this game. It's all about joining the right corp for you, and learning to work well with these people in general. However, the death penalty is very harsh in this game, because you can lose everything you worked for, besides your character if killed and podded. Play the trial, and if you like it, do some research, find a corp, and have fun in EVE. |

I say try the trial of WoW and see how you like it. I first was addicted to WoW, but after 2 months of playing it became boring and more of a grind both in pvp and pve, so I just quit my subscription. WoW and EVE are both 2 completely different MMORPG's imo. For me, I'd rather stay with EVE,but ultimately it's your choice. |

Exactly. Take for example WoW, record breaking subscriptions and profits for a MMORPG. Yet nothing really spectacular in plan except a brand new expansion that you AGAIN have to pay for besides the monthlys. Imo, the more profits a company makes, the better the game will become in say the coming year. However, if profits become ridiculous to the point the company can't begin to comprehend what they're making, things will not necessarily become better becomes the company knows they can still make large profits without necessarily adding much new content regularly, or fixing problems in-game. |

Waste your time playing a more enjoyable grinding game such as Silk Road Online if you're planning to grind a lot. |

About time RF Online started a "massive offensive" against macroers.
Macroing in RF Online was a big dissapointment during my trial period, and is annoying for a lot of the RF Online player base since it disrupts leveling and training of skills.
Keep it up CCP.

WoW is a good game I'll admit it. The group instances are unique, as well as the pvp system, the game has introduced a lot of new features not fully integrated in other mmorpg's yet. However, these same features have downsides. The 3-5 hour long instances, waiting times for battlegrounds, pvp rankings requiring a rediculous amount of pvping in order to maintain your rank, and more. As mentioned time and time again, WoW is popular partly due to it's unique gaming features, but MOSTLY due to it's already popular fan base due to WC III, SC, and D2. I've never seen a WoW commercial on t.v. but it probably spread by word of mouth very fast due to indirectly advertising to it's already large player base. It's no surprise WoW is as popular as it is, but people give WoW too much credit to it's popularity simply because it is supposedly the "perfect" mmorpg game. |

GW is one of those games that you either love or hate imo. You have to be a PvP enthusiast to fully appreicate this game, as that is what it involves mostly during end game. If you're like me, and don't like to PvP much thats probably why you became bored of it, but 8 months is still a good amount of time playing a game such as GW since it doesn't require much grinding. Only farming for equips to sell or use at most could be considered grinding. |

It's tough to tell the age of someone being immature in a MMORPG, it would be unfair for me to say all the younger players are immature because I've actually met some 12-13 yr olds that are polite and kind. |

I've narrowed my choice down to a Hunter/Rogue, and plan on going Horde. Is this a good setup? I'm still researching some builds atm on the WoW forums too, but all in al I plan on using this character for raiding, pve, and gold hunting. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
