"Elves are showing up everywhere. Elves help the hobbits in Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. With Elf, they even have their own movie. But who exactly are these mysterious creatures? An elf is a kind of fairy. Many people believe fairies are little people with magical powers who can control what humans see and experience. Elves appeared in stories even before St. Nicholas, who lived more than a thousand years ago. Many people believe that St. Nicholas became Santa Claus—that makes elves even older than Santa! Elves first appear in Germanic folklore. These elves were pranksters. According to legend, they would cause diseases and give people bad dreams. In fact, one German word for nightmare is alpdrucken (ALF-droo-ken), which means "elf-pressure." The legend of elves spread across Europe. In Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, elves became associated with Christmas. In these countries, people say elves are small and mischievous. They wear red clothing and have long beards. To stop them from playing pranks, the story goes, you have to give elves a bowl of porridge on Christmas Eve. In Denmark, people say that elves can be seen only by cats. In Iceland elves are called yule lads. Starting on December 12, a new lad visits each day until Christmas. These elves play tricks on people. Because of these tricks, each elf gets a name like Door Slammer or Sausage Stealer. Kids in Iceland don't mind the pranks, though. The lads leave behind presents. "

Interesting quotes from Sigil co-founder and executive producer Brad McQuaid
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 2/18/07 2:38:37 PM
This is taken from Game Spy's review of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Vanguard: Saga of Heroes was recently profiled in the New York Times with some interesting quotes from Sigil co-founder and executive producer Brad McQuaid. "People ask me, 'are you launching a finished game?' and the answer is 'no, we're launching a game that is good enough to launch, but it's not finished.' And that's why I love these games: because they should never be finished." Read more here |

Power leveling service, good or bad?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/05/07 4:06:52 AM
Do You know if many people use "Power Leveling Services". Does it have any impact on the gameplay? For me it sounds unbelievable. I play for fun. However, we have all different goal with our gameplay. |

EVE has over 150k subscribers! LOCK THE "only 30k subscribers" propaganda thread!!

Here is an interesting reading from a Blog: "The population density issue becomes far more difficult to handle if the number of players is shrinking, which happens sooner or later in every MMORPG. Especially the lower level areas of a game tend to become less and less populated with age, leading to problems in finding groups. Also the player economy suffers when the player numbers fall below a critical size." Read more here: Tobold's MMORPG Blog |

I like the new layout. It is more easy to follow and significantly better on the eyes.

If You tend to avoid groups is EQ2 a game for You! Here is a post from http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com Where are all the people? "Man, this has been bugging me as well for about two weeks now. This will piss some people off, but the only thing I can compare the play experience to is WoW which I happen to be playing right now at the same time. I find it most ironic that a game like eq2 which prides itself on roleplaying and interaction actually has less of it than a game like WoW. Now, many people here will post in response that WoW is full of kids and kool dudes but thats really only a few PvP servers. There are a ton of RP servers where some people spend more time talking and roleplaying than questing, etc. Eq2 seems almost deserted in comparision and the players seem too self absorbed to really be much help or fun. Don't kill me, it's just my limited observation after 2 or so weeks of play. I love different aspects of each game, eq2 has a depth to the character selection that WoW is certainly missing, but the people playing it appear to be somewhat older and much, much more serious about being serious in the game. Tuesday,05 December , 2006 at 19:00 UTC"As you may already know, there was a hearing at the commerce tribunal today about the future of Nevrax. The discussion was short and went as expected.
As a number of serious take over offers had been officially presented, the court decided that we continue our activity normally until Ryzom is passed over to its new owner. The name of the prospective buyers are still secret, however we should be able to tell you more between December the 12th and the 19th." |
